Thing is, an approach that's almost the dead opposite has worked for me. Very general in terms of qualifications, very specific about what does not matter.
The ad was a sort of "anti-ad" that very clearly stated that the chemistry between people could not be conjured up with a "laundry list," and then went on to state in a dryly humorous way what doesn't matter to me (typical laundry list sort of stuff, such as age, religious beliefs, politics, entertainment tastes, etc.), and what does matter to me (character traits, humor, reasonably good fitness, open-mindedness, etc.).
Of course, just after it was up, things started picking up offline, so I never dumped down the ducats to see where it would go.
