Yeah I was a prepper way before the zombie craze. I built a 5br/3ba on 40 wooded acres, on pv, two wells, wood heat, backup Cummins converted to propane, wood stove in the kitchen alongside a propane stove and fridge. 20 cords seasoned bucked and stacked. Huge veg beds, protein on hoof, claws and pads - my forest was prime winter forage for all large mammals and was harvested about every 10-15 years.

I had poured RV pads and hookups for 5 rvs with a 5kw in support and a septic to support them. Power would’ve gone in later in pv. This was for friends that would’ve bugged to my property with family. Everyone had roles all of us vets.

We had preprepped berms and defensive positions across the property with waterproof range cards stored in ammo boxes at each one.

We had the 32 potential choke points on the way to the undisclosed location all mapped and alternates selected in case of them being an issue, fortunately most of the mileage was across barren and or unpopulated areas in the northwestern redoubt.

Ahh yes those were heady days.
haha wow, that is some serious prep! I think every adult non ghetto/soy male 30+ has some degree of prepper in them. Sounds like you had a pretty sweet set up. I have some stuff but nowhere close that

If there is a doomsday scenario that occurs, I am not sure what the point of surviving would be, as it would be simply existing rather than living.

Since it most likely would be a nuclear issue anything above ground would be worthless.

Absolutely, which is why I sold the property at great profit more than a decade ago and got out of the game…mostly

survival is not enough, one has to live

p.s. my place was in one of the bands of areas that were not down wind of any known large metros or nuke target lists. There are a few of these in the US. It’s easy to see the historical jet stream patterns if you know where to look.

now ill show up in class IV and my soccom and borrow other peeps shyte (j/k)

On a serious note for those worried about water, get a large berkey table top gravity filter with backup elements, also a Katadyn expedition stainless steel with ceramic filter backpackers filter for being mobile. Turn mud water into drinking water. Don’t buy the stupid water bottles they clog up fast. They also make some straws that work.

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.

You shop lift? Doesn't the door detectors come on when you exit?
Here is a little street wisdom

Most store security is there to deter rather than stop some stores would rather allow a buffer for stock loss than pay for in store security .... sure for expensive items they will try and have them on lockdown

For cheaper items and consumables nothing ..... the most you are likely to find is a small RF tag attached to expensive meat

That can be removed in 15 seconds ...

You also need to be aware you are paying around a 240% overhead on every single item you purchase in some cases that % is way way higher

Sometimes you just need to reality check whom is stealing from whom

Remember in lockdown when the only things that were open were supermarkets ? how much profit did they rake from that ?

yet 1 year later they have the fvcking audacity to raise prices by 30% due to inflation haha

When the game is rigged only fools play by the rules....

Lots of replies in here, I'll have to look through.

I'm focused on earning my own income, will probably switch over to an S-corp and try to save as much as I can on taxes.

I have some crypto holdings too but I'm not at all convinced it'll go anywhere.

I've never had much of a work ethic, but now my main motivation to work hard is out of fear, not excitement.

You clearly have very poor knowledge of how fiat banking and finance works. If you aren’t born rich in 2022 you’re in big ass trouble. And by “rich”, I don’t mean you. I mean aristocracy. You don’t have to work and you never did. This is a level of wealth you seem oblivious to.

You don’t understand what power and wealth is. You work for your money, you’re a slave in this system. Simple as. Rich people own assets from birth, no debt, and then rent their assets to you. This is family dynasty stuff.

If you have a foot in property now, or even have a few properties. It won’t last long. They will be confiscated shortly.

We are presiding over the greatest global wealth inequality the world has ever seen - 1% own over 50% of the world’s wealth. And that’s just what they’re willing to tell you.

You don’t actually have any real wealth. All your fake Rothschild banknotes that you’ve used to purchase property/assets will be confiscated in the Great Reset due to inequality, war and climate change. Private property will cease to exist very shortly (for you, not them).

Do you pay any attention to the WEC and Klaus Schwab? These are some of the most powerful people in the world and they are directly telling you now what will happen.

What’s happened is that Rothschild has disinherited you and your ancestors over the past 100 years, replaced your real wealth with fake wealth. This giant punking is about to reveal itself when everything you own is confiscated in The Great Reset, and replaced with GovCoin.

Communism happens when people are really, really stupid.
This comes across as a massive cope and excuse for why you haven't achieved. You lie to yourself to make yourself feel edgy, smart and use it as an excuse to not put any effort into life. It's all just futile right? While I do think the middle class is going to get decimated, there will always be a need for 10-20% of the population to produce and innovate for the world to go round. There will be incentives for this to happen and this doesn't come from the .001%. I don't think you have a real grasp on how business, commerce and markets work. Probably watch too much doom porn on youtube and use it as a safety blanket for your ego. If you are low skilled, low paid, have debt and no assets, which is probably at least 50% of the population. You will have a tough go at it. If you are skilled, produce economic value for society and have your finances/assets in order you will be fine. Choose which side you want to be on, sounds like you already resigned to living in your tent in the woods. It's foolish to think it will be 99.99% UBI pod bug eating slaves, there needs to be producers and productive members of society.

The type of wealth you are referencing is the .001%. The vast majority of people I know who are highly successful/wealthy come from middle class backgrounds. It is all very achievable if you are willing to work hard, take risk, sacrifice and be disciplined over an extended period of time. This whole attitude of life is not fair I and I can't do it is pretty weak to listen to. I hope the younger guys don't take your nihilistic outlook to heart and actually build a good life. Any lack of success is your personal responsibility not the .001% boogyman.

Wow someone is mainlining Alex Jones drivel, Jesus Christ guys, really? I mean yes governments are known for their want to control and tax everything. But the new world order drivel is just regurgitated crap. Yes the dollar is pegged to nothing except oil, we’ve fought wars and killed for decades to keep the Federal Reserve act of 1913 going, but to credit some greater global plan for all the crap we deal with is puerile.

Do not assume “they” are that organized or united, it’s most likely all incompetence.

This from someone who planned for decades for the collapse, any flavor you want: financial, social, nuclear - it’s not going to happen. I decided to live not just plan to survive.

If you want to read a really good novel pick up Unintended Consequences - many of you would love it. It may be out of print the SJW Woke crowd would burn down the buildings where it’s being printed if it was out still.

wow I found the pdf: https://billstclair.com/Unintended-Consequences.pdf

I should sell my hardcover it’s going used for $200+

Others lie to themselves to make themselves feel comfortable

You cool with me referencing this post in a few months or so Jay?

I mean, we just had an election blatantly stolen

And tech, which is where all of those jobs are that you mention, is nowhere listed on Maslow's Hierarchy, last time I checked...

One easy solution is to reduce the workweek with all of the impending automation, however that might deprive you of relative status...

You think 50% of the population is just going to wither away and die? Tribalism/gangs are going to skyrocket.... Get enough desperate people together, and they'll overtake warehouses of supplies...

He told me to sell everything off and just have 2 duffel bags with the bare essentials ready to go at anytime.
I believe every person should have bug out bags, of the essentials just as a safety net for being alive...

There is a growing subset of companies, institutions and stock market insiders that are saying the recession fears are being way overblown and that we will see a slow down but likely not a recession.

Companies have set record stock buybacks the first quarter and seemingly will continue to do so as they are flush with cash, which some claim will head off more downside.

In fact they are already seeing demand falling, supply chains easing which likely will lead to inflation falling.

.
For once we agree.

Recessions aren’t the end of the world. They are 2 consecutive quarters of contraction.

people go on about the GFC but I remember the 80s, double the unemployment, shops everywhere closed. It was nowhere near as bad in 2008. This went on a long time in the 80s.

every single time we get “buy guns and precious metals” and it’s never happened.

If you need a gun, you’re already in big trouble. Look at lawless states like Mexico. The biggest and most violent groups win, and your 9mm and a boarded up window won’t do anything.

2A advocates live in a fantasy world. One of grave danger and fear.

Those of us who are older know recessions and inflation well and it’s not the end of the world.

Considering, aside from explosives, Americans can possess all the calibers those warring cartels in Mexico possess. Not just 9mm. You're reductive reasoning is what's fantasy.

Who cares about calibres?

when you’ve seen your neighbours skinned alive and had their hearts cut out, I don’t think you’re going to be going for a last stand against a paramilitary organisation.

Unless you and Bob down the road watch a load, and I mean a load, of YouTube videos on self defence and get your tactical gear on.

All 2A seems to have achieved in the US is a murder rate 5X the rest of the developed world, a gun homicide rate approximately 35x the rest of the developed world, whilst having the largest per capita prison population, among the longest sentencing and demonstrably the most powerful and forceful police force and state agencies of all of the Western Hemisphere.

its failed in both terms of protecting the individual from tyranny and protecting individuals from violence. Yet, the answer seems to be “we need MORE guns”

Like the religious, people will defend beliefs in the face of overwhelming evidence . I’ve had this debate multiple times, and I’ve never had anything except anecdotal evidence, and selective evidence. Or just general nonsense like “yeah but what about all the knife crime and terrorism”, again, statistically none of this bears out. Or “London has a higher rate of violence than New York for 3 years out of 10”Cherry picking.

I do believe Americans need to keep their guns because disarming is impossible. However, you have to be a special kind of stupid to believe it’s a better system than the one the rest of the demonstrably more peaceful developed world have adopted.

For the record, gun ownership is basically outlawed in Mexico, I haven’t checked recently but there is basically one place to buy firearms I. Mexico legally and it’s in Mexico City.

Gun control at its finest!

When you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have them…

Japanese General Isoroku Yamamoto in WW2 was supposed to have said, “I would never invade America, there is a gun behind every blade of grass.” This was a serious consideration of the Soviets as well years later.

“an armed society is a polite society” - Heinlien

You cannot have the 1st without the 2nd, it gives it teeth.

If you’re an American in the US I highly suggest you attend an Appleseed Clinic:

There are few things on the battlefield as powerful as a skilled fireteam that knows to put steel on target and scoot.

UK murder rate from homicide 35 times lower
U.K. murder rate 1/5th of the USA
all categories of violent crime other than sexual assault lower in US (fractionally in terms of SA) and petty crime slightly higher.

it doesn’t stack up if you get into stats, but slogans are fine I guess.

Just notice on last years date The us gun homicides rate is 669 times UK.
