Almost all of those were bench press accidents, I wonder how many were using a thumbless grip?

Agree 100%!

People who hang around while you're lifting but pretend that they're doing something else (usually just looking around, lol) and won't acknowledge you. Just ask to jump in and alternate sets with me and I'll say yes, no need to make it so awkward.

The guys who lift exactly the same weight and look exactly the same after 1-3 years at the gym. Like, what's the point of even going?
To stay in shape.

Some people want to get to a certain size and maintain that look. Not everyone wants to look like the Hulk.

There's no need to lift the same weight though.

If you're there you might as well get stronger if you don't want to get bigger. Just lift in the 1-3 rep range. That's definitely what i'll be doing when i get to a size i'm happy with and don't want to be bigger... including starting some olympic lifts to increase power instead of just strength.

Stupid people in my gym = The trainers who work with the same people for many months, yet who's physiques haven't changed at all.

There's a guy in my gym who gets trained privately every week and he is still as fat as when I saw him first in October...

Like.. what the fvck are you paying your money for if you aren't improving?

In 8-12 weeks from now I'll have lost more fat and gained more muscle than any of these guys who've been 'working' with 'trainers' for 7+ months.

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.

Over the last year or so I've noticed way more dudes shadowboxing in the gym. The worst was some skinny ass dude wearing a tapout shirt, shorts, hat and throwing wild hooks next to a bench.

No one should EVER shadowbox in public. No matter how big or small they may be.

What bugs me happens every so often, but when it happens I can't stop thinking about it and it ruins my workout.

I do most of my work near the squat rack, so when some guys come to use it, they let out a small fart when at the bottom of the squat. sometimes it is a long fart that continues until they are upright again.

Either way, it is something that rarely happens, but when it does I can't focus anymore.

Other than that, my gym experiences have been good compared to some of you.

 Farting during squats can bring your 1RM up by at least 40lbs! :cheer:

Is that caused by the upward thrust generated by the released gas?

Today I saw a guy doing 1/16 squats @ 335 lbs with his arms outstretched and his hands on top of the weight plates. He also made a big production out of it with all the grunting and screaming, etc. I noticed some guy on the leg press machine watching him and laughing.

Also, this other guy was stretching in the rack. I saw him adjusting the pins and thought he was going to squat, but then he puts his leg up on the barbell and starts stretching his hamstring out

Haha, this thread is brilliant.

My biggest peeves are:

1. The guy who spends twice as much time checking himself out in the mirror as he does actually lifting

2. The guy who comes up to the gym in his polo and jeans

3. The guy who critiques everyone else's diet, workout routine, cardio, etc. even though he isn't the super lifting-freak he makes himself out to be

4. The group of 6 guys who huddle around one bench and joke around with each other, you might see them get one set going every 5 or so minutes. You still see the same guys at the same station 45 minutes later.

5. The guys who seem to always keep tabs on how much weight you're doing

6. The loud obnoxious guy who doesn't come up to lift, he just comes to d*ck around with his friends and act tough

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.
