Karma! I just ran into this thread today..

First off, you should be proud of yourself for starting this and keeping us updated. I try hard to eat heathly and go to the gym 3-4 times a week.

As we get older all this stuff gets harder. HANG TOUGH AND KEEP IT UP BROTHER!

Thank you brother.

I'm sore as fvck. Probably due to the leg presses. I'm also feeling a bit lethargic. Is this due to my body now utilizing fat instead of carbs for energy?

All I want to do is eat and sleep.

There is a transitional period where you do feel bad shifting to a 'fat burning' metabolism. It can be rough but tough it out as it pays dividends. The period may last from a few days to several weeks, which is another reason why I advise no carbs at all for 2 weeks at least, the transition is rougher but it takes less time. If you include post-workout carbs and carb days then the transition takes longer (and fat burning is compromised significantly). If you feel bad, eat some more. It's important to get sufficient calories during the phase and it's very unlikely you'll gain fat doing so.

By the way, tomorrow I want you to log your journal as such:

Meal 1/Breakfast - 4 eggs, 2 sausage patties
Meal 2 (snack) - celery w/ peanut butter
Meal 3 (lunch) - pork chop, spinach, salad
etc.

It's easier to troubleshoot diet that way.

meal 5
sugar free lemon pudding
2 cans of V8 ( I'm a fiend for this stuff).

meal 6
sugar free jell-o and some more pot roast.

There is an assload of candy here to hand out to the kiddies and I don't have any want of it and it's right in front of my face. It feels good to be able to let go of this garbage.

My mental acumen is getting sharper and the clarity is too.

how many carbs in your v8? I assume there is no added sugar.

(it's still processed food btw so I would limit it)

Can info says:
15g carbs per serving (1 can)
12 g sugar ( nowhere does it say anything regarding ADDED sugar)
3 g dietary fiber

On second thought I'll cut it to 1 can.

yeah, I'm not a fan of juices in general, at least not on a daily basis. they're processed foods.

I'd cut it completely if I were you. two cans a day is most of your carb intake (going by 30-40g a day) and I'd prefer you got it from whole vegetables, nuts, a little whole fruit etc.

Meal 2 - sliced tomato with turkey slices. ADD IN A LITTLE FAT HERE, SOME NUTS FOR EXAMPLE. TRY TO GET PROTEIN AND FAT IN EVERY MEAL, TURKEY IS LOWFAT SO IT DOESN'T WORK

Meal 3 lunch - broiled chicken thighs

meal 4 - 3 dbl cheeseburgers no ketchup or bread.
see caps for comments.. the rest looks good dude.

Props to you Karma! It's nice to see people taking the initiative and working hard!
I can feel your pain about starting out heavy and wanting to get down. At the beginning of July I was around 280, now I'm down at 230. I'm 6'3" so I've been working on my cardio and lifting. For me I found after working out every day during the summer that I LOOKED FORWARD to running, biking and lifting. Even now, if I don't workout I feel like my day's not complete. Get that feeling and you'll be unstoppable!
Keep up the hard work and keep us updated :)

I'm getting to the point already where if I think about not going to workout I feel guilty as Jeffrey Dahmer.

I appreciate your kindness brother! My congratulations to you for dropping the lbs.

To supplement fat intake I bought a #10 can of Smuckers all natural peanut butter. Ingredients: Peanuts, salt.

I'll be dipping my spoon into the jar regularly.

Massive props to you brother.

Managing diabetes and losing the pounds at the same time is nothing short of an epic struggle I'm sure.
