The question though is: Why would fashion trends embrace such a bad look (especially a bad look that used to be in style...and went out of style for good reason)?

The 90s should have made us learn from the error of a woman wearing baggy pants

Yeah, I've noticed Gen Z young men wearing baggy pants too.

I don't even like to wear baggy pants as a guy.

I once wore baggy pants (they were in style, for a guy at least, in my younger days). By the time I was halfway through high school, however, tighter pants came into style. My pants then tightened (by college, I was wearing the skintight drainpipe jeans).

Even though I don't wear the drainpipe jeans anymore (I don't know if they even make drainpipe jeans for a guy anymore), I'm never going back to baggy pants. Looking back on my 12-15 year old self, I see how sloppy and ridiculous baggy pants looked (they look equally ridiculous on the young folk embracing baggy pants in the current year)

My point? Since baggy pants are a bad look even for a guy, it goes without saying that it's a bad look on a broad.

I wear straight jeans and prefer them to slim fit. The point is, that’s what’s in style for the younger generation. Trends like septum piercings and broccoli hair are popular, and for many young people, it’s all about “when in Rome, do as the Romans do.”

While I understand that these trends appeal to some, everyone has their own preferences. For example, I’m not a fan of septum piercings, but I don’t complain about it. I respect that some people like them. If I were to date someone with a septum piercing, I might playfully suggest they take it out, as I believe a lighthearted approach would be more effective for them to take my lead. However, I doubt I would date someone with a septum piercing in the first place.

Her lower half would be far more alluring, if her pants were tighter
I doubt her boyfriend minds since he gets to smash it and see her without those pants. Plus, it seems she doesn't wear them all the time.

@GoodMan32 How about we stop judging others for what and why they do and wear? It’s really petty. Instead, let’s focus on something more productiv like doing push-ups or pull-ups right now. Sound good?

You're right, it could simply be a matter of "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" (to explain why the younger generation wears baggy pants)

My own transition to tighter pants as a teen was (in retrospect) probably influenced by the "when in Rome" factor.

I guess since I'm now 33, I'm less susceptible to "when in Rome" trends.

You know, just 10 years ago, the clothing that some of these females are wearing would had caused them to be either cited or arrested for indecent exposure. While I am not a fan of baggy jeans, females wearing skin tight and see through clothes is wrong on many levels.

I found a promising article:

Apparently the low rise jeans of the early 2000s are the latest old trend to come back into style. Hopefully this means the trend of a modern-day young woman rocking the baggy pants of the 90s has died out (the article even mentions the 90s mom jeans Gen Z trend)

I speak for a lot of men when I say low rise jeans are a good look on a woman. Even if the low rise jeans Gen Z is bringing back aren't as low rise as the early 2000s low rise jeans, still a step in the right direction.

Perhaps they can also resurrect a love of comedy and a willingness to defend it ferociously, even when not personally finding the joke all that funny. A return to the social atmosphere we enjoyed during even the late 90s-early 2000s, imperfect though it was, would be most welcome

Was a kid in that era; agree it'd be an awesome era to return to in some ways (if we're lucky, perhaps the dating/sex marketplace could return to that era)

I guess I was born 20 years too late. If only I was 33 in 2004, I wouldn't be dealing with the oversatutation of the 2024 market.

Fellas of your ilk wouldn't have had a proliferation of Incel and MGTOW forums online to retreat into, this is true

Dating in 2004 was not some magical time either. You likely would have struggled as a 33 year old in 2004.

You have a lot of work to do on fixing your mindset and some other issues.

Even if you could have been 33 in 2004, I don't think the end outcome would have changed too much.

There are some things I miss about dating in 2004. When 2004 was happening, I was 20-21. There were some good elements of that time.

I can't go back to 2004 even if I wanted to do that. I need to create solutions for the present time, not daydream about a period that I can't re-create now.

More importantly, even though online dating existed in 2004, we weren't yet at the point where broads could get thousands of suitors right after setting up a profile.

I'm not saying I would have slayed at 33 in an alternative universe where I was born 20 years sooner.

I just think I would have had better luck than I do as a 33 year old in 2024.

I've shared the story on here about a 23 year old hottie at a bar taking a liking to me when I was 30 (and that's despite the fact swipe apps were well underway by the time I was 30). Imagine how much more often stuff like that would happen with me if broads didn't have swipe apps to fall back on.

Baggy pants? I would actually find it attractive if she was teaching a Philosophy class or an art teacher of some kind…and happens to wear baggy pants..lol.

This thread seems a bit ridiculous to me.

Dallas women don't tend to wear baggy pants. There might be some subculture around Dallas where women would wear baggy pants but I've never seen it in all the years I've lived here.

Dallas women are into looking good and presenting themselves well. Baggy pants aren't going to do that for them.

Awhile back, there was a vanishingly small clique of women who emulated Billie Ellish and the likes fondness for baggy garb. As you say though, this wasn't most chicks

Everything Henley observes is just as true for us today as it was for Boomers in The 80s, making peace with the fact that their adolescence might as well be a different planet, compared to the world they found themselves in then

They had to get on with life ultimately, as do we

Sometimes you wear stuff to actively downplay your curves to discourage unwanted attention. There were nights for example I'd want to relax, chill with friends & not be in heels and a mini skirt at the club, just dance & enjoy the music. Those were baggy pants nights.

My idea of baggy pants are linen. Drawstring, low slung & relaxed. Simple flowy and unrestrictive. Solid white or neutral colors. Beachy. Artsy, Sexy in an unfussy way. Easy to dance in.
