That's because everyone's trying to blame someone, they're deflecting.

In our world, there has to be an outside reason for something like this. It can't be accepted as natural. For people to move on with a normal life, there needs to be an excuse, scapegoat. And that reason needs to be as far away from their own life, so as not to be able to shake their own foundations.

As soon as I saw Elliot Rodger's video after hearing about this tragic story, I knew I would find a discussion here. And sure enough, I was right.

We don't know anything about this guy and his experience. Despite not knowing his height or weight (he looked like he was on the thin side), I have to say that he was better looking than I expected and he had on a stylish shirt and had his own car. But that doesn't mean anything because we all know guys with this and more who still get rejected by girls. But we don't even know that much about him. How often did the talk to girls? Did he approach? Did he ever actually get rejected? How did girls generally treat him? If he approached, did he approach different girls, or was he only going for one type? I didn't read his manifesto, so maybe some of these questions can be answered.

The only thing I can say is that a lot of us could relate to this guy at one point in our lives. Not in terms of how he chose to deal with the situation but in terms of his feelings of loneliness, desperation, and frustration in not being able to get girls. I've seen a lot of opinions believing that this kid suffered from mental illness, a rich kid who felt a sense of entitlement, or that he was a plain misogynist. To me, he appeared to be, dare i say, a normal kid who unfortunately snapped out of frustration. He also could have been a kid who could have gotten what he wanted if he put himself out there. But again, we don't really know his whole story.

Good point. Maybe the whole time he rejected himself, and blamed others. It's the same as if you don't respect yourself, others won't respect you.

I read this article that younger people are more and more stressed out now, than younger people 15 or 20 years ago.

Pressure to fit in, pressure to get good grades, pressure to get a high paying job.

And I definitely dont think getting laid would have fixed how messed up that kid was. Can you imagine how he would handle an argument in a relationship? Or a breakup? He tried shoving strangers off ledges at a party. He killed innocent people who had no connection to him. Just imagine what he might be capable of had someone truly slighted him unjustly.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are any easy answers in this type of case. The truth is he probably is crazy, unstable, or at least a sociopath. But these types of shootings continue to happen, and I have no idea how we would even begin to stop it.

Nah he wasn't gay. He was an AFC who just couldn't get women. Look, UCSB has some of the hottest sluts you've ever seen. When you're on campus every day (I think he might have gone to Santa Barbara City College actually) and you see them, you're freaking h0rny all the time and you will get bitter fast if you realize you're not in the "in" crowd going to frat parties all the time. Here is what would have had happened had the guy come on here.
