also ive been told to avoid this but i dont know how:
removing sleeps in the morning, rubbing ur eyes, getting eyelashes out, washin ur face, etc. Or like if im surfing and i come up from the water i always have to sorta move the water away from my eye so i can open them again.

But ive heard rubbing ur eyes is bad.............is there any way to avoid this?( i dont see how i can avoid removing sleeps(those lil things u get when u wake up in ur eyes..almost feels like grain of sand in ur eye lol)??

Hey Lost,

You can definately do those things, its just to be really careful when you do.

The problem i see is that if you are too rough your going to annoy the area alot, making things much worse. Be gentle and you'll be fine, just dont lay into it.

About the darkness in colour when you put the cream on. It does happen for sure. Thats why I only put the cream on at night time, just after I have a shower, which is usually an hour or so before i go to bed. By the time i wake up its no longer red.

I stopped putting it on in the morning cos it looked pretty bad.

Good luck, let me know how you go :)

If your getting a bad reaction i'd stop using it, Lost.

Check for Sexy Malibu's earlier post on possible other causes of dark eye circles.

I know that mine were caused more because of skin damage than something under the surface. I drank tons of water, got lots of sleep etc and they still stayed. It was because the skin had become damaged over time.

Through lots (and lots!) of trial and error I finally managed to find something that has worked for me.

If yours are not caused by the skin being damaged, then its possible that it could get irritated by the cream.

I'm no doctor but see if the other things are a problem and definately fix them first.

Maybe someone else can help?

Look very closely at your under-eye.

Do you see little little little red/peachy dots coming through?
Thats what I see when I do it right.
Right = not too much aloe, and dont let anything other than the aloe get onto your undereye (like face-wash, acne cream etc...).

I've noticed a reduction, but sometimes I'll notice one (or both) are worse, but its usually because I erred (rubbed it in too hard, or put too much on).

I hope me being persistant with this pays off :D

After a while Jimbo it just becomes habit :)

When your eyes go bad is it for a long time or an hour or so?

If your putting on the cream after a shower theres no reason to rub in the cream at all really. Just lightly smear it over the area and your done. It absorbs through the open pores.

Aloe Vera is an extremely potent transdermal substance. YOu don't need to rub it in in any situation, that will only make it worse. Like Jungle said, just let it sit there and it will absorb by itself.

I'm about to give this a shot. I have 2 aloe plants, so I'll just cut off a small piece of the stalk and rub the 100% pure aloe under my eyes after taking my morning and evening showers. Good thread.

If, in the next 5 days, mine hasn't gotten better then I doubt that anyone else's will either. I'm using 100% pure aloe, straight from the stalk of the plant. It's been 2 days with no change.

The Bishop,

Mine got alot better using the aloe. You should have seen them before. Thats why i posted that i used it. Cos it really worked wonders. Mine were really, really bad. I've had strangers comment about them. No fun.

But i never used 100% so i'm not sure. I know for a fact that it was a fair bit longer than 5 days before i saw much of an effect.

If you can i would recommend that you buy a tube of 97% or better Aloe gel. It would be alot easier on you than using the plant :)

Lost,

Definately apply it once a day, at night time. I have been using 97% Aloe gel for a while with even better results than i had with the lanolin stuff that I was using when i originally posted.

If you can, i'd say you should get some Aloe gel like i said to The Bishop.

Heres what I do:

About an hour before bed I have a warm shower, dry off, then i grab the gel tube and put a little dollop on my index finger (left hand), then i very gently cover the area under my left eye (just making sure its wet, no rubbing or anything, just make the whole area is wet) then do the same with your right hand on your right eye. Then i forget about it, watch some tv and then go to bed.

I just had to get into the habit of putting it on and i was fine.

If you cant have a shower, then i would wet your face with some warm water, dry off then apply it.

It may go a bit red for a while after applying, but its never there the next day for me.

Give it some time, as long as its not getting worse, keep it up.

Definately think about getting a tube of gel though guys.

Good luck :)

It's improved a bit, or it could be my imagination. Then again, it's only been a few days - a week or two should tell the difference. If it hasn't, I'll get the tube. However, I'd have thought that the plant's juice, being 100% pure, straight from the dirt, would be far more effective than the gel, which has been processed from the plant, stored in a factory, mixed with 3% chemicals, stored on a shelf, then bought and put on your skin. :p

Thats good Bishop :)

I'd say it probably would be better to have the hundred percent. Just i dont think theres too much in those couple of percent. And its tons easier just to squeeze the tube :)

Hope it keeps improving!

I tried this and I keep getting the similar reaction to Jimbo - the skin gets a rash under my eyes - red, bumpy, and EXTREMELY itchy, like I have bloody poison ivy or something. This is the 100% Aloe Gel I'm using. I put it on other parts of my body - but I only get this weird reaction under the eyes. My Sis seems to think it's flushing out something to the surface. But the dark seems to be fading gradually.

Hey Don Juanabbe,

With the 100% is that straight from a plant or can you buy it at a store?

Thats pretty strange though, its making the area like a rash, but the darkness is actually fading. How long does the rash last?
