I think the whole point OP is describing is based upon mate selection for relationships, LTRs, marriage, etc. I don't think much has changed with respect to casual sex, if anything it's easier than ever before. It doesn't take much now to stand out among the crowd of overweight men, soyboys, redditors/simps, antisocial coomers, etc. Seriously, almost every woman I'm with comments on how she's so relieved I say or do x, for instance, how guys won't choke, slap, spank, dirty talk, hair pull, etc.

I have long suspected that most modern women simply do not want to be with a man that they cannot control. So I do think OP is correct that most women, with regards to mate selection for relationships, either want a pure simp they can walk all over, or a rich man who can provide her with a luxurious lifestyle.

Ergo, I can see why being an above average, or even exceptional man could be unappealing to them because you're too high value for them to feel secure and comfortable, but not high value enough to completely hijack their hypergamy.

That general point can be true. A lot of semi-successful men today ($75-$125k annual salary) are thirsty men. A man with a $90k salary can't provide enough money to give her a great lifestyle, especially when she's likely already making at least $75k if she's a 30+ year old woman with a bachelor's degree and a white collar job.

$90k won't buy much in the conventional dating world now, so that guy might end up as an OnlyFans pay pig.

Yes I am posting this out of frustration. I'm meeting many women (in their late twenties) who put in very little and expect a lot. I've never in my life had to put up with so much arrogant and self-entitled garbage from women of today.

Part of the challenge has to do with adjusting to the generational gap brought by the Internet. Their desires are the same, but there's a lot of new ideas that's been affecting their minds, from feminism and the shows they watch, to dating apps and Instagram.
