I'm a fanboy of M.$ and you're a fanboy of Sony. No problem with that.
HAHAHAHA! Man, I absolutely hate what Sony are doing now with the PS3 and think it's going to fail, and the joke that is PSP, and i'm not getting any of their future systems for now, but PS2 was AWESOME! Being a fan of any one company is stupid because companies change, i'm just interested in good games.

I just think Wii will take the top spot now is all because it offers a gaming revolutoin and X360 doesn't, plus my whole family likes Wii and they've never been into this kind of stuff before now!

The Xbox 360's best games are all First-Person Shooters or Sports. The 360 lacks good games from other genres. Sure you have xbox live arcade or viva pinata, but the 360 lacks games to support gamers who are fans of other genres like RPGs (FFXI is overrated and Blue Dragon hasn't come out stateside) and platformers. Xbox 360 is catering to hardcore gamers, and gamers older than 20. It does very well at serving its audience though with plenty of titles. Xbox Live is still the best online service even though it costs money. It is by far the most developed and advanced of the three.

The Nintendo Wii offers innovation. Nintendo's purpose was to expand the market by using simple controls, and revolutionary gameply to introduce gaming to young children, women, and seniors. Nintendo's main focus is actually to expand the market then to cater to its loyal fans. Nintendo Wii is similar to the DS in the aspect that it offers something new in gaming. When the DS was released, not many games efficiently used its hardware. It took years for developer to develop games that were unique. I believe the same holds for the Wii. In a year, we'll start seeing those games that use Wii's controls for unique gameplay experiences like Wii Sports, Wii Play and Wario Ware Smooth Moves. But the main audience for Wii will still be casual gamers and nintendo fans.

The Playstation 3 has many cons. It's hard for developers to make games for. It's overly priced when the difference in graphics is hardly noticeable. The PS3 hardly offers any games that justify its price right now. 2007 has great games(VF5, Heavenly Sword, MGS4) for the PS3, but not enough. Many of the games coming for PS3 will be ported to 360, like FFXIII. Blu-ray might just end up like Sony's betamax. Developers are noticing the lackluster userbase of the PS3. Why make a game for the PS3 when its cheaper to make the game for 360 which has almost 10x the userbase? Not to mention the tie ratio for software with PS3 is bad. For every 4 PS3s sold, 3 PS3 games are sold. If many owners of the PS3 aren't buying games, why make the game for PS3?

The PS2 had great games for all genres, so almost all demographics interested in video games picked it up. If there was a PS2 system this generation, it would in fact be the Nintendo DS. The Nintendo DS offers many unique games that cater to audiences, and with new developers(Square-Enix has announced 14 DS games from a year ago it was just 3) jumping on the wagon, it's still gaining momentum.

The sytem you decide to get should be based on the audience you're trying to entertain. Women, children, seniors, casual gamers, nintendo fans should get the Nintendo Wii. If you're a hardcore gamer and are easily impressed by graphics get a 360. If you want a cheap Blu-Ray player, George Foreman Grill, or Sony First Party Games, get a PS3. But almost all gamers should get a Nintendo DS because it offers games for everyone.

Definately the Wii.

Simple reasons. Wii is cheaper.

Consider this as well, at present the best gaming machine out there is the PS3. It is far superior to the Xbox360.

So if you're a serious gamer, then go get the PS3, if not, then get the Wii.

Forget the Xbox 360.

I have an old Sega Master System in the basement that I'll sell you for $199. That's even cheaper than the Wii!

LMAO

Are you kidding me?

I actually don't own any game consoles. I'm more inclined towards computer games, although lately I have very little time for games . . .

The reason I'm at all opinionted on this matter is that I was thinking of getting a game console, so I did a little reasearch.

Price is not the highest concern for me, but it's definately one of the concerns.

a little bit OT. I know that for the xbox, you could get a chip and put a harddrive into the console so that you could hypothetically rent a game from blockbuster, copy it to your harddrive, then play it whenever you wanted. Hypothetically, assume that someone wanted to do this for an xbox360. A) is this possible and B) if it is possible, where would one in this situation look to commence the process?

Well, you did say that people should choose the Wii for the "simple reason it was cheaper." Would you buy a basic eMachine from Sams Club to play your MMORPGs just because it's cheaper.

You're not quoting me correctly! :nono:

I said "Simple reasonS." and listed two, not one.

As far as eMachines go, yeah, they aren't the best, and I wouldn't get one to play games, but I would definately buy one to work on spreadsheets. It's all about what you need... I don't play MMORPGs, though I am temted to try.

they look almost exactly the same, impossible to call any "better".

It's the perfect time for Nintendo to introduce Wii with graphics hitting a brick wall like this
They don't at all... the PS3 is missing like 3/4 of the things in the review mirror on the first game and the more games you look at the worse off the ps3 looks

True, but you only refered to one for the Wii, it was cheaper. After that you spoke about the PS3. ;)

Depends on how you choose to interpret it. Maybe I should have put up numbers.;)

Anyway, we're getting WAAAAY off course with this. The Wii is better for a casual gamer. The PS3 has the best graphics. The XBox360 has the best game library of the three (atleast for now).

So my choice the Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

Hah, the Wii has absolutely steamrolled the 360 since then. Funny reflecting back.
XBox 360 reaches 10 million U.S. sales before Wii or PS3

Perhaps you shouldn't reflect so far back to whichever sources you're getting your "steamrolled" numbers from. Want to talk about which has the largest online gaming community?

I will say that the Wii has an interesting group of enthusiast. It suits them well.

Yeah Wii has sure steamrolled it alright.

At having no games and having a sh!tty mostly non working online system.

I haven't been able to get an online match of SSBM going since I got it.

Bottom line is the only reason Wii is doing as good as it is, is because its motion control gimmick really appealed to tons of people who were not gamers before. Its gimmicky nature intrigued the non gaming masses as well the casuals. The same people that bought Paris Hilton's sh!tty music CD's are now buying Wii's to play overly simplistic baby games like Wii Sports and Wii Play. The games are fun no doubt but don't do anything to advance gaming like oh say Ninja Gaiden II, GTA IV, Halo 3, Mass Effect and Oblivion do and they're not as fun as the more advanced 360 games either.

So while the Nintendo drones are satisfied with their gaming drought and their console collecting dust (as usual with Nintendo consoles) I'm cutting off heads and having one hell of a time in Ninja Gaiden II for Xbox 360.

If you're looking to game, then go with a 360 or a PS3.

Wii's are more social and have a better gimmick than the other systems. Its built for children, where as the other two have "aged" with the gamer population.
