XBOX 360.

Better Graphics. Did you say First Person Shooter? Did I say Halo 3?

XBox Live.

It may be more expensive but it's worth it if you're trying to really jump into the next-gen.

I have a Wii, it's an awesome console. Great controller, great games and I always loved Nintendo. My girlfriend loves it too. I think she wouldn't like the Xbox 360. So you can even use it when a girl comes over to your house. Great for doing something physical together
She started to get a little bit aggressive after the boxing game though. That was pretty funny.

Wii is free online gaming. Xbox Live isn't.
Xbox is more expensive
Nintendo has more character and depth.
Nintendo has more exclusive classic game series.
Nintendo has an more awesome controller (and you can also use the old controllers)
Xbox has some more power, but who needs power when you have great gameplay.
Nintendo isn't kiddy, it's for all ages, check out games like Red Steel, Metroid (and even Perfect Dark on N64, DAAAAMN, that game was awesome.)

It's an easy choice, if you think about it.

I just read that the wii has outsold the PS3 (who would have thunk it). However, Microsoft just released XNA Game Studio Express which is a set of tools to design your own XBOX games and it's a free download[/u]!

Either way, I say it's a tossup whether you want to play Zelda or Gears of War. Personally I chose Gears of War but I'm eventually going to buy a wii for Zelda.

I still can´t really decide what to get. I think the Wii will get boring after a while because there aren´t any good games besides zelda and most of them are kiddie games IMO. XBOX 360 however has great graphics, but other than that no real innovations. Has anybody got both consoles?

Wii. The Wii is the bestselling gaming console in the United States and Europe. The Wii is fun to play, extremely addicting, and perhaps even healthy to play. The PS3 offers no real advantages over the PS2, and comes with a ton of set-up problems if you only have one TV for your gaming needs. I'd buy a PSP over a PS3 any day. The major benefit of the Xbox 360 is the Xbox Live Marketplace and XNA Game Studio Express, if you're interested in developing your own games.

You also have to consider price.
  • Wii is $250.00 USD, if you don't go through resellers.
  • PS3 is $600.00 USD, if you don't go through resellers.
  • XB360 can get very expensive, regardless of resale markup.
Being a game developer "in the industry", I highly recommend the Wii if you want to have fun. If you want "next gen", get a damn PC. ;)

To note, the Wii has outsold the PS3 because of supply shortages, NOT demand. In all reality it will be really hard to choose at least until next holiday season who might come out on top.

There will be a Resident Evil for Wii
That game will be awesome with the new controls. Ok, I finally decided I´m gonna buy the Wii.
I got another question though: You can play GC games on the Wii right? Do you use Wii controls then or do you have to have the GC controller to play them?

You need a GC controller to play them, and memory card. It basically "turns into" a GC when you put in a GC disc.

There are supply shortages for each product. Sony has been claiming they solved their supply problem for awhile now. Wii continues to outsell every other next-gen gaming system combined.

I have to admit, I have all three... Of the three, I play the Wii the least. I mean, I play video games for a reason. If I wanted to exercise, I would go outside and exercise. Moreso than that however, no real games (yet.. I am dying for the day they remake a REAL mario bros game, not that mario sunshine ****)

I play my PS3 more than any of the other two (newer) systems... mainly because I have madden and that's what my friends and I play. Resistance is a bad ass game (at least to me)

LOL, I was playing Madden on the Wii the other day, liked it a lot more than the 360 version :D don't know about the PS3 version but they look exactly the same

Yes, it's absolutely amazing. I'll just say that it doesn't lie when it says "the biggest Zelda adventure ever" on the back of the box. It's almost TOO huge, lol. It's like a modern day Ocarina of Time, amazing gameplay, music and story. Check out one of the trailers for it.

Get Xbox 360.

It has a massive headstart lead on the other two consoles and a great game library.

Oblivion owns.

Gears of War is fun.

Saint's Row is the only good GTA rip off that has ever come out and its on the 360 too with online play.

Basically Xbox Live owns too as does just about everything else about the console.

Nintendo keeps screwing their fans over with crappy underpowered systems because they know their fans are so foolishly loyal they will buy anything with the Nintendo label on it.

Their consoles are only worth something when the mandatory Mario and Zelda games arrive.

Playstation 3 is too pricey and it seems Sony is on their way out of the top spot with that and many other bad decisions ie no innovation, garbage bin games etc.

Xbox 360 basically looks primed to take over Sony's top spot and have more going good for it than any other console before it.

So yeah save your money and buy that not a Playstation 3 or Wii as if you have a Gamecube you can save some money and just buy Zelda Twilight Princess for that which I have done.

You can also avoid tennis elbow by getting it on the Gamecube as you can totally avoid using the gimmick controller thats been passed off as the new innovation in controllers by the brainwashed herd of fanboys and Nintendo itself.

Oh yeah and if I must say more...

We Xbox 360 owners are getting Halo 3 not the other two consoles.

I didn't think there would be "fanboys" on this forum, but there's a prime example lol. Dude 360 is great, i enjoyed mine, but no way in hell is it going to take over the top spot, all the games are too similar, it's not a system for everyone like PS2 is now with its huge variety, and what Wii will be.

DUDE, Wii all the way. 360 is alright..but yea, it just has better graphics is all. Im personally a fan of "kiddie" games because they're good to have when you have friends/chicks over.

This is true. It is easier to get I woman to play Zelda or Mario over GTA. But that's why I'm a proponent to owning multiple systems.

"Dude 360 is great, i enjoyed mine, but no way in hell is it going to take over the top spot"

It already has.

The other two consoles are playing catch up.

They have to prove that they can take back the lead from Microsoft who has the headstart and very solid diverse game library in place.

You reveal your fanboyism by defending your company Sony against what I have said but if you weren't a fanboy and just went by the facts you would simply say the race isn't over yet and may in the end be too close to call.

I'm a fanboy of M.$ and you're a fanboy of Sony. No problem with that. Just don't try to paint me as the only fanboy in this thread. It doesn't matter what a forum's main discussion topic is about because basically if videogames or sports teams are brought into the discussion the fanboys ie us emerge from the shadows and post about our favorite team/company. :D

"all the games are too similar, it's not a system for everyone like PS2 is now with its huge variety, and what Wii will be."

See your fanboyism continues to emerge.

No problem with that man but anyone not a fanboy would be able to say that games like Viva Pinata and Gears of War or Oblivion are anything alike other than their status as videogames.

The facts are M.$ is catering to Sony's crowd and despite what you say their games are targeting everyone and are not all similar.

They are in an excellent spot to either continue dominating Sony as they are doing now thanks to their headstart or go toe to toe with Sony when its all said and done.

No doubt Sony has hardcore fans but not all of those hardcore fans some of whom are kids are going to be able to convince their parents to shell out $600 for the Playstation 3.

The kids still wanting a console though with many of the kind of games they loved on Sony's system will look at 360 and see its getting most of Sony's library outside of the few exclusives that Sony has ie Metal Gear and Gran Turismo.

They will also have a far easier time convincing their parents to get the console priced $200 less as well.

Basically my view is Sony has got to drop their prices if they want to compete with M.$ long term in this race.

The thing that both Sony and Nintendo has going for them is long standing brand loyalty. Sony has an edge over Nintendo because when Nintendo players grow up, there's a good chance that they will buy a different system if any.

The thing about Sony enthusiast is that they don't necessarily stick with PlayStation because its architecturally better. Anyone remember the 3DO back in the 90's? It was a much better console than the PlayStation architecturally but it ironically also cost $700. It died a quite death.

Microsoft may have a better machine, better marketing, free developer tools, better online gaming, solid Internet appliance functionality and extremely mod-able, but because of the PlayStation loyalist, they will have a long hard climb to compete with Sony. They could hope that they can influence people who outgrow their Nintendo consoles choose to walk over to Bill Gate's dark side.

Buy what's fun. The Wii is fun. Nintendo has built its brand on "fun". The console's name is "Wii". That should be enough. If you like sports, the Wii is set to become the console of choice for sports gamers given EA's strong pledge of support for the console. If you want something new, go with the Wii. Remember, it's codename was Revolution. There's nothing radically different about the PS3 or XB360. They're sequels. If you just want to play first-person shooters, get a PC, seriously.
