when the solider throws the puppy, you can hear the poor scared little thing yelp a few times before he hits the rocky surface that most likely kills him.

he is a monster and i am going to to the peta site to complain about his actions! who's with me?
http://www.peta.org/about/c-contact.asp
we are to email Info@peta.org

Sadly I think PETA is even more morally bankrupt than this soldier. Why not complain to the US Marine Corps?

peta has the power to find an outlet to help in such cause even if they might be short on funds. the name peta alone carries a huge amount of weight.

i have already received a reply from peta:

NOTE: We read all messages, and will forward them, as appropriate, but, due to the large amount of mail we receive, we are unable to respond individually to every item. We hope you will forgive our sending this form letter, but the use of standardized responses saves PETA time and resources vitally needed for our efforts to help animals. If you received this message in error, please accept our apologies.

Thank you for contacting PETA regarding the shocking video footage apparently showing a U.S. Marine throwing a puppy off a cliff.

Please know that we share your outrage. While cruelty must not be tolerated under any circumstances, it is particularly demoralizing for Americans to watch members of our military-which is, without question, made up mostly of true heroes-behave in this manner. PETA caseworkers are currently analyzing the video footage to determine its legitimacy, and we are pushing military authorities to follow through on their own thorough investigation.

YouTube.com had taken down the video by 12:30 p.m. ET Tuesday "due to terms of use violation," according to a banner on the Web site.

however i just accessed it on youtube at 8:49pm so it has not been removed.

 this is the gayest thing I've ever seen in my life! Why do they want to prosecute a US soldier? He didn't hurt anybody! It's a dog for Christ's sake. They are really messed up. I can assure you that the Marines won't do anything to this guy. But these PETA people are just absolutely insane.

so should it be ok to kill retarded children who have no more intelligence than a dog?

i mean, im assuming your point on the hedgehog is that it will serve no useful purpose in human society therefore its no big loss.

so i guess it should be ok to stick retarded kids in a microwave as well.

the reason we punish this actions is because they are WRONG. they are the behaviors of uncivilized, cruel human beings and in order to keep societal order these people are put in jail or severly punished in the hopes that it stems them from repeating the behaviors.

i think 5 years for committing an act of such cruelty is fine. (now if you want to rebut my argument, then say something like 'well should you go to jail for pulling the wings off a fly?)

Well, should you go to jail for pulling the wings off a fly?-- how bout' killing a butterfly in a jar? Or how about walking across the grass... I might step on a grasshopper or something-- ****, I might even hurt the grass by walking across it! Where does it end?!

A human life is worth more to me than that of an animal... even yours, although you are a stupid ****, I would still save your sorry ass from a burning building if I had to choose between you and a whole litter of puppies, the b!tch who had them, the house cat and all the house plants combined... even after everything you've said to me.

Say it with me... "Humanity". I've got it, do you?

Yes, but as it falls the sound does not get further away or quieter. That's how you know it's not real.

This fuzz around this is because video shows a puppy being thrown off a cliff. If he threw a raccoon or a sheep off a cliff, nobody would care. Puppies are way too cute!

Let's stay on topic. This thread is not about Iraq. I've had to delete over 20 Iraq related posts in this thread.

Stay on topic.

Actually I have to agree with Paradox and apologize for hijacking this thread. It's a topic I am passionate about, but at the end of the day the mods are right to prevent political banter because most folks here can't discuss things rationally and this quickly turns into a name-calling sissy-fest.

Turning back to the topic at hand, whether the video is real or not it has raised some interesting debates regarding human vs animal rights.

Personally I am infuriated by anyone that harms an innocent creature that I can relate to. I LOVE dogs and anybody that hurts one in my presence will get the ass-kicking of his life.

With that in mind, I dont know if a jail sentence is the answer for this soldier. Maybe a dishonorable discharge with some mandatory psychotherapy, but jail seems a bit over the top.

I think the best form of justice would be to put him in a closed room with me, Karma and Joekerr for some whoop-ass therapy. It would be like the closing scene from Tarantino's "Death Proof" (except we would let him live in pain)

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.

Thank you for not locking this thread just yet despite all the off topic crap... I'm still waiting for a response here...

Also, that was a great point about how the sound of the dog's cries never move away as it is thrown, I've noticed that as well. Photoshop can do some pretty amazing things... it is very possible that this was faked.

Auto-gain on modern state of the art consumer audio recorders can work wonders too. The quality of the sound doesn't make it a fake for sure. On the other hand it's very possible the soldier drops the puppy and either has help in a fast switch or someone else off camera tosses a dummy.

I suppose a pissed off recently dropped puppy just off camera would explain the sound as well. I would love for this to be the truth.

The sound IS a bit off, but I dont know if that's because, like you, I am hoping that these guys are not that cold-blooded. Still, if it was fake it is odd that they would put up dudes contact info like that. I wonder how many people have actually called that number.

And you would live the rest of your life in debt or in prison because of it, too. I'm not defending his actions, but isn't this just an excuse for you to exercise your own otherwise dorment violent and cruel nature? In your own viewpoint, doesn't this make you the same as him if you take pleasure from causing him pain? I thought that you were against the need for violence and aggression, fingz?!-- in fact you made a comment in this very thread about that, but I guess it was deleted so I can't quote you on it.

Actually, yes... you can. If you beat a puppy, you'll teach it to hate. Like the saying goes, "if you get em' young enough, you can teach em' anything." They do the same thing with child soldiers.

The list goes on. Sometimes these are 'nice' dogs that come from good homes... they just see a small child or a weak person one day and their instinct takes over and then they kill them-- for pleasure.
