whoa...spotlight...nice haha its an honor Quik :D

Yeah haha you guys are making me feel disproportionate lol.

Man i wish i squated 320 lbs Quik - thats a a lot of weight. How much did you weigh when you did that btw?

my guess is i could rep 280 lbs possibly, but we will see how i feel this monday. I'm pretty worried about incline press. I've yet to improve. I've had a bad shoulder (gone now), i deloaded, and now i'm full strength.

Btw Quag, yeah i know of that WBA thread but I'm scared of how long it will take to lose fat - I don't want to lose like 2 lbs of fat and gain next to zero muscle. Not sure how well it will work, but granted i should give it a shot.

Here is a gem that i read quite awhile ago but influences my training-

DoggCrapp's cycle on pennies - http://www.freakzonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22233

Excellent and informative blog on lifting/dieting and other stuff - pretty long but a very interesting read. Helps back up some very important stuff in the vault IMO

Yes that is a good thread.

And as I said above I think you could probably rep 300x1, 280 would be a breeze.

I'm not sure that Quick did those ass to grass, the 320 2x5 that is. He is also probably just built better for squats as well. The deadlift should be higher then the squat in the majority of cases. I actually read somewhere that Poliquin stated it was impossible to have a higher ass to grass squat than your deadlift. This is assuming you are raw of course.

Interesting Quagmire, that makes me feel better. And i do all excerises with no assitance - no gloves, no chalk, no smelling salts.

My goals for this year - may be unrealistic but what the hell

Deadlift 1 rep over 550lbs - rep 500lbs or more
Squat 400 lbs or more *ass to grass
Incline bench 300 lbs

weigh 200 or more pounds of pure muscle

Chalk and ammonia aren't assistance. Chalk stops sweat, you don't actually lift anymore. Ammonia gives you an adrenaline rush, maximizing what ability you do have. Gloves are silly and actually make the exercise harder, by thickening your grip around the bar.

Belts, wraps, suits, straps etc are assistance.

Good luck with your goals.

WED

Felt pretty good, i've felt better but none-the-less here are my results

Incline Bench
1x5 170 lbs
1x5 175 lbs - pretty freakin hard - but i really really wanted to push it DAMN IT
1x3 F 180 lbs - My head almost popped off on the fourth rep - needed spotters help - Still very hard but i had better results - i think i will def be able to do it next week if i eat really hard :box:

Skullcrushers 3x8
1x8 40 lbs
1x8 45 lbs - pretty damn hard but i really wanted to do 50 lbs
1x3 50 lbs F ARGHHHH :cuss: :cuss: ...on the third rep i felt a pain in my left tri, and i finished off on 45 lbs in pain. Stopped hurting shortly after

DB PRESS 3x8
1x8 60 lbs
1x8 60 lbs
1x8 60 lbs - I thought about doing decline but for some reason i just didn't want to bother with that after 2 failures...I'll do it next week

Lateral raises 3x6

1x6 25 lbs
1x6 30 lbs
1x6 35 lbs - HELL YES FINALLY!. It was pretty hard but i got it down with decent form!

Cardio 10 minutes

**I usually buy all my stuff online from amazon but today i ran out of 'Carbo Gain' and bought this stuff called Waximize 'fruit punch' exactly the same kind of stuff but it was HORRIBLE - don't EVER GET. The powder feels wet and gets everywhere. Just plain BAD. I'm ordering Carbo gain right now. What a waste of money.

A couple failures, successes, but i feel next wednesday i will reach new heights at the excerises. It felt like a transistion period so it was good i pushed more weight and i had progress. I am going to eating even more now and hopefully i'll get it.

Til friday

No cardio

All in all great day, every time i do deads i am gaining. Pretty soon who knows, maybe 500 rep in June :D

Nice work, you are getting strong. 400+ for reps will be nothing to sneeze at. Respectable and solid intermediate territory.

Barx8 -1minute rest
75x5 -1 minute rest
105x3 -1 minute rest
135x2 -1 minute rest
165x1 -1 minute rest
195x1 - 1 minute rest
225x1- 1 minute rest
255x1 -1 minute rest
285x1- 1 minute rest
315x1- 1 minute rest
345x1- 3 minute rest

365x5-2minute rest
370x5-2 minute rest
385x5-Done

=20-25 minutes taking time taken to actually lift into account. Are you gabbing with your friends!!! This is not a sewing club!!! :box:

YEs...i'll admit, my best friend is there and usually my brother. I train both of them (my friend reps 350 at 156 lbs). And the warm ups are quick, but the sets aren't usually. Strangers usually come over and talk to us during them, then we make friends and they come distract us. Its hard to get down and get to work. Its like deadliftng is like this secret society of guy lifters, and they all love to talk about it and watch. REALLY annoying sometimes when it ruins the workout.

Ha!

Monday

Another great session...I just keep getting stronger :D

UHHHHHH!!! i thought i did 285 lbs last week, but i really did 265 max rep. WHOOPS...but for some reason it all worked out great. Holy crap, i just realized this haha. This is what happens if you don't watch yourself. I went up 25lbs!!! With great form on the first two sets...wow, i'm lucky i didn't hurt myself lol

Squats 3x5
1x5 - 280
1x5 - 285 Pretty hard...but i felt strong
1x5 - 290 PR last 2 reps i just went below parallel - not extremely deep - i wasn't too happy about that. 290 for reps may be my max for now. I'll have to see

Leg Press 1x15 - 365 lbs - ouch...this was just plain tough

Good Mornings - 2x6

1x6 bar
1x6 65 lbs

First time doing these...need to work on form a bit, but other than that it was nice to do a little change up.

Abs 2x10
1x10 55 lbs
1x10 55 lbs - will def be increasing these to sixty

And like an idiot i forgot to calve raises....(sigh)

Cardio 10 minutes

A great day of increasing...squats were pretty damn good, although i felt i could have done a bit better on them. At the end of this month i am either cutting or doing warbosses guide to gaining muscle while losing fat...probably the latter. Till next time

Much appreciated Quag, i was doing them very similar, i had an idea of how to do them but it was good to see exactly how.

Well today was screwed completely...i'm not very happy. I believe it was a lack of carbs (i forgot to make my usual dextrose shake because i was late - had a cheese burger an hour and a half before workout...DOH!!!!)

Also i ran out of creatine yesterday and the shipping is late on the other stuff i bought....or maybe cause i had to workout earlier than usual...sigh...a lot of dumb $hit today, but despite lack of creatine and carbs...here are my results.

MONDAY

Incline Bench 3x5
1x5 115 lbs
1x5 120 lbs Struggled with last rep...my pride told me i had to do 130 lbs no matter what today, so i did
1x3 130 lbs F
:cuss: :cuss: :cuss:......and the workout pretty much down hill from here IMO.

Skull crushers 3x8
1x8 35
1x8 40
1x5 45 F I was so mad...i didn't even finish

DB Press 3x8 60 lbs - felt weak doing them, but finished them with sub-par form on the last set

Lateral Raise 3x6
1x6 25 lbs
1x6 30 lbs
1x6 35 lbs - well atleast that didn't change...very hard tho

Cardio

All in all...i'm pissed ha. Went to buy Whey afterwards and this is pretty interesting...he was telling me that ON whey is great for leaning up? Told me if i wanted to get bigger i should use mass gainer powders. ---Now this is why i buy all my stuff online. This idiot think i'm a freakin noob...not that powders aren't good, but they contain a crapload of unneeded sugar that makes you fat...and everyone knows solid food is better then powders. Funny, when he asked me what i ate i shut him up pretty fast haha.

Alright my rant is over, maybe it was the time of day, the creatine, or lack of carbs, or just strength...either way...its over, and i'll do better next week.

FRIDAY - Got cut short due to snow...but i got what was important done.

Deadlift 3x5
1x5 375 lbs
1x5 380 lbs
1x4 F 390 lbs PR - i got to the last rep but only could get halfway up...i rested for a minute and tried again but i could barely get the weight up...oh well. Now i know my limit. Needless to say...I was very angry lol

- snow - really lame, but i'll try to go sunday to finish up.

Does anyone use CEE creatine? EFFORT recommended and i bought it, needless to say it tasted AWFUL but you get a ton for $17. I put it in juice. I still think creatine has no benefit to my lifting so much.

*I saw a really great post on IronAddicts.com about progressing in weights. That if you can go up by five, then punch out extra reps...something i'm going to start doing more often on the last set.
http://www.ironaddicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3385

**And another interesting bit of info was that all weights are not exactly as much as they say they are. They could be a 1-2 lbs more or less. Same thing with bars, which could make you think you aren't progressing, but you really are. Something for you guys on here to think about. There is no way to weigh the weights in commerical gyms...very lame. But very good to know so you don't get as discouraged.

I'll be adding some ankle weights to stick on my bench, so i don't always have to go up 5 lbs...but i don't have to stop progressing. I think its a really good idea.

Til next time

You get used to it. I actually like the tang of it in my PWO shake now. Or just put some water in your mouth, tip the powder into the back of your throat and swallow. You hardly taste it that way.

Congrats on another progression on the deadlift. You should be putting PR next to the 390x4 if it is the most you have done. You really shouldn't be angry or anything, your progress has been phenomenal on deads in 2008.

I use ankle weights sometimes for the bench, can work well sometimes.

Keep it up.

Good job, dude! You're definitely making progress. As for your decline situps, which way are your feet? Are they toward the floor or the ceiling?

Thanks very much Quag :D I wouldn't know if i'm progressing normally - good -or not, I am just working hard to get those numbers up and get stronger. Which i've had quite a bit more confidence in myself since starting this journal.

I'll keep it up don't worry. My goals for weightlifting are very important to me. I believe if you work hard enough - with steady progress and devotion - you can do anything. I hope to set an example on the board for other newcomers here.

FYI - am going to be WBA-ing starting monday haha. I will try to get some photos up of myself soon.

the ceiling...'towards the floor' I imagine would be incline situps...which in my mind, would be retarded lol
