Nah a single father still needs to not date single moms. If you have custody of your kids full time, why do you want a woman who still would put her kids before you and yours? Agree completely. So in a way, after a man has kids, he has to be even more of a man to #1, be able to handle the woman, and #2, be able to keep his kids' respect ie keeping them #2.

On second thought, maybe it's best to just stay single until the kids are 18. That's probably what I'd do in that situation. Now that I have my own kids, I'm starting to be an advocate of staying in a marriage or relationship until the kids are grown. I used to be the opposite, thinking that it's best to split so they don't grow up in a negative environment. But these days I think it may be better to grow up with an angry mother and father than without the other. Assuming there's no abuse. People are just too damn selfish, I don't know that there is an answer.

That being said, we cannot relax standards just because people being sh*tty is a reality of the world we live in.

As a single father of one, The only single moms I date are ones that have one child. However, I should have listened to my own advice with the last one: dating a full-time single mother is a waste of time. The only single mother worth dating is one who has the child's father still in the picture. If he's not around, she's going to be highly unavailable.

all things considered i'd prefer a woman with no kids over a woman wtih kids, I think that's for the most part common sense. where i see the gray area is when you use kids in themselves as red flags.

now i agree with the above poster who said that regardless of circumstances, more than one kid assuming neither is grown, i don't care what the circumstances are. it's just not gonna work. You will never have the time, money, energy, to do anything.

But one kid.
