Yep, another reason is the notion that all the prostitutes are being exploited and have no choice

Yeah, and male customers of course have to be tested for STD's as well.

They don't in Nevada and there still has never been a case of transferrence wither way.

How would you pull that off anyway, give the guy a mouth swab and then let him sleep in the storeroom for a few days until the results get back?

Well I'm just saying to make sure everyone is safe if they do participate in this. It may not have happened yet, but it's still possible. Even the porn industry had a little HIV inciddent.

But how would it be implemented? Grabbing a hooker isn't like buying a gun, a five day waiting period isn't going to happen. Unless someone starts marketing "10 minute, at-home" HIV tests where you piss on a stick, I don't see it happening.

testing the customers is unfeasible... no legalized prostitution anywhere in the world does this.

condom 100% of the time seems to work pretty well.

Hey, I just noticed this post and want to add my 2 c (sorry, haven't had time to read the entire backlog)

I live in Australia (yay!) where prostitution is legal, in NSW at least. It's very tightly regulated through a registration process, and I'm always reading in the paper about brothels closed down by the government because they didn't meet standards.

Here must be an exception then, because one key regulation is that sex workers must be regularly tested for STI's. Apparently they also check your genitals before sex for infection. I would wear a condom in any case!!

I've never been to one, but a few of my friends have done it on a "once-in-a-while" basis. Of course it doesn't beat having a girlfriend/regular f-buddy -- at least not $$$-wise.

Anyway, here are what I think are the main pros/cons of seeing a hooker:

PROs:
- simple, no-fuss sex without attachments
- good way to get experience
- good for geting rid of "scarcity mentality"

CONs:
- still fairly expensive (in australia), probably not cheaper than a date
- doesnt replace the euphria of "CONQUEST"! :D
- sex isnt just about getting laid, its about building up social stature

Okay prostitution is legal in alot of places. If you want it in the states, nevada's the word. Who cares what anybody thinks, it's the f*cking middle of no where, and there are other places that are just the same but on th DL. If you want cheap and outside of the country hit up thai land. It's a young mans dream and you can f*ck whatever you want to the for like 20 bills.

I don't know why people have a problem with prostituition, it's the worlds oldest perfession and it certianly isn't going anywhere. A prostitute tried to flag me down on my way to work today but I've got things to do so no dice. Everyone who thinks that it's immoral or what ever should get their head out of their asses because people prostitute themsevles in so many other ways it's laughable. If some one wants to have sex for money let them do it. There are far worse things happening in the world these days.

Prostitution is legal here in New Zealand. I've got absolutely no beef with it whatsoever, if dudes wana slip 'em a few notes to get their end off, it's their choice.

Kinda takes away the fun though. Part of the joy of sex is how you went about getting there. I'd much rather know that it's me, my skills, my charm and my attraction that led a woman into the sack, rather than my wallet.

Forget morals. I just want these chicks to start paying some God dam taxes. I bust my ass everyday for 44 dollars an hour and probably almost half that goes to the government. These strippers and hookers make from 100 to 300 dollars an hour and they get to keep every penny. There's something seriously wrong here :box:

Of course it should be legal. Probably the government thinks it's making money from the fines, but undoubtedly the cost of enforcement (especially considering the ancillary cost of other crime that happens due to this useless diversion) far exceeds the income. Making prostitution illegal is a loss for all, except perhaps married women.

Guys,

Making it legal does NOT take the problems away. I have been to loads of places in the world where prostiution is legal (Amsterdam, Rio, Spain etc) and they all still have problems. For example in Amsterdam the red light district is full of crackheads and drug dealers trying to sell you ****. Ok its true there is a large police presence in the area but it is still grimy...

Personally I think street prostitution should be stopped but "escorts" from home or visiting, Im talking about the £200+ per hour girls should still be allowed.

Also, visit a prostitute if you want to do really dirty things that maybe a normal gilr would object to ;)

well,

it would make the personal feelings of POVERTY and DESPERATION go away for many men... and that was my original argument.
