Anyway, I can relate to the OP very much. I seem to be making this mistake quite often, thinking I'm being "masculine", while I'm really being stuck up.

Depending on how I feel about her hotness, I will either plow on and take her home or drop her off at her house with a cursory peck on the cheek. IN the latter case I always get an explanatory email the next day with a disguised apology and sometimes an invite . Winner !

When I try to imagine the situation, I think things will go like this: As you shut up and let her imagine what you're thinking, the mood would become a little uncomfortable, coz there's a silent conflict going on. She expects you to open the door, you kinda put her in her place by suggesting she would be happy to iron your shirts, then. She then tells you she wouldn't, and basically tells you she expects men to supplicate to her, applying the double standard. It's like she's communicating: "I expect you to supplicate and I'll get away with it. What are you gonna do about it, Jophil?" and waits for your next response... So you tell her "fascinating" and stay silent, which is conveying the message "I dissaprove of your ways". Now, even if she gets a little worried about that, I think a lot of women would just play it hard from there, thinking "This is how I think about things and I will get away with it. I know he's attracted to me and even though he's silent now, the silence will become uncomfortable and he'll be the first to break it. Which means I win!"

You say she'll often back down a bit, beginning to explain her "feminist perspective" and all. First of all, what if she doesn't? What if she stays silent, like I said above, bringing it to ya and expecting you to give in? You can either do the same (which will make the mood go down and probably have the night end in a negative way) or decide to give in to her (which will hopefully get you laid). So what do you do? Let her win in order to get inside her panties or be principe about it and not give in, ending the night wanking off, lol.

Staying with your experiences, if she breaks the silence and begins to explain her feminist perspective, that's not really backing down either. She stays on her opinion (I expect men to supplicate to me), she just backs it up a little, but she's certainly not taking it back! So you say you would then drop her off at her house with a cursory peck on the cheek... I know that's not how you'd want to end the evening, lol. But it's a sacrifice you have to make, because eventually she'll give in and email you some disguised apology , perhaps an invite, and you win after all. Is that how I should interpret your approach, Jophil? One should be willing to play it hard and not give in, even if that kinda screws your night, because you know you'll win in the long run anyway?

If that's the case... Then why not do this right aaway like the OP did? I mean, the convo in the car and everything after that, it's all just a continuation of the conflict that started when she expected you to open the door for her. Why drag that conflict on? Why not tell her straight away "No." and bring her to her car if she won't accept your "no" and wants to leave? It's basically the same situation as what I talked about above. She wants you to supplicate and isn't willing to give in, and so aren't you, so the night ends. Too bad.. Next day, she might send you that email just as well as she would in the other situation, right?

So what's the difference between dragging the conflict on through more conversation, fencing with words, staying silent in the car etc. or simply working things out, right here, right now and say "No"? Experience tells me you usually get better results when you drag it along, instead of cutting things short... But I can't really put my finger on WHY it works like that. Could you (or anyone else) explain?

Instead of using the opportunity to DHV in some way, he took it into combat.
She then sh!t tested his rigid stance, and it all fell apart from then on.
