Canada (aside from other places around the world) is where there are still some real men left and the women chosen by them are extremely happy.

I'll say that - Canada, and Toronto espeically, is politically correct to the hilt. Toronto is a different climate to the rest of the country man, the women here are as stuck up and feminist as you can imagine - it would be the worst city in the world for dating, if not for all the foreign chicks.

Canadian women from Toronto suck. They're either Britney Spears/Avril Lavigne wannabes with chips on their shoulders or bitter feminists.

Damn, I wish I would've seen this thread a little bit earlier before you guys beat me to it.

I actually countered a feature columnist in a local paper here in Reno a few months ago for almost the same topic. No reply of course, but it felt good.

What really works me up is that there's this female assumption that there'll be no counter to an article like this because men are pigs, they know it and none of them would take the time to call her on her blatant sexism - not to mention that no woman would think to write a counter to her point.

My response was something to the effect of this:
"I find it fascinating that when a man dates multiple women simultaneously he's a labelled 'Player', yet when a woman simultaneously dates a multitude of men she's being 'prudent' or exploring her option in her own best interest."

For every double standard there is for a woman there's another for a man. It's just that we don't see them as such and/or as men it sounds like whining - the kiss of death for any guy who wants to express confidence in order to get laid. So we put up and shutt up and women assume they own the term 'double standard' and wave it around like a banner.

I think it's a major fallacy to label this feminism and demean feminism based on that. Feminism is much deeper than this stereotype about a bunch of angry women wanting to spoil your fun. It's most of all about giving women the opportunity to get out of the kitchen and lead real lives. Feminism was also pro-sexual revolution people. Be thankful!!

Good point. Feminization isn't the same as feminism. Understand though that feminization is an agency of feminism, but the 2 aren't mutually exclusive.

That said, I'd also point out that in the evolution of modern feminism, the emphasis has gone from a spirit of striving for equality to a demand for restitutions disguised as striving for equality.

If it were about equality, we'd see women lobbying to be included in the draft and no man would ever have to be drafted until a few million women died in war.

Some women actually are campaigning to be put on combat duty, for one thing.

A few friends of mine are taking Women's Studies, and the whole thing is much more complicated. Feminism is reevaluating itself in many ways and looking at new approaches. A good example of this is the current debate over the "glass ceiling" effect in corporations -- there is an ongoing discussion within the feminist community over how much the unproportionality of female executives can be blamed on sexism, and how much on the fact that women tend to put family before their jobs.

On one hand, women have achieved great gains in equality in past few decades. On the other hand, they still get less pay for the same work, still get sexually harassed, still get called "feminazis", still have to deal with all the pressures from fashion magazines and models. That is, as a matter of fact, exactly what the fashion industry is trying to do to us guys right now -- make us insecure about our looks so we'll buy their beauty products/gym memberships/creams/pills/magazines/clothes/cars/etc.

Actually women's studies seems to be morphing into something alot more inclusive -- Gender Studies, which encompasses relations, similarities and differences between the sexes, how they interact, all the way to the issues facing those who are asexual/transsexual/etc.

I guess what I'm basically saying is that all those who take a shallow look at feminism and stereotype feminists as a bunch of b1tchy spoiled girls who want to ruin their fun are really cheating themselves of a real understanding of what it's all about.

Think about how great it would be to have the woman bring in the money and be a house husband. All you would have to do is stay at home and go to gym so you didn't get fat.

You could take a nap at any point during the day, have a bbq, wax the car, play video games, etc...

Then you could call up the wife and say,

Actually, Canadians are politically the same as americans. Most people forget that the current liberal government is a minority government. if we only had two parties like the US the conservatives would win. The problem here is that all the french conservatives don't vote PC and they vote for their own french party.
