it's not good or bad, it's just a comparison. My waist is about 27-28 and my shoulders are about 46-47

You lucky S.O.B.

Chin ups really make a world of difference to your back when doing ALOT of them and frequently,I noticed that if i purposly overtrain a certain part of my body but having sufficiant rest,i can grow it at a more accelerated rate :D

How often are you hitting your back? I want mine as wide as possible as soon as possible.
i am insane.I have hit back and shoulders everyother day before and gotten really good results, though the only thing i do is either 100 pull ups alternating with chin ups and the only shoulder exsersize i do is military press, either high rep or high weight.that and curls.I have a barbell, weights and a pull up bar in my room ,that's all i need.

I'm 6ft 1, 81kg, no idea of BF% but I think it's much too high.

You guys think I need to be focusing on cutting and forget about lifting for the moment?

df

definitely do not forget about lifting. Also forget about "cutting" and read this--

http://www.sosuave.net/forum/showthread.php?t=84119

don't forget to always lift big. the bigger you lift the more fat you're going to feel like your losing.

Cool thread. I don't have any pictures yet, I'll get some later. So far though I've been lifting about 4-5 days a week for 2 months and gained 10lbs of lean muscle despite my s.hitty diet.

Of course, I'm reaching; you appear exceptionally fit. But if you're serious about taking your physique to the next level, adding some width to your back and shoulders will do wonders.
Thanks for the input. There are three areas that I'm focusing in on as of late;

-I want that full 'u' shape to each pec,my outer pecs kinda of lack compared to the rest of it

-Widen my upper back as you mentioned, this one drives me crazy

-Make my triceps bigger

I've really been hitting the wide grip rows and pulldowns HARD as of late,it's paying off but not as fast as I'd like it to. I'll look into the lat raises.

As for supplements, that's still a no-go for me. For my Omega-3s I just eat unsalted peanuts around the clock. I still don't touch creatine and for protein I just eat egg whites, ground turkey, tuna + a little cheese and I pound down milk all day.

Again, thanks for the input and advice.

@ Espi,

Todays back workout today was bada55! It consist of;

Wide Grip Rear Pulldowns

This thing wear you lean forward and pull the bars back

Wide Grip Rows,I found the widest grip bar I could and went to town

Upright Rows

Wide Grip Front Pulldowns were I leaned back a little and pulled to my chest

Sorry I don't know the names. My upper back was stretching my wife beater by the time I left the gym,I think I'll stick to this wide grip stuff for awhile.

Peanuts have a hell of a lot of omega-6 and naff all omega-3. Get your omega-3 from fish oil.

having a wider than usual grip doesn't matter. You just look really stupid in the gym, open yourself to injury and reduce your amount of load. Having a wide back is all genetics.

I thought Omega 3s were the unsaturated fats?
no, not at all. Omega 3's are found in fish and flax and some other foodstuffs (walnuts) and the quality of these acids is highest in fish because it contains EPA/DHA as opposed to ALA etc.. of which the conversion rates to EPA/DHA is poor.

other unsaturated fats such as olive, rapeseed, peanut etc.. do not contain omega 3's. get your fish oil. if there's one supplement (which you could get from diet if you eat lots of salmon, herring etc) you should always get it's fish oil.

your fats should come from 10-40g fish oil a day, whatever you get in eggs and meat (and cheese, cream etc for the high fat guys), and the rest from mono's (olive oil etc) - the poly's for your EFA's (beware of too many non-omega3 poly's such as sunflower oil which can jack up estrogen), the saturates for hormone output and the mono's for easily-burned fuel.. (well, that's a very simplified version of it but that's the general gist)

not true.. wide-grip chins along with stretching and scapula manipulation (altering your skeletal structure) can dramatically change the width of your back.

I also think rack chins are better than regular chins for width as more load can be used.

How in the hell are you supposed to alter your skeletal structure?!

it can be done while you're still young and the bone structure is fairly pliable. it can however screw you up if you overdo it.

Man if only everyone else my age wanted to lift consistently. I've gone through several workout buddies until I found my current ones now, which are 21+y/o. My original lifting buds were my age,19 & 20,but damn were/are they inconsistent, one day they think they can lift another day they wanna go catch a movie. Figures,oh well, life goes on and so does my lifting.

we'll he's not saying he wants to lift for them is he? i think what he's trying to say is that he wishes he had consistent partners. Generally i agree. It is a better experience when you have a spotter, someone to use the machine you're on while you're resting in between. Bits of chit chat here and there. Humans are social creatures by nature.

I find I can lift more with a buddy there. Not to mention having someone to spot you.

Lifting with a buddy is a no-brainer.
