I am in somewhat of the opposite position. Despite being 32, I prefer women in the 45-65 age range (I might even be willing to go above 65 on a case-by-case basis).

Is there anything different about the approach a man should use when trying to get a woman significantly older than himself?

Plus, with this type of age gap, there's an unwritten rule that a traditional relationship is unrealistic. Therefore, both parties know right off the bat that the arrangement is sex-only.

I used to only date older women with lots of money, the thing is they can date to more their own tastes as opposed to servicing or being influenced by their social circles as younger women do and are.

I agree about insecurity, but I have a different angle.

I think they might find younger guys attractive, but some might have mental hangups about going forward with a hookup or FWB with that younger guy.

Sort of like… “I don’t do that anymore” or “I shouldn’t be doing that at my age.” In others words, they might talk themselves out of it.

You might be right.

When I was in my early 20s, I got with a 48 year old. She asked me ahead of time if I've been with an older woman. In retrospect, she probably wanted to make sure I wouldn't be shocked at her body.

And yeah, making the woman feel more attractive couldn't hurt.
