Having large muscles has absolutely nothing to do with being healthy. It is all just for show.

Show me on this list where it says "cause of death = muscles not large enough." The only part of gym that might help you is the cardio. Diet is WAY more important in preventing arterial blockages.

I've known this for a long time and confirmed it by asking several doctors. I will listen to the doctor with the MD rather than the "bro science" gym rat. And you should do.

Right. Low calorie intake is seen to be good for longevity.

No I was not sarcastic
A good way to be healthy is to monitor your cholesterol ratio of LDL to HDL. Also to get advanced tests on your arteries. For example, you can get an ultrasound on your heart, you can get a stress test where you wear a heart monitor while running on a treadmill, and you can get a "cardiac calcium test" where they can see if any plaque has begun to form in your coronary artery.

I got all these tests back in 2019 and I was practically perfect on all the tests.

I still eat healthy (limit/avoid saturated fats and sugar) while I'm home, but I eat like sh1t when I'm on vacation. I just spent a week in Austria and it was nothing but Bratwurst and Frankfurters. But I only allow myself to do that because I remember how good my tests were back in 2019.

I trained constantly - really hard for a year and a half and ate perfectly and all I got was the toned, athletic kinda non professional swimmer look
This is all you realistically need, it appeals to the largest demographic of women. Most women don't want a guy as big as Ronnie coleman despite what a lot of Gym guys think.

You are correct that a good personality and game can always seal the deal. The mental exercise here is to ask yourself:

"If I could clone myself and one version of me remained exactly as I am, and the other gets jacked, given identical circumstances which version of me would a woman I am courting pick?"

Some truths are self-evident. Why should one not improve everything one can relate to the things that can make you more desirable, if the goal is TO BE DESIRABLE?

You do realize women are not going to go up to a guy and say that, right? The guy still has to approach, carry a conversation, charm, get the number and escalate accordingly. Guys who are BAD with women cannot do this. NOTHING will change that. They still have to interact with these women, display good socials skills and emotional intelligence, know what to say, when to say it, etc. Muscles doesn't suddenly solve all of this. It's very naive and ignorant to think it does.

I am not big, not that tall, and put my jacked friends to shame when it comes to getting women. They have focused on the gym, I have focused on psychology. Reading people, situations, knowing when to be mysterious, how to use social proof, mastered being non-reactive, don't chase, smooth talker, comfortable in any situation. You think working out gives you the edge on me? I'm not trying to be a d!ck, I'm just telling you that social intelligence is what dictates how well you do with women. That is the bottom line.

agreed most muscular guys are just fat dudes with strength. In addition, I think most of these gun bros have low testosterone count and are basically sterilized

You are correct in that "large muscles" have little to do with health however muscle and their strength very much do have to do with health. I rarely take any diet and fitness advice from my doctor, whom is slightly overweight and had a total of 2 weeks instruction on nutrition in medical school. They tow the industry dogma and doctors aren't any healthier than the rest of the population with their "knowledge." Bodybuilders/ Athletes may not use their knowledge in the healthiest ways, but many are masters at understanding and manipulating their bodies for the wanted response. As we age are hormones diminish. As they diminish, we lose muscle mass and bone density (Sarcopenia/ Osteoporosis). This is also a way to get it's nutrients, protein & calcium in lieu of insufficient diet. Eventually, this is not enough so the body starts in on the organs. This is the beginning or the end. So the more muscles and bone mass you have entering later stages of life, the better and healthier you will be. On the "Cause of Death list is Heart disease, Diabetes, kidney disease, and Alzheimer's. Some call Alzheimer's type 3 Diabetes. All of those are metabolic disorders and almost always have the component of insulin resistance within the disorder. Go on PubMed and you will see the irrefutable evidence that resistance training has had a positive effect at reducing and/or eliminating many of these Metabolic disorders. Chronic and extreme cardio ravage the body. It floods the body with stress hormone and suppresses the immune system and breaks down bone and muscle. Many marathoners get flu like symptom after running a race because of this. I'll concede that cardio is good but for most people, walking, sprints, or rucking is adequate. Cardio is for healthy circulation and heart. Cardio should not be a tool for weight loss. Humans were meant to be active. 75-100 years ago, gyms weren't really needed because living life provided the necessary stimulus our bodies required. Your body doesn't give a **** if you throw hay bails feeding the cattle or you did power cleans as long as it's working. But today as life continues to get "easier" we get softer. I'll leave you with a quote from WAPO and a picture I put on another post. world class distance runner (aerobic) vs world class sprinter (anaerobic). Who would you rather follow?

"Researchers working with a sample of 20-to-34-year-olds at universities in North Carolina tracked their participants’ grip and pinch strength. They found that the average amount of grip force today’s men could apply was 98 pounds, compared to 117 pounds back in 1985."

Not true at all. Wrestling alone has saved me in a lot of street fights. If im against someone with no grappling skills i dont care how big he is he will be on the ground with me on top controlling him.

Decent amateur boxers can also **** up guys in the streets way bigger than them. Most people dont even know how to throw a straight punch ffs.
disagree to an extent. Once someone has the basics, or some experience, size becomes a factor.

I am 210 lb. I have very basic training but I doubt a 150lb guy could get me down. How?

I can walk around with them hanging off me. No move can beat that.
plus all I need to do is grab and drop my weight.
As for punching, little guys just can’t knock out bigger guys. I’ve been punched by 300lb tubs of lard and it hurts - a lot.
The weight you carry is really important - even if a lot of it is lard, it makes a massive impact on fighting.

My Contribution:

Street Fights: I have been jumped twice in my life. Both times I was out late and wasted. I could have prevented the second occurrence with a flight response.

I have been forcibly removed from a respectable night club by two bouncers at once for being too drunk and dancing like a fool. I escalated the situation in front of the club and am lucky I didn’t get my head kicked in (life lesson).

A good buddy from high school/early twenties was about 5’ 10 and maybe 140 pounds. His forearms were forged by a dedication to drumming and amateur boxing. Anyhow he was a nerdy looking musician, but he was crazy as hell if provoked. Literally would fight you to the death. I witnessed several fools get served up when they tried to mess with him.

His mentor was a successful drummer who once told me that “it’s just better to be stronger”

In response to the title of the thread. Getting ripped is definitely a plus, i disagree with the size though. At least where i am, theres a fine margin between good shape and too big. The leaner you are the better your face looks and the better your clothes will fit.

I am on the too big side at the moment, i am definitely not fat but i am stocky and wide as **** and i would give it up to be lean. I've also got a puffy moon face which is ****e so i could do with dropping weight untill i get some sort of jaw. It definately knocks your confidence when your not in shape, you just know you look dire. When your in shape, you can feel it and everyone around you notices is because 90% of the population are not in shape themselves.

it will fix almost everything ..
If a jacked/ripped guy is socially awkward, socially uncalibrated, doesn't have a clue how to handle women, he is still going to get rejected. It just may take a few days longer before he gets the "You're such a nice guy. Let's just be friends". A lot of guys who are not jacked/ripped but are not socially awkward, is calibrated, and understands how women function do pretty well for them selves. The majority of the population manages to have babies at some point, and the majority isn't jacked/ripped. What might solve 90% of the issues here is if guys forcus on women that are in their own class instead of focusing on women that they will never get then crying that they got rejected.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

Many females in USA have a delusional sense of what "league" they're in. Makes it difficult to communicate with them in any realistic way. Plus, relationships are boring.

I always feel like guys who get unnaturally big are compensating for something.

it’s common.

they don’t realise that a dude wanting to lay pipe in them doesn’t mean they’re in his league.

women only want to fvck guys they think are their league or higher. Men will fvck anything passable

therefore they think “this alpha railed me. I’m in the big leagues”

then they moan on about men’s lack of commitment, when it’s just their fault for misunderstanding the nature of both sexes

That doesn't negate what I said about the guys,...it just makes it more critical that the guy have a more correct sense of reality.

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.
