To loosely quote Chris Rock: They could make bullets cost $50,000 apiece. "I'm gonna shoot your ass...When I can afford it."
I'm from the Midwest, so growing up around firearms was fairly common. Given, though, that they were mostly rifles and it involved hunting little woodland creatures. My dad bought an AR-15, which is basically similar to a military issued M-16, minus the full-auto capability (though modifications could be made). That thing puts foot to ass.
I guess my only experience with pistolas was the magnum .45 he sold a few years ago. Only used it for shooting bottles/cans and whatnot, but it didn't take long to aquire a decent accuracy with the thing. I guess I don't know much about the price of bullets for it, however, as I had a friend with a dad who basically "made" his own bullets and hooked us up with a good price. But, as Ice said, it would make more sense to practice with a lower cost kind of ammunition, though I'd imagine there might be a noticable difference when one finally decided to break out the big guns.
