Great catch on Edger being totally inconsistent lol. Also Lationoman, you're totally right about Spitzer going after things related to prostitution ruthlessly. There's no way anyone can argue he wasn't being hypocritical.Latinoman said:Funny thing is that edger created a thread saying he would "pork" Spitzer's wife. And this is a 27 year old man. He "porks" Spitzer's wife...but NOT the 22-year-old hooker? Hahaha.
That just gives testament that he's a lawyer acting like..... a lawyer. Look, plenty of people have negative opinions of lawyers for these (and other) types of reasons, but lets not confuse the way one might go about doing their job with their own personal belief system.Latinoman said:They were not the only cases he was prosecuting. The point I'm trying to make is that he was not just enforcing the law. He was actually VERY VICIOUS...he went after people to DESTROY them. He did fight against big corporations and he was indeed a very efficient DA. But he was VICIOUS...he was ALWAYS in front of the cameras when prosecuting.
But when you VICIOUSLY enforce the law (going to television and preaching about it)...and then go out and break it. That makes you a hypocrite.
Smaller crime.... smaller damage done. Everything else in the analogy fits. Some people don't have $300 dollars to pay for a speeding ticket.Latinoman said:By the way...you don't see "traffic policement" in front of the cameras trying to DESTROY the lives of the people they stopped for traffic violation and making a HUGE deal out that.
That's the big difference.

Again, he was paid to enforce laws passed by others besides himself that he might or might not have agreed with. I'm sure those paying him expect him to do his job effectively - "ruin their lives" for instance? That type of thing just helps place emphasis on them being shown as being guilty - you know, the primary thing he was being paid to do????
If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.
Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.
This will quickly drive all women away from you.
And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.
As reasonable as that might sound to both you.... and I even, some people can never get enough money, and some people just like doing their job as well as possible.Latinoman said:The guy is worth HALF A BILLION dollars. He is not working to do a "job". He was working because of personal convictions.
Azanon, your the only person I've heard argue that Spitzer isn't a hypocrite. Maybe you're not that knowledge of this guy, what all he did, and prosecutors in general. He target certain people and "industries" and he and his government prosecutors went after them ruthlessly. You know, sometimes with the actions prosecutors take you can't really tell who's on the "good" side. If strongly condeming and prosecuting certain actions while you go and do the same thing is not hypocrisy, then there's no such thing as hypocrisy. Your arguments might fit in some cases, but they don't fit in this one.azanon said:That just gives testament that he's a lawyer acting like..... a lawyer. Well by that logic if he thought prostitution was such a big crime, then why did he himself engage in it? and your analogy doesn't fit the case here. It'd be more like Spitzer sought additional reckless driving charges against speeders as a policy, while he regular sped whenever he drove. Besides if you can't pay a $300 speeding fine usually they'll reduce the fine or offer community service.Smaller crime.... smaller damage done. Everything else in the analogy fits. Some people don't have $300 dollars to pay for a speeding ticket.
What you are failing to understand is he is/was a politician. Politicians have things called platforms-their stances and beliefs on certain issues. That is what gets people elected. People associate their beliefs with the politicians and expect that if they elect him, he or she will carry out those beliefs, both personally and politically. Otherwise any person could say they are going to eliminate taxes or that they are pro abortion for example and then once voted in do the exact opposite.azanon said:That just gives testament that he's a lawyer acting like..... a lawyer. OK by your reasoning, elective officials, police, prosecutors and judges can't ever be hypocrites no matter what. And I guess preachers and teachers can't be either because they're paid to do a job too. So just who can be a hypocrite and what is a hypocrite to you? You can only be a hypocrite as long as your not paid to be one or what?azanon said:As reasonable as that might sound to both you.... and I even, some people can never get enough money, and some people just like doing their job as well as possible.
Any statement he might have made about his personal convictions might have really been his ..... personal convictions or they might have just been lawyer talk, again, designed to increase the appearance of guilt of those he's prosecuting. That's what you do as a prosecutor. He's only certainly guilty of doing his job. Hypocracy? Opinion that I don't share.

For him to go so vigorously against those that are corrupt, IE prostitution, in his professional career and build his rep off of that, and then go and bang one, not only is he cheating on his wife and children, but those that elected him as well.
Hence, he is in fact...a hypocrite. And a big fat one at that.
He was paying for her to go away after the sex. That is the only thing he was getting for his money. Sex he could have had with anyone....for free.Rollo Tomassi said:I've said it before and I'll say it again, as a man you will ALWAYS pay for sex in some form or another. You can finance it (marriage), lease it (LTR), rent it (pros), buy direct (dating), or just buy the advertising for it (porn), but rest assured, you WILL pay. $15K for a hooker is nothing compared to the millions some men will risk with an affair. Spitzer wasn't paying for sex, he was paying for discretion.

I'm sorry, but she looked pretty pittiful standing next to her husband during the news conference. There really wasn't any need for her to be there. The same thing with McGreevey's wife when he came out of the closet; as with Vitter, Kilpatrick, Craig, Robinson, Condit and Clinton with their various indiscretions. It's kinda late to be there for support in my opinion. The funny thing is that this is going to happen more times than not with Joe Everyguy because they get into relationships with whomever's available instead of someone who they'd really want to be with.Stavrogin said:Imagine how it must feel to be Spitzer's wife. She was pretty cute. Talk about feeling rejected: Spitzer could've boned her every day for free but instead chose to spend $80,000 on "high class" prostitutes.
I stopped reading her books when she got into her really preachy period. I don't know about her personal life but I read her book "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" a few years ago and perhaps she learned a lot from past relationships. More women should read that book if they want their guy to happily stick around. It's basically the exact opposite of "The Rules" where instead of trapping a man into staying, she teaches women how to seduce a man into wanting to stay.Latinoman said:She is also a hypocrite. I cannot stand her. I used to listen to her and found something very odd about her moralistic behavior. So, I started to do research and found so much crap that made me stop listening to her...

I stopped listening to her show about 5 or so years ago. Maybe she has "matured".Francisco d'Anconia said:I stopped reading her books when she got into her really preachy period. It was almost that long ago when I started noticing the change. But see if you can find some excerpt from her book. You'd be pleasantly surprised about what she says about how women's treatment (or lack of) of men have made men turn to other things (or women) to fulfill their needs.Latinoman said:I stopped listening to her show about 5 or so years ago.
