Actually the OP or anyone else did not make a point of being touch starved and just said the vids were soothing. I took it up a notch and made it about being love-starved, but that strongly implies being touch starved as well. However, love starved in context means you dont have any personal connection (ie a lady checking up on you to see if you are okay, etc....) with anyone. I mean to say it does not have to be physical. If you lack even that type of connection the ASMRs are helpful.

Some of the tricks used in the videos, to get a viewer more enthralled include as follows:

1) Telling the viewer that they understand these videos have to be sincere and how they are putting their whole heart into it to make it real...otherwise it's not the same, or it could sound hollow and empty, (while not intending to say anything about their competitor ASMR videos, lol!)

2) Telling a viewer that they can telepathically communicate with them if they are too shy to talk to the video.

3) Telling a viewer that they understand that things can be so bad that they do not believe what they are saying about them, but they want to say it anyway because you deserve to hear it.

4) If you say anything negative about yourself then you are attacking them because what does it say about their tastes?


The list goes on and on.....however, the ability to empathise with the viewer, when delivered right, makes it seem quite real. It's really could be a case of improv acting from some talented individuals, and giving you the "first-person" experience.

It seems some of these ASMR content creators have a deep empahtetic insights into the lonely male pyche that is rather wierd when you look at it. If a guy was able to do this with a gal then you'd say they are running game.

I came up with a witty explanation to my mother out of the blue. Feel like totally calm, after just watching 7 minutes of this video.

I'm in a relaxed frame of mind to go to work (ie wanted to skip work today earlier).

I think she really did pluck out some negative energy and toss it out. This stuff is real. At first, when I played the video, I didn't think it wasn't going to work, because it's a video right? I'm like wow. If you are having a bad day you can google search an ASMR for that to get you back on the right track mentally.
