I turned on ESPN to see Midnight Lute absolutely blow past the competition on the final straight. Everyone else looked like they were movng backwards.

I ended up skipping Retama Park and opted for Youbet.com. I don't suggest it to anyone. Horrible customer service. I called and the lady was obviously in India or Mexico. No training at all. She forwarded me to the tech support line and he said "Oh yeah, I see what you mean. Hold on"....."Ok, it'll be fixed in a few minutes" 40 minutes later I still couldn't figure out how to bet a superfecta. I won't be betting on horses again unless Backbreaker tells us what to do but I won't be youbet again.
Although this hassle did save me 0.10 cents.

I made probably more money today than I have in 99% of all the betting days of my life, but it's still haunted by what could have been.
Saw some great racing, even tough I lost 10k on Tiago, I was jumping up and down for Curlin when he stormed down the stretch. Capped off by them having to put down George Washington. 2.5 million dollar yearling horse who right after this was going to stud. jsut shows how fast this game can turn on you.
anyway, started off with Smarty Deb. I planned on putting 30% of my bankroll on HEr and her alone, but that changed when she went from 30 to 1 to 9/2. I ended up putting 4k on her, and she ran respectably, she ran rank the entire race and was tired at the end. just didn't do it today. hats off to indian blessing
On to the next race. I liked War pass but didn't think he culd get the distance pressed. WRONG. Well not wrong I odn't think, I think the track had alot to do wit it. alot o horses that were supposed to be there weren't. Wicked Style, my pick, sure as hell wasn't. 8k Bet

Next Race, because of hte soft trac, and only the soft track, I ended up choosing Laulahood, as i posted last night. In the race, and this is what I saw, I saw just how bad the europeans were taking to the track. not AT all. they can't handle the turns... 2 of them had to be pulled up. I'll get to that later.. anyway, i was screaming like a bat out of hell when Lahudood came home and that wire couldn't get there fast enough. 8k bet
so now i' up, after having to deal with the IRS, 54k
In the sprint, I thought midnight lute was the best horse, but I couldn't take 20 to 1 on kelly's landing..well.. he didn't go off at 20 to 1 so I didn't make a bet, or not close to 20 to 1. And midnight lute won it. 3k well saved

Now, I made a post here last night that to take out kip deville and put in excellent Art. After seeing how bad the europeans took to thoose turns, combined with Excellent Art at the 12 post, I knew that was a waste of money, so I sat there and tried to find anything else, I couldn't so went BACK to kip Deville, but not much becuase I really didn't like him, 4k bet. Of course he wins.. and I feel bittersweet because something told me to put an exacta bet on excellent art in 2nd, but I didn't. oh well.
paid $20 bucks to win so now I"m up about 80k

The distaff. BAd post and all, I thought Hystericalady was a freakin lock, open the vault, throw all the money on her. I put about 9k on her..
So she comes down the stretch wtih the lead, and I'm literarly in dream land, she had it won.> I knew octave wasn't going to get in front of her, she was spinning, and she passed ginger punch I was jumping up and down.. then ginger punch found some grit and came back and beat her on the wire by liteaterarly....what.. a half a nose. I felt so sick. An Inquiry sign came up so I had a faint sign of hoope but no luck. I got beat.
so I'm up 73k
The Turf...because of the soft turf, I put 5k on Shamdinan. and if english channel wasn't in the race I would ahve stolen money.. 2nd place.
so that's 2 back to back 2nd places.. one that would have paid 21 dollars and the other that would have paid 48
and I had Curlin on my pick 6 ticket but I didn't have him to win, I had tiago, which I still think was a good bet and I'd do it agian if I had to.

I have no opinions that strong that a tote board can't change them. If I woke up tomorow and lawyer ron was 20 to 1, i'd be a lawyer ron fan.

Also, Hyestericalady won in the slop, the true slop, not an off track, a HORID track at churchill and won in hand going away, she is going to be fine

If you woud have just blindly bet 2 dollars on eac horse I put to win, you would have came out, i fyou started with 20 dollars, you wuold have MADE $11 bucks. Lahudood paid $25.20 win
EVEN i fyou didn't SEE that in time, if you uld have had kip deville, you would have done a little bit better than broken even.

I don't make bad bets. i don't take a Kelly's landing at 7 to 1 off a 20 to 1 morning line. at 20 to 1 there is value, at 7 to 1 there is not. but you are so busy being spiteful and criticting what goes on you aren't listenting

To Anyone who kept up with my bets, they should have made enough money to go out to night and buy a coupl eof drinks at the very least, assuming they actually made all the bets and didn't overload any one.
and considering I gave you Corinthian yesterday, and 2 of the horses I pikced ran 2nd place at double digit odds... do you really see how silly and immature you sound? I nailed the longest price of the day for crying out loud, in the rain that is standing hoof high, what more do you want? crackers and cheese? and I had a horse that was my "lock" loose literarly on a headbob.

Dude, I don't know what you are saying. I'm not mad I lost. I've lost and made much more before at the track. I'm happy you made the money you say you did. Besides I'm not in competition with you. I said that I made my living owning/training race horses, not betting them.
I put most of the money on Smarty Deb, hysterical lady, and Wicked style, the first two being your best bets....hence they took most of my money, especially hsyterical lady. Trust me, its not hard to lose when you do that. I placed 70% of my money on smarty and hsyterical alone. Smarty raced like a pig, granted she had some interference issues, but she would never have won even if they had raced around 5 more times. Hysterical lady raced well, probably should have won considering she passed the winner in the stretch, though she probably would have been taken down for interference anyway.

Well I didn't win anything. I was going to bet on race 6 Lahudood but the order I bet left with a 1.80 and I didn't have enough and wasn't going to increase my bankroll. if only I had put $8 on the bet I would came out pretty good. Or if I knew about switching back to Kip deville. I still haven't fully figured out how to place the bets really. If only I had kip deville and Lahudood I would've made few hundreds bucks

if you or anyone wants to learn what the hell they are doing, i'm here. As you can see.. it's possble to make some real money if you know what you are doing. It's not that different from te stock market if you thihnk abou tit.. the person with the most imformation and can decipher that information, wins.
After a while you learn to use your own judgement, for instance instead of just betting blindly, you could have looked at kelly's landing and clearly saw that wasn't 20 to 1 what you were getting
and alot of people miss the boat.. I didn't make ONE bad pick today. if I had to go back, expect for MAYBE, and I mean MABYE tiago, I would have made every pick again. Long Term wise, they will all put money in my pocket, and that's how you have to make bets. I don't get down on myself when I loose a bet because i know if I make it 100 times, will I come out with a profit or not is the only question I need to ask.

with that said, the triple crown IMHO is the worst time TO bet. Iusually don't even bother with stakes races, because take the classic for instance, horses don't always run their best going into big races, so you can't get a good judge of their true ability.
where as in a claiming race or an allowence race, you are going tog et 100x every time out, I know what you can do and it's a matter of odds then.
