Here are my picks for Churchill Downs today (Nov 3) if anyone is interested. I've only gotten up to race six with my handicapping, so I'll have to rush the rest of it at the track.

Race 1: 1m Maiden Claiming, 24k

(7) Run The Other Way
(9) Beautiful You
(8) Star Player

Race 2: 6f Claiming, 22k

(2) Trixie Bee Mine
(5) Amsonia
(10) Orphan's Dream

Race 3: 7f Claiming, 17k

(9) Smart Caller
(6) Nicki's Wish
(4) Triple Kiss

Race 4: 1m (Turf) Maiden SW, 48k

(3) Matinee Queen
(4) Awesome Affair
(7) Go Swiftly

Race 5: 6.5f Starter Allowance, 30k

(2) Word Gets Around
(4) Wild Logic
(5) My Dixie Laine

Race 6: 6f Claiming, 22k

(11) Thundering Jill
(5) Dena's Summer
(6) Thanks for the Ride

It's a pretty ****ty card today with ****ty horses and huge fields, and none of these horses are getting good nods on the morning line. But I'll be putting my money on a pick three with a long shot in there somewhere, and hopefully will walk away with a profit.

Shame Backbreaker left. I had a bunch of questions for him.

Suicide, any suggestions on tracks to focus on as a newbie? Are any harder than others?

Did awful today. It happens sometimes. Churchill was so speed biased that I actually said "**** it" and switched to Santa Anita about halfway through the day. I did a bit better there, hitting a few exactas, a tri, and a $10 bet on a 50-1 longshot.

Some tracks have a bias (Churchill is one, it tends to favor speed and the inside posts) that can make them hard to pick. I have good luck at Santa Anita, Belmont and Saratoga (Saratoga is my all time favorite track). I also like Monmouth Park in NJ. But bias is variable and changes continually, so it can be hard to nail down sometime.

There aren't any certain tracks I'd suggest as a beginner, although it can be easier betting one of the more prestigious tracks (Saratoga, Santa Anita, Del Mar, Belmont) because the higher quality of competition can make the horses easier to pick.
