That's a lot of money to waste on fake hair...especially when a shaved head with a goatee is so much more attractive anyhow.

Women are fine with a shaved head. Spending the money on something else would serve you so much better.

I think you usually give good advice here, but with all due respect, I don't think you can speak for "women" in general on this one here.

I don't see any of the females I know who won't prefer a guy with "great" hair over someone who goes for the shaved head, anything else being equal. Maybe it has something to do with age, most of them are in their early 20s, 22-24, none of them is above 29. Maybe as people get older, being bald or "shaved head" is much better accepted.

Anyway congratulations to STR8UP.

You're wrong. Ask any female from 15 to 50 who watches American Idol who is hotter, Chris Daughtry or Ace Young....and I bet the majority of them will say Chris Daughtry...who shaves his head smooth as a baby's bottom and has a neat goatee and mustache. He is very sexy. Ace has lots of hair and a cute face...but women like Chris way better. My daughter is 20 and she agrees with me on this one. Don't buy fake damn hair...shaved heads with thin, neat facial hair is sexay as hell.

I just shaved my head again for the umpteenth time. The ladies love it, you can't deny that. But you can't have a bumpy head.

On the other hand though, I can understand him wanting to try something different. I mean, he did say that he's had a shaved head for what? Eight years or something?

Trying something different by growing out your own hair is one thing...but paying well over $100 a month on hairpieces you glue or tape to your head for that change? I just think it's a waste of money...especially if you are doing it to try to be more attractive to women because women like shaved heads a lot. It also screams "I'm insecure about myself because I'm losing my hair". In the long run, I just don't think it's a wise choice. I don't care how good the glue or tape is or how real it looks...I can picture it now...being in the middle of rough sex, all sweaty and grabbing the guy's head and his hair coming off in her hand. Just stick with what is natural...really.

Who said I was paying over $100 per month?

Even if I was, my mortgage payment is about 45 times that much....what's the big deal?

If you would have read the whole post instead of just replying to the title you would see that each piece costs about $150 and needs to be replaced every 2-6 months. You really should be more open minded, or at least read the post before you comment.

I just think it's a waste of money...especially if you are doing it to try to be more attractive to women because women like shaved heads a lot.
I specifically stated that I am not doing this to attract women. I am doing it for myself.

It also screams "I'm insecure about myself because I'm losing my hair".
That's the biggest crock of B.S. I've ever heard.

Says who? You?

I'm sure people have plenty to say about me when I'm not around, but I doubt that "insecure" is a term that pops of very often.

In the long run, I just don't think it's a wise choice.
In what way is it not a wise choice?

I don't care how good the glue or tape is or how real it looks...I can picture it now...being in the middle of rough sex, all sweaty and grabbing the guy's head and his hair coming off in her hand.
It doesn't work that way sweetie. People ride roller coasters and practice martial arts while wearing hairpieces.

This confirms that the only reason you are so prejudice against wearing hair is because you have no idea what it's all about. You really should open your mind to new things.....you can miss out on a lot if you choose to live your life this way.

Just stick with what is natural...really.

So if tomorrow YOU happened to discover that you have alopecia (yes, women can lose their hair too) and a hairpiece was your only natural looking and viable option, would you spend a few hundred bucks per year or just live with it? That's what I thought.

I was worried about how my close friends would react when they found out what I had done (you can't rely on everyone to be open to these kinds of things), but so far it has been nothing but positive. Any kind of negativity that was expressed BEFORE I took the plunge quickly turned into a big thumbs up as soon as they saw the finished product.

I was REALLY concerned about how the girl who I had cut my hair would react, since I hang out with her pretty much weekly and she is the one who hooks me up with all of her friends. She had the same misconceptions that everyone else has but once I showed her how real it looks and feels and how strong the adhesives are she thought it was the coolest thing she had ever seen. Good to know I still have the hookup :)

Oh yea, and if you want to look at it from a money angle, it's a proven fact that attractive people make more money than unattractive people.

You might personally like bald guys, but at least subconsciously most people (male and female) are wired to think that someone with a full head of hair is most attractive. That's just the way it is.

No, I wouldn't spend money on a hairpiece. I would try to get it to grow again and if that didn't work I'd get transplants if anything. I would not glue or tape anything to my head.

The point I'm trying to make here is that you're wasting money on something you think will make your life better in some way. It's not going to make your life better. You should have taken the money you'll spend on these hairpieces, the glue and tape and styling them and gone on a cruise or fishing/camping trip to Alaska or something.

Um...two of the richest men are Donald Trump and Bill Gates and both of them are butt freaking ugly.

How much hair a person has doesn't have anything to do with how attractive they are. Their facial features is what determines how attractive they are or aren't. As long as a balding guy doesn't try to do the "swoop" to cover where he's balding his lack of hair doesn't make him less attractive.

I have heard about the cloning. Certainly something to look into in the future. I don't have enough donor hair for a transplant with today's technology.

Wyld - why are you so passionate about the way the man spends his money or adorns himself???

Hey, I say people should pluck it, tuck it, suck it, (or in his case) glue it, all they want! Everyone should have the freedom to reach for a higher quality of life and define that quality any way they choose.

The point I'm trying to make here is that you're wasting money on something you think will make your life better in some way. It's not going to make your life better. -Wyldfire
bullsh*t! Who are you to judge the body investments of others! I pay a pretty high membership to a gym to keep my as$ high and tight - I (nor my hubby) feels this is a waste. I pay $$ to get waxes - again, money well spent to keep the playground clear! I burn money - well, I buy candles to burn while making love to my man in the bed or bath - waste??? I think not.

What another does to enhance or embellish their life goes so much further then just the item or task itself.

Your judgment of others and representation of womankind is getting pretty old and rather warped.

Alright people....for the last freakin time.....IT WON'T FALL OFF YOUR HEAD AND YOU CAN'T PULL IT OFF EITHER! It takes about 10 minutes to get it off, and that's with drowning the adhesive in 99% alcohol, which is STRONG sh!t.

And to debunk some other myths-

No, it doesn't look like a pile of fur placed on top of your head. It is handmade with real human hairs that are individually tied into a fine lace that COMPLETELY disappears against your skin once it is attached. When it is properly attached, you can't see it even with your eyes a few inches away from the lace, and you can't feel it either.

You choose your density to match your current hair thickness and age level. I ordered 65%, which basically means that the piece is made to mimic the thickness of a 34 year old's typical level of thickness.

The color is custom matched to your own. I chose the appropriate color from a color ring and it matches well.

no need to get pissy, we just find it little funny......the image we have going through our head is the HOLYWOOD TYPE SCENE, where a short fat man is standing on the street with one side of his piece flopping around in the wind.....
Thanx for clearing things up

Because it's okay for HER or any other woman to spend thousands of dollars on breast implants, makeup, facelifts, and whatnot, but god forbid a man try to improve his appearance with....OMG....a TOUPEE!

Seriously, Wyld is just a victim of the limitations of her own mind. I'm glad that there are some other women like you out there who see it for what it is and not what's swilring around in the back of their head from watching too many Seinfeld episodes.

Hey, I say people should pluck it, tuck it, suck it, (or in his case) glue it, all they want! Everyone should have the freedom to reach for a higher quality of life and define that quality any way they choose.
EXACTLY!

I don't PREFER breast implants, I would much rather have a chick that's all natural, but I'm not that small minded that I would judge someone based upon their decision to have it done. To each their own.

And that's precisely why a hairpiece gets such a bad rap.

If the general public knew what it was really about they wouldn't be so judgemental like Wyldfire.

I would be willing to bet a lot of money that if transplants were not an option (they aren't for me) you would be DESPERATELY seeking a solution and would be a little more open to gluing or taping something to your head. Hairloss would DEVASTATE you. I don't buy it for one minute.

The point I'm trying to make here is that you're wasting money on something you think will make your life better in some way. It's not going to make your life better. It will improve my life. I will feel better about my new look. That's all that matters.

And I already take several vacations every year. Buying a couple of hundred bucks worth of hair isn't going to interfere with my lifestyle, I can assure you of that.

Nowhere did I judge him...I'm telling him it's unnecessary and he is wasting money on something he does NOT need to do. I'm saying there are many more things he COULD spend that money on that WOULD enrich his life more and make for some real happy times.

This discussion isn't about how much or your husband's hard earned money you spend. This thread is about someone spending an awful lot of money on something that they (at least subconsciously) think is going to make them more successful in life. A hairpiece is not going to make any significan't difference in his life. He doesn't need the hairpiece...THAT is the point I'm making.
