Got my first hairpiece and had it cut in the other day.

When I posted about this a couple of months ago the idea was met with some pretty harsh criticism. Now that I have it on, all I can say is, "Why didn't I do this years ago!?"

A few of my friends knew I was doing this. Most of them I can count on to give me an honest opinion, and although I am still working out a couple of bugs, the response has been 100% positive.

Parents- my mom's jaw hit the floor. She thought I got transplants.

Stylist- (The chick that sets me up with all of her friends) "Wow, this is the coolest thing in the world! I can't believe this isn't your real hair. I can't even tell where the piece ends and your hair begins when I am cutting it!" When asked if I should just take it off and go back to shaving my head, she said, "WHAT???? ARE YOU CRAZY????"

Friends- Some of my friends who have known me for years thought I got transplants. Some thought I just grew out my hair.

Business acquaintances- So far they have either not noticed or noticed and thought I grew my hair out. One chick who likes me said "Hey, you look different! Did you get a new haircut or something? It looks great!" Keep in mind, my head has been totally SHAVED for 8 years, up until a couple of days ago.

Anyone with thinning hair who wants to do something about it, let me know and I will give you all the info you need to see if this is something that might work for you.

Well, that's cool.

You know that a couple companies are working on a new hair cloning technology that should be available in a few years (and since it's not a drug doesn't have to go through FDA testing) that will be much more effective than the best of today's hair transplants, basically regrowing new hair, and significantly cheaper? You can read about it here.

My hairline has receded a bit and is thinning out a bit in the front, and while it's not really a problem yet, I'm considering taking Propecia to keep it from getting any worse. But this news has me holding off on that.

Medical grade glues and/or tapes.

I am still experimenting to find which ones work best for me. Depends upon body chemistry. Most people leave them on for 3-5 days at a time, some remove nightly depending upon base material used. My unit is made of lace (most realistic and undetectable base material for most people) instead of the thin poly material, so it wouldn't be practical to remove every night.

Sleeping in it isn't a problem, you can swim with it (even scuba dive), ride roller coasters, pretty much treat it just like the hair that's attached to your head.

I have heard about the cloning. Certainly something to look into in the future. I don't have enough donor hair for a transplant with today's technology.

I took Propecia (buy Proscar from Mexico and split it into 5 pieces...same drug and MUCH cheaper) for awhile and it definitely helped regrow some of my hair, but not enough. I stopped the drug and shaved it all off. Now I'm ready for a change. Looks like the piece is gonna work out just fine.

So are you going to keep it a secret, or are you going to be really open about it? Like if I get into a serious relationship, you're not going to wait till the honeymoon to tell her you wear a piece, right? :)

Hey STR8UP,

It’s funny that you posted about your hairpiece, because I was just about to message you and ask. So, how did you end up managing to keep the true state of your head a secret? Or what?

(By the way, I think it’s been too long since the last group meet-up. I think we’d all want to see your hair style.)

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

It's not really a big deal to me if people know. I'm not going to wear a shirt that says, "Hey! I wear a piece!", but if someone knows or finds out I'm not going to make a big deal of it.

My business partners know, one of my partner's parents know, MY parents know, a couple of my good friends know, one of my friend's g/f knows (she cut it for me) and.....I think that's it.

Today I met with my mortgage broker. Everyone in his office knows me and they pretty much thought I just grew my hair out. I'm not going to tell them any different!

As for a relationship, I don't plan on being in one of those for a LOOOONG time. When I do eventually get into a long term relationship I will tell her within a reasonable period of time. Short term partners don't need to know.

It is already 99.9% undetectable to the untrained eye, and within a week or two I should have it attached to where you can't feel it either.

Am I missing something? Why do you have a stylist if you've been shaved for 8 years?

My cover sort of got blown halfway through (on Valentines Day, no less) by one of the chicks my biz. partner and I went out for a drink with. My biz. partner said she was flirting in her own way, but she annoyed the hell out of me when she pulled off my hat and poured a shot of Jager in my beer.

The one chick I was messing with for awhile TRIED to pull it off one night, but I stopped her. Then I had to listen to her ask me "Do you always wear a hat?" every single weekend cause she was always too drunk to remember she asked me the same thing last week. Needless to say I'm not calling her anymore.

So basically the one chick is always too drunk to remember and didn't see my head in the light anyway, and the other one I don't hang with, so it doesn't matter.

As far as everyone else is concerned most of my friends and family who have known me for a long time realize I had something done (I've been going bald pretty much since I was in high school). So far everyone who has only known me with a shaved head just thought I grew my hair out. The one chick I saw today has seen me with my head shaved at least half a dozen times- at a party, at a club, in her office...and she thought I just got a new haircut!!!! Too funny.

Anyways......I think you will be VERY interested in this product. I got started for about $500 with two hairpieces, all the glues and everything. That should keep me going for 4-8 months. After that, each piece costs about $150 and lasts anywhere from 2-6 months or more. Pretty cheap for a cool new look, if you don't mond a little maintenance.

Seriously, email me and we'll meet up for lunch or a drink or something. If you want to do it (so far I would highly recommend it!) I can even get my girl to cut it for you so you don't have to worry about that part of it which can be a hassle.

Couldn't be better than having me as a guinea pig, huh?

She's my buddy's girl, the one who tries to hook me up with all of her lesbian friends. She also happens to be a stylist.

I was hesitant to bring her in on the secret, but it turns out that she was cool about it just like I thought she would be, so I made a good call having her do it.

Seriously STR8UP, do you think you need the hairpiece?

Please note that this is in no way a suggestive question, Im really interested in your answer becaus from what you have posted before you seem to have been very succesful in every way even without the hairpiece.

imagine yourself without hair, imagine yourself going bald, then post that again. I don't think most guys realize how awful it is to go bald since most don't think it will ever happen to them.

No Im actually pretty aware of it. It hasnt happend to me, but when I start seeing it in my peers its I knew it could happen to me.

I imagine myself going bald and I see that getting a hairpiece will not make my hair grow back, like I said the Ive always had the impression that the original poster was a succesful, happy guy, so my question to him was: Is it neccesary for your happyness?

I dont see anything wrong with that.

Necessary? Of course not. I don't need it, I want it. Big difference.

I'm not doing this out of insecurity.

Yes, things are going well. I'm just looking for a change. A few hundred bucks is a small price to pay to have such a big impact on my appearance. I couldn't update my wardrobe for $500.

When people question my decision I get the feeling that most of the time it is because when they think of a hairpiece they assume it's like you see in the movies. Well, it IS like you see in the movies; the kind where Sean Connery or Bruce Willis appears to have magically grown hair just for a movie part, NOT the Three Stooges or Seinfeld kind where the character gets busted wearing roadkill on his head because it accidentally fell off.

You say, "Getting a hairpiece will not make my hair grow back".

So what? What is hair anyways? Since most of us can wear a hat when it gets cold, hair is nothing more than a decoration. What's the difference between hair growing out of your scalp and hair glued to your scalp if they both look AND feel the same?

If you saw my before and after pics I think you might have a different opinion.

Then post em up like i said before, son.

What are you afraid of anyway? Not trying to call you out but your on this "i wear a hair piece and im proud", tip, which is cool.. so just post up a pic...u can blur out ur face bro just give us an idea of what the real deal is.

My dad is very bald...i cant really tell if im going to lose hair or not because both of my grandfathers had a full head of hair at their death so who knows.

If i do bald i guess i can always shave it off because i look good with a shaved head.

So like i said bro, post it up...a pic speaks a thousand words!

Sorry, not gonna happen.

I'll meet up with some of the guys on here again eventually and let them post a review.
