The likelihood of say a middle class, educated black woman(who are the only ones I'd be talking to anyway) having HIV is damn slim. Now if this flies over your thick skull, I don't know WTF tell you. Number one, the VAST majority(85%) of people with herpes simplex 2 are asymptomatic. They may have the virus, but it never results in any form of out break. The majority of the population has herpes(yes that includes whites), either type 1 or type 2. Most people don't even know it because herpes is only symptomatic for a minority of the population. You may even have HSV-2 yourself and not know it!

Ok, so the kid screwed up. But even if the ho was HIV+, his chance of getting it is almost zero. A male who has no STDs (i.e., no herpes or other lesions) has a very difficult (biologically difficult) time getting HIV from an infected female through vaginal sex (so long as she is not on the rag). .5% / 2 = .25% (percentage of heterosexuals infected with AIDS). That figure is for the general population (and most Americans are white). Since black women are 21 times more likely to have AIDS: 21 x .25 = 5.25% (the prevalence of AIDS among black heterosexual women). Therefore, when you have sex with a black woman, there's a roughly 1 in 20 chance that she has AIDS.

Now it's true that the risk of catching AIDS from one instance of vaginal intercourse with a woman is not that great: maybe 1 in 100 or even 1 in 200. So your chances of catching AIDS from one sexual encounter with a black woman are not that great. However, there are hundreds of different STDs out there, and many of them have much greater prevalence than AIDS (syphilis, chlamydia, etc.) So your combined risk of catching something as a consequence of even one instance of unprotected sex is fairly high - and exponentially more so if you happen to be having sex with a black woman or man, because blacks are far more likely to have STDs than whites.

I didn't read the observational study that you referenced but I would conjecture that statistic is based on the entire population of U.S. women. Although Black Americans represent only 12% of the U.S. population (U.S. Census Bureau, 2006 Population Estimates), they account for half of AIDS cases diagnosed in 2006. Therefore, it appears if you limit the population to only black women, then the percentage risk of contracting HIV from a black female would be greater than 0.04% per act. At the very least there is a higher probability that you are taking your chances with someone that could give you HIV or an STD.

The real point is that it is better to be safe and wear a condom. Never trust a woman regardless of race especially on a one night stand.
