With college sports, it makes sense to root for the team if you go to the school itself or if you are an alumni linking up with old friends here and there. There are degrees and levels to this. If you are a casual that follows the sport for their team, then okay.
I have never understood people to be fans of college sports programs without ever attending that school. It happens though.

I have noticed that the most intense sports fans I have seen in my life were almost always losers. The guys I knew from my days at work that watch Sportscenter all day and gossip about sports are almost always normie losers with average marriages and average lives. In fact, I would say that religiously following sports and caring what Stephen A. Smith or Skip Bayless have to say is probably the one way to throw in the towel on life and accept mediocrity for the rest of your days.

I have never met a serious sports fan that was winning with women and with life in all of my years of following sports.
Most dedicated sports fans are losers. That's why I refuse to watch sports for the most part. I don't want that association.

When you say normie losers with average marriages and average lives, that's a best case scenario.

You mention Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. Those type of debate shows started to pop up when I was in college with "Around the Horn" and "Pardon the Interruption". I remember seeing those when I was in college 2001-2005. Terrestrial sports radio is a part of this and there are podcasts/YouTube channels that have even taken these TV/radio debate shows to a new level.

I cannot stand it either because when you work in the corporate world, you are surrounded by these loser type of normies with failing marriages, receding hairlines, and fattening cheeks. Then these guys get their prowess in life out of debating what some athlete is doing as opposed to doing anything worthwhile themselves. These are the same guys who would attack a user on here for getting laid in their 30s with attractive women.
Agree. Some of these guys are the guys who golf on the weekends or are normie, often goofy looking sales guys trying to close business on golf courses.

Loud and incel looking white dudes.

There is a distinct look and vibe to them that makes them uniquely more irritating and annoying than the typical incel. They are almost always this cranky, argumentative, and bitter guy that latches on to sports. It is the only thing they live for and it gets worse in the south as @Bible_Belt talks about as these are your former burned out frat bros who latch on to their old football teams despite never having played the sport themselves. I cannot describe them in a greater detail but you know one when you see and meet one, always unpleasant to be around.
Incel populations have been growing since the early 2000s, around the time that ESPN started "Around the Horn" and "Pardon the Interruption" got big and sports radio had been in a growth phase. This is a classic "correlation is not causation" situation but it's a valid point to say there's a relationship between increased sports fandom and incel/borderline incel behavior.

Porn and video games have also grown.

I would argue that porn is more relevant to incels than sports fandom. I would say that both porn and sports fandom are related to incel and borderline incel behavior.

If you look at behaviors of incels and borderline incels, you're likely to see men who are into some combination of porn, video games, and spectator sports.

Incels have changed as the populations of incels/borderline incels have grown. Not every incel is bad looking or socially inept. The population of incels now are too large for that.

Burned out former high school athletes that never made it.

The guy who played on the high school football team and was even a back up on a good one. The one who never got recruited to play for a college. The one who could not make it in the sport himself. That was their glory days and now they latch on to them in whatever way they can. They will obsess over sports and try to come off as know it alls about the pro sport itself despite never having come close to making it themselves. Always the worst dudes to deal with.
This is true. These guys are slightly above the incels but often have mediocre at best lives. Depending on age, these are either married guys or guys with long term girlfriends that they may eventually marry.

These men have lives that get more and more mediocre in their 30s and 40s. A guy in his 20s with a long time girlfriend who was an ex high school athlete isn't too bad, but these guys often fall into the marriage trap. Some of the guys are already betas in their 20s pre-marriage and become more beta after marriage. Sometimes there are Lesser Alphas in this group (if they were good high school athletes that didn't play college) who do get married and slide into more beta behaviors. Either way, these men become more beta as they age and may also see diminishing sex lives if they stay in LTRs/marriages, and possibly get more into sports and porn as their sex lives go downhill.

If you don't engage communally in sports, you are outside the tribe. Being disconnect from and outside the tribe is most definitely not alpha, because alpha is a leadership position.
It's possible to do individual sports and be a sigma male that gets laid.

Some sports are easy to do alone and it's a bit refreshing to do them alone. Going for a bicycle ride and swimming laps require no coordination with anyone else. Lifting weights is typically done alone too.

Team sports as an adult require co-ed sports league participation. A lot of guys do co-ed sports leagues to try to get their penises wet and often fail at it. I'd say a large percentage of men have bad experiences in co-ed sports leagues because they aren't getting laid from it. Many women might have poor experiences in co-ed sports leagues due to fielding approaches from horny and thirsty men. Some women have poor experiences playing the sport itself (see article below). This article might also explain a part of why co-ed sports leagues might not be good for pickup. I've talked about common male results from co-ed sports league pickup before.

Team sports are the modern manifestation of tribal humanity, replacing war. I would view someone unable to collectively identify with their tribe to be disconnected a defective to some degree. Not that everyone needs to obsess over sports, but some people dislike it irrationally.
There are also numerous sports that are not team sports that draw large followings such as auto racing, golf, and tennis. Some other individual sports like swimming and track & field get more popular during the Summer Olympics. I know football was the main start of this discussion, but feel it has expanded into other sports. It's possible to follow an individual sport and not follow at least one team sport, though that's kind of rare.

Turn it like you want, LARaider has a point. I do agree 'alone sports' are good, too, but they don't create a tribe.
I've been in an acting group and that was like a tribe for girls and feminine men.
I always assumed team sports to be the male counter part to that, but as a kid, I only got to know individual sports.
That's definitely a deficit.

Yup. I used alpha with the full recognition that sigma exists. Alpha means leader, sigma means lone wolf.

I like both individual and team sports. I also like intellectual pursuits. Team sports has opened doors and allowed me to lead. Rarely if ever the other two.
What people forget about Sigma males is that Alphas highly approve of them, and a Sigma male can just as easily substitute as an Alpha male if needed so. Most guys on here crying Sigma males are actually omega males.

Omega males are the worst of the worst. Those are the obese guys, the neckbeards, and socially maladaptive guys like Eliot Rodger. These are incels.

Sigmas are a thing and much different than omegas. Sigmas usually have superior social skills and looks to omegas. Sigmas are getting laid and are not incel.

The key word is "substitute", as in the implication of the impermanent. Sigmas generally dislike the rigid social hierarchy that "leader" alphas do, so imo there is an element of distrust.

This is the type that inspired this topic. I drove home after an early morning workout just to almost hit a drunk fat obese bills fan that tried to test his Jay walking abilities. My area gets so annoying when the chiefs or bills play because their idiotic fans come to the bars near my apartment.

One of the most deplorable/Incel guys I know is a die hard Eagles fan. This guy can’t cook a meal, talk to women, his mom washes his clothes/meal preps for him, his aunt bought him a house, just an overall NEET male. However, this dude could tell you the 3rd string kicker in on the Eagles in a heartbeat and argue over you to the most particular statistic about football. He is literally one of the most saddest/depressed human beings I have ever met and the Eagles are a decent program.
Looks like you know a real life version of Silver Linings Playbook

I wouldn't necessarily take Bills fans as representative. That's not an attractive-person part of the country and Buffalo is a small market with nothing else to do.

Most wide receivers and people who get paid to hit things for a living are never going to be role models.

Your typical NFL QB, however, most often *will* make an excellent role model.

Most of the plantations were essentially corporations owned by dudes that lived far away. This image of some colonel sanders looking guy drinking mint juleps on a porch watching slaves pick cotton is purely Hollywood romanticism. I grew around the home of a top 5 slave owner and he owned like 6 plantations in Louisiana but lived in Nashville.
I have a few ancestors that owned plantations, and they lived in the manor house, just like for the movie "Gone With The Wind".

I watch some football mainly as entertainment if I happen to be home at the time. I've never really been the guy with jerseys and I don't really know who all the players are and all their stats and history. ...and I really don't care. I'm a busy guy with my own pursuits.

I think it's a bit sad if your life revolves around someone else's performance or a teams performance. And really it's not "your team" your just a grown fan boy.

They might win the coin toss.

May as well familiarize yourself with all-pro safety Talanoa Hufanga now, he's about to go all tribal on y'all.

Its embarrassing to see these video's with black women keep popping up. I wonder why this happens in restaurants and airports so much.

Also makes me wonder how often this happened before mobile phones and cameras were a thing.
