@soulforge forget endurance training, that is for losers that want to go from the skinny fat look to the pencil necked geek look. Do sprints and for your lifting do metabolic resistance training. The best results I have ever had came from doing these two things.

Only if you do marathon type training. But otherwise, not really. Just do sprints for cardio, bro. It’s still much more anabolic in that it raises your test levels and works your cardiovasular system. Only if you’re a meathead will it really have an impact. But otherwise, nah you’re good.
I used to do uphill sprints outdoors quite often, and it was brilliant for reducing stubborn belly fat.

However some months back I injured my knee during leg press, and the knee is 90% recovered.

I don't want to overload it with the impact of sprinting.

This is why I am running at a medium to low pace instead.

Ignorant as fvck. Olympic sprinters do significant aerobic endurance work. They are also known steroid abusers. I wouldn't expect you to know that 100 meter, 200 meter, and 400 meter sprints are 80/20, 70/30, and 60/40 percent anerobic vs. aerobic energy contribution. Just another broscience lad running off at the mouth with no clue what he or she is talking about. It is impossible to run even a 100 meter sprint all-out, thus sprint athletes focus more on aerobic conditioning rather than increasing physical power. Have you ever even done a track workout? Are you familiar with the term speed endurance?

You're good. Medium to low pace running is a good compliment to weight training. To do sprints, you'd have to lay off heavy leg exercises altogether. It's one or the other for natural athletes. Disregard if you plan on taking steroids.

I personally know of a few men who died during marathons or during intermittent sprints whilst jogging.

Some died whilst playing badminton.

And all died because of heart failure.

Think of the heart as a water pump that's being continously pumping for 40 odd years, nonstop.

And then think of the strain of sprinting around that puts in that 40 year old pump.

That's why I said, know ur age and then know ur limits, from there adjust wisely to get the same desired results.

The methodology of training must suit the age.

Honestly, it sounds like what you are doing is ok. I feel like lifting, some sort of sprinting or interval type work and maybe going for a long hike once per week would be solid, it'd be difficult to get burnt out from something like that. I can't stand just running on a treadmill for any long period of time, but something like going for a hike and getting away from things has other benefits outside of those related to fitness.

Another one to look into is yoga, mostly for mobility.

What I've noticed even just this weekend is my HIIT has shaped my body rather strangely now, though I'm not going for shape but for function, but.. My legs have gotten bigger, yet my waist and thereabouts smaller, but my arms and chest and upper body is still bigger/growing some. It's the gut section that looks really weird on me, that would also look weird to a woman who will inevitably see me naked over the course of 2020 (no, I'm not a flasher). I'm gonna keep doin what I'm doin, but if I don't develop a six pack or close to it, I think that I will continue to look 'odd' or warped bodily-wise. So starting from my toes and scanning upward it's muscular to skinny to muscular. Not liking it but I will continue on until I can get into a $6 a day gym near me. If I was younger, I may not be having this unshapely problem. I don't have the V, because the bottom of the V is not muscular so it doesn't count as attractive to the female eye. With clothes, yes.

Those are not endurance workouts. They are mid distance high output training legs.

Endurance would be a marathon, 100 mile bike ride, Ironman contest etc.

A 440 or an 880 are done at 80% output or there about.

False and false. Baseline distance running is required for sprinters. “Speed work” consists of overdistance “sprints” done at 60-70% of race speed (80% output Is severe overtraining that yields high injury risk).

Ironically, long distance runners and marathoners do not train using overdistance work.

As you or someone else has pointed out, it is impossible or near so, to sprint full speed with 100% effort to the 100 yard/meter finish line. The last 10 to 15 yards suffer the depletion of accessible ATP energy and Phosphocreatine. Basically 5-10 seconds. After that you access energy known as anerobic glycolysis.

These mid intervals distances at 80% effort or better, train your body to extend ATP and Phosphocreatine stored in the body. You are getting the body to store more. this is required to extend to the finish line under full power and effort.

These are NOT endurance runs. They are a training tool for getting the body to extend across the finish line. It is anaerobic, not aerobic. No matter how much or how fast you can bring oxygen into your lungs.

Events? This isn’t about events. This is training.

Let’s break down why sprints will burn fat off your body and still maintain all your muscle and even build muscle. It is anaerobic.

It especially falls under the flight or fight principle. Your body, DNA encoding, knows what to do. Full effort sprints are very unique. Let’s say you are running from an extreme danger. You sprint away. Your body will shed useless weight and build muscles to facilitate what it believes to be your environment. You have a crap load of extreme dangers in your environment. The slowest man gets eaten.

I can go without gym for 3 weeks to a month and not notice any difference if I keep to my daily diet.

Carb intake has to be low, I take lots of pork with fats and lots of vegetables.

But once a week I splurge on ice-cream and what's not.

Oh, since I drink regularly, taking beer is not a good idea, I've noticed I put on some fats around the stomach while in my mid 30's and have switched to liquor since then. So if u r a regular in some establishment on a weekly basis then it might do you some good to switch.
Good system. You will stay young for a long time and your quality of life will maintain.

That’s not what i said hammerhead. I said science says that sugar burners have to break down protein to fuel endurance runs because they don’t go to fat burning for fuel.

Then I said fat burners will go to fat to burn and not breakdown protein.
