20 years is a good long run for a relationship, for sure. But 20 years is also a long time to build your empire, invest, and get ready for retirement. It would be a shame to get your finances to the place you want to get them, only to have to divide it up because of a costly divorce. You may find yourself having to rebuild, right when you don't want to.20 years of a successful marriage sounds like a sweet deal to me, 20 years is a really long time.
Someone mentioned a prenup, and those can help, but they are not always honored. It's all in the hands of a judge. It doesn't matter what you think, or what the prenup says, it's what the judge thinks that counts.
