Guys, let me translate that for you : You've put forward some good arguments which I can't counter, so I'm giving up. Because although I believe in positive affirmative action for women, I'm not willing to fight the cause through debate. What amazes me is these women seek equality, a non judgemental appreciation of them based not on their sex, yet they act to achieve it in an iniquitous way. They are allowed to study the oppression of women and their needs and entitlements, but we aren't allowed to study the oppression of men's needs. They are allowed to spout hatred for male behaviour, and celebration of women's yet we aren't allowed to do the same in reverse. They propose equality but are comparing a hammer to a flower - inasmuch that women and men have massively different strengths and weaknesses.

I'm an honors Psychology student at an Ivy League speaking on behalf of men. Your post itself is misandrist and sexist. And although I agree with some points you made, I will gladly refute some that are just plain biased.

By the way, did you know that that "manly" generation basically erased all of the previous gains of the flappers and womens' suffragettes, which is why we went backwards in equality in the 1940s and 1950s and 1960s and not forward? Yeah, I didn't think so.

This is a psychological technique called dehumanizing. When a biased person wants to justify his/her unfair actions, s/he resorts to this. Ex: Bush saying "we are fighting evil" as an excuse to bomb thousands of innocent people including children--no to mention raping women. She goes on my attacking a known tender spot in men: accusing us of lacking masculinity. Since she cannot rationalize her argument otherwise, she resorts to dirty and biased arguments.

Notice how she contradicts herself by calling men "boys", yet she clarifies at the end of her original thread that she used the term women to refer to women rather than "girls." She is clearly biased, but that is okay because we're men and can handle it right?

Do you all understand what it is like to be a man? Do you understand the complexity of men, the struggles of men that have also been around for hundreds of years? Do you know of all the men who have lost everything because their ex-wives take over their property after divorce? Do you understand that the court system grants women children's custody over 85% of the time and allows the father to "visit" his children only a few or only once per week? Yet, we are held responsible for financial support. If women and men are equal, why isn't financial support split in half? Heck, why isn't is split 40%-60%, taking into consideration that women do make less than men. Why don't an equal number of men get the custody of children?

Why do women have all these people feeling sorry for them and supporting them at a police station when they are raped, yet if a man goes in, he is most likely to become a laughingstock and have his complaint not taken seriously? Why is physical abuse against men minimized? and thought of as "oh he's a man; she can't hurt him." Why can a woman slap a guy across the face and assault him, yet if we strike back, we are coward/misogynists/sexist "bastards?"

I can go on and on and on. Lastly, if women and men are equal, why are men expected to pay for dates? Why are we the only ones drafted into the military in case of an emergency? If we are equal, men and women should be drafted equally. When was the last time you heard of a woman enlisting for the selective service at the age of sixteen?

No, just keep telling yourself that PackDaddy. I have seen guys that knocked the lights out of an "empowered woman" on a Sunday morning. Some empowered feminists think can get away with verbal and physical abuse with most guys and have expendable guy pawns which they stroke their egos thinking that they are "brave" and their "protectors". That's one giant statistical lie, based upon CEO pay of giant corporations. It is illegal under Federal law to pay women less than men for the same work. Minimum wage is the same for both genders. Young professional women are actually commanding a higher wage right now that young men in most urban areas. There's been a majority of women over men in US post-secondary education for a long time.

How are women still oppressed when more of them are in college than men and most of them make more money?

And if you're showing this to your class, let me wish them all the best of luck in getting a job with a liberal arts degree. They're going to need it. They are taking on life-crushing debt to get a worthless degree, which funds your cushy prof job. If anyone is oppressed, it's your students, but then again most of them are women
