Hi all,

I started using Xenadrine RFA-1 today, which I have calculated to last me 40 days in total (120 capsules). I am easing into it, taking half the recommended dosage (2 capsules per day, equalling 20mg ephedrine).

I have done searches here about Xenadrine/ephedrine, and I have only discovered the basics so far...e.g. do not take after 3pm as it may affect sleep etc. etc.

So my questions are, if you have ever used this product:

1. Exactly how many capsules per day should be taken, especially since I see so much conflicting information around...some people say do not exceed 4 capsules per day (a total ephedrine intake of 40mg) whereas some others say 6 capsules is the max dosage (60mg ephedrine per day!!!). The latter sounds excessive.

Personally, I think I should not exceed 3 capsules per day (total ephedrine intake of 30mg per day - each capsule contains 10mg ephedrine), but I am not sure what dosage will have the best results over the month and a half ahead.

2. I am 6ft 2inches tall, approx 190lb ( 95kg). A 'one month' supply should be enough for my cutting regime for the weeks ahead (6 weeks intensive, with ephedrine, based on weight training 3 times per week and HIIT training 3-4 times per week - no longer than 20 minutes).

Does the above program seem reasonable? I understand that ephedrine increases your body temp. and heart rate, therefore should one still go as intensively as usual with the workout schedule?

3. How much weight can one expect to lose, on average, with the aid of Xenadrine RFA-1, combined with a timetabled intensive fitness regime thrown in?

NB: I'm currently in a cutting cycle and I intend to cut for 8 weeks in total (5-6 weeks with ephedrine), as I have a roll of fat on my belly, after a bulking cycle.

I will admit I'm afraid of ephedrine products, ever since I got some pharaceutical grade ephedrine product for my sinus infection one time.

I remember laying in bed and sweating but my heart pumping like I just got done finishing sprints. I did not enjoy the feeling that I might be having a coronary event.

I can't imagine taking that and then working out, but I guess alot of people have.

I've gotten Xenadrine EFX (it's ephedrine free) and had good results from the summer. I lost about 4% body fat in two months of taking it.
It is also a good study aid, because the tyrosine helps you stay alert.

I'd be very careful with that stuff.

I've tried a number of ephedrine type products, including Xenadrine, Ripped Fuel, and a few others the names of which escape me right now. All basically have the same composition:
ma huang (ephedrine) and caffeine.

All basically had similar effects, both good and bad, and it didn't matter which brand I took exactly.

Here's my thoughts/experiences which, of course, may differ for you:

1. I started each product by taking two capsules per day and then went up to four per day, two morning, two early afternoon.
Base this on your own response to the product. For me, there is no way I could see going over four capsules per day; four was the absolute max. Three might be a good for you. Each of my cycles lasted about a month or until I thought I'd die if I continued. At lower doses (two capsules per day) I can go on this stuff for many weeks.

2. Your heart will feel like it is racing all the time. I thought on numerous occasions that the reason this stuff must work is that you are constantly 24/7 running a marathon. This will probably effect your sleep at first, but after awhile I just sort of got used to it. Because of the constant heart racing, I can see how this stuff could be dangerous. I also sometimes felt like my brain would explode.

3. You will lose weight and fat on this stuff. I cannot tell you how much you'll lose because everybody really is different. Do yourself a favor and get a bodyfat reading done, even if it's an estimated caliper type test. Most gyms will have someone who can do this for you. Keep a log.

4. Definitely want to keep away from any and all other sources of caffeine or any other stimulant while on this stuff.

5. Drink tons of water. You should be on a gallon a day in cutting anyway and on ephedrine I would increase that amount to a gallon and a half. This stuff just feels like it dehydrates the living sh!t out of you.

6. You WILL feel like you have an abundance of energy.

7. I think your training program a good one; for me, I wouldn't change it based on the ephedrine intake.

8. Just be careful and continually monitor yourself on this stuff.

9. One last thing ... most of these products have some aspirin in them which I can only think is used to thin your blood. Be careful not to take other supps that will further thin your blood.

No kidding this girl in my class would come in after work (night class) and she took that. She also mentioned she loved Starbucks. Probably explains why she could never sit still.

Damn I should have went out with her (I knew she was interested but was loyal to my gf at the time). She would have probably been wild in bed on that stuff!

Prosemont and Ricky - thanks for your posts.

I will make a log book and record results each day about how many capsules were taken daily (not exceeding 3 capsules), the bodily effects this has, including how this affects my training and diet.

I will also get my body fat measured tomorrow morning and again after the month is over. I can post this up if people are interested so people can see the effects...the results may encourage or discourage others from taking fat burning products as supplements to enhance weight loss.

If people are interested, I'll post something up once or twice a week, to keep you updated!

Update

Hi guys,

Here is an update about my personal experiences using Xenadrine RFA-1. Today (Sunday 23 Feb) is my ninth day of using it.

I have constructed a basic plan as follows to ease into and out of Xenadrine, for the:


1st week - 2 capsules per day (14 caps per week)
2nd week - 3 capsules per day (21 caps per week)
3rd week - 3 capsules per day (21 caps per week)
4th week - 4 capsules per day (28 caps per week)
5th week - 3 capsules per day (21 caps per week)
6th week - 2 capsules per day (14 caps per week)

Fitness training:

Mon: arms and chest
Tues: HIIT (12 minutes)
Wed: back and belly + HIIT
Thur: HIIT
Fri: shoulders and legs
Sun: HIIT

Xenadrine effects in my first week:

- feeling more energetic than normal, in a subtle way.
- better concentration
- feeling pleasantly 'warm'

- drinking far, far more water (by far the most noticeable difference - having to p!ss every 30 minutes can become a little annoying). Unlike before, however, I do not have to remind myself to drink more...when lower lip becomes slightly dry, and I feel warm, I know that I have to drink more.
I do not know what a gallon is, but I am drinking about 5 litres of pure water a day, not to mention other liquids, such as milk.

As Prosement says, it dehydrates your body quite a lot, yet this can be countered if you drink plenty of water.

I have not had any bad side effects using the product. It complements my training routine quite well. I would also add that if you combine HIIT training, to be sure to have a device measuring your heart rate...I found it quite easy to push myself to a heart rate of 180 beats per minute. I deliberately eased off and limited my sessions to 12 minutes as a result. Perhaps the ideal range is going at 160bpm, yet I find that this does not really exhaust me quite as much.

Any suggestions there?

OK, since Friday, I have increased my caps to 3 per day...and have adapted to this well also. No problems sleeping etc. I also find that I wake up easier in the mornings...and am more alert early on than before taking Xenadrine RFA-1.

I'll write another update when the second week is over.

1. What is your numerical goal here vis-a-vis bodyfat and/or weight loss? If you got your bodyfat measured, what is it and what do you want it to get to? And, what have you lost thus far?

2. What does your diet consist of in cutting and how often are you eating?

3. If you are cutting, why are you drinking milk?

1. I had my body fat measured last Monday (10 days ago). It showed that I have a bf of 19% :eek: Higher than I had expected. Exactly, I am 6'2, 94kg, with 19% body fat. I will get the bf measured once the month is up...

I hit the scales on Monday (3 days ago) and I had lost 1.5 kg in my first week. Since I am pushing weights hard, I would imagine that loss of muscle would be minimal. I want to get my bf percentage level in the region of 10-11% before bulking again. I imagine this will take longer than the eight weeks originally planned for...we shall see...but I think it will be hard to cut so much body fat in 8 weeks, we shall see...

2. My current diet (feel free to criticise):

Mornings: Oatmeal with semi skimmed milk (0.3% fat)

Mid mornings: an orange

Lunch: Just before lunch, I take whey protein mixed in skimmed milk as I have just worked out. Lunch is in always in Uni...a variety of meals each day...Carbs (rice/potatoes/pasta/or mixed vegs) followed by with salad, meat, and a fruity dessert.

This is the meal where I take most of my carbs for the day.

Late afternoon/early evening: protein drink or tuna tin.

Evening: Fish/chicken breast with mixed vegtables


- At relevant points in the day, I also take the Xenadrine, a slow burn vitamin tablet after lunch and also some zinc in the morning.

- Oh, and tonnes of water throughout the whole day!!

3. I am cutting, but drinking milk is necessary for protein supplements. Also, the milk I use contains just 0.3% fat so it makes little difference anyway.


Hope that anywers your questions, any comments critique welcome.

Diet

Thanks Anakin. Here's my views...

I personally never eat any fruit (at all) during a cutting cycle. The sugar in ANY fruit will set you back.

And, I would stick with the brown rice and nix the potato and pasta altogether.

I am in a cutting cycle, too, right now sans ephedrine.

Here's my current diet. It's about 2000 calories right now and I'll be dropping it in the next few weeks.

1. 6 am: 6 egg whites, 1 cup oatmeal with water
2. 9 am: MRP (meal replacement plan). I use Lee Labrada's
but Myoplex is also good.
3. noon: can of tuna, 2 cups of lettuce, one cup of brown rice
4. 3 pm: MRP
5. 6 pm: one chicken breast, two cups of steamed broccoli and carrots
6. 9 pm: protein drink, (designer), with a cup of water.

One gallon of water per day. No caffeine, no other drinks other than water.

Oh yeah, if you want to know metric conversions, find one on the net and convert.

Nice post Prosemont,

However, I would personally say, fruit is good for you in a cutting cycle. The sugar within fruit is fructose which is actually very good for you. They cannot be compared to normal sugars.

So, my opinion is, in a balanced diet, one has to include an apple/orange a day. Of course, I do not go heavy on fruits, but I do not personally think that there is a problem with eating an apple/orange a day.

Update:

In my second week I lost just 0.5 kg, despite a slightly higher Xenadrine dose (3 caps). Not good. Nevertheless, I will be working out more this week...my original goal was to lose 5 kg (10 pounds) in 5-6 weeks...it should not be a problem...so far I have lost 2kg in two weeks, so I am still on target.

I may be hitting a plateau...or gaining muscle, so it's important to note that what I lose, is mostly fat.

I'll write another update when I reach the end of my third week.

I hope that this information is helping...even in some way to the rest of you (kinda surprising to read that after about 250 views, the main contributions have come from Prosemont and Ricky).
I still feel fine taking Xenadrine, no problems, none at all...

Good post Anakin. (This is the mutual admiration society, isn't it?)

We'll agree to disagree on the fruit intake.

Regarding your plateau/stall:

1. Check your calorie count; you may even be taking in too few calories.

2. Check your protein/carb/fat ratios. I personally think you may have too many carbs in there, but opinions vary on this. My own ratio is about 2/3 protein, 1/3 carb.

3. You may even need to increase your fat intake; flax capsules are good for this. Other supps to take for cutting, fat burning:
L-Carnitine and Chromium Pic.

4. As you say, you may be trading fat weight for muscle weight.
The bf test will confirm this later.

5. Here's a secret that I learned from my ex-wife who was a ballerina with a major international ballet company (not kidding) about shedding any excess fat from your midsection and really making your abs come out. Buy a rubber velcro belt that is commonly sold with gym equipment (Weider makes one) and wrap that as tight as you can around your abs while doing cardio. The belt is very thin with rubber on one side that you put against your skin, and stretch material on the other side, with velcro for adhesive, and it is about ten inches or 25 cm wide. It will literally pull your midsection in to make it smaller while literally sweating any fat out. Might sound like a wives tale ;) but I swear it works in conjunction with cardio to give you a six-pack.

Btw, how are you feeling? Are you "feeling" or looking more ripped? You may also just be getting used to yourself because of the time involved but one day you'll wake up and say, wow, I AM ripped.

does any1 know about the risks associated with stuff like Xenadrine? i don't want to have medical problems by age 30 (i'm 18 now and just started taking X a week ago). Thanx for any info.

Update:

I will be calculating my new BF next week, I cannot wait. I still have another 2/3 weeks of cutting left before I take a break of 21 days. I have maintained the programme, although I was forced to cut my cardio to just two sessions a week last week, due to a great deal of research work...I'm under relatively tight time restrictions at the moment...and the same may be the case this week...last week I lost just 0.5kg.

Again, not good! I have thought about my diet, and I think Prosemont is spot on about the carbs...lunchtime in Uni is mainly carbs (potatoes,rice,pasta etc) with some vegtables and meats...and generally, choice is limited....so I have reduced the carbs, in particular on non-training days...and hopefully this will make the difference!! Nevertheless, I will be persistant and patient...results shall come, it is just a matter of time...

I am experimenting this week...for the last two days, I took only liquids for breakfast (water, and a protein shake) followed by more water mid-morning...prior to morning training. So far, I feel good, since I am not the kind of guy to consume much in the mornings for lack of hunger. Post-workout, I take whey protein and follow that up by lunch.

A tuna salad in the late afternoon/ early evening followed by green veggies and tuna/chicken breast in the late evening.

I'll see how this has an effect this week.

Prosemont, I think your diet is good, if not better than mine. Thanks for the tips. MRP's are actually very difficult, if not impossible to get here in germany...that's why I cannot use them, and the Xenadrine had to be imported...from Spain!!

At least the Xenadrine stops muscle loss during a cutting cycle...I have found myself to have become tolerant to the drug, although I thought it would have had more of an impact...

I'm not that close to being ripped right now...I think I would have to get to about 11% BF or below to be ripped...I feel slimmer...yet not enough has come off the belly so far...so I think at least one more cutting cycle is needed...at least! Nevertheless, results are showing themselves, only slowly..but surely! I think that is because (from what I hear) BF accumulates first in the belly for men, and is the last place where is it is burned! So, it takes an effort. Nevertheless, strength has improved during training which is a good sign and I can visibly see an improvement in the amount I lift.

Zinc tablets are also a good supplement...!!

I'll keep in mind the belt!! That sounds very interesting!! I may take that up..although doesn't that affect your breathing during cardio? And how is your training routine going...have you noticed changes in the last weeks?

I don't know about you guys, but my friend suggested this stuff to help me get the few % of body fat off i need to see my abs and I don't get any of that.

I can take 2 Xenadrine at 9am when i wake up and 30 minutes later go to bed without a problem. I don't get nervous, twitch, and my heartbeat seems the same. While i'll admit I get 10 more beats per minute when working out I don't see how so many have such huge responses to it. Maybe it's just because my caffiene addiction gave me a tolerance to this stuff.

I took 3 hydroxycuts this morning after about 3 hours of sleep.. was cool I didnt have a hangover from the night before.. After taking a shower I felt wide awake and ready to go. I went to school a couple hours early, got an accounting project done, emailed another teacher 5 paragraphs on some sources for my paper, went to my 3 classes and paid attention in all of them (took a lot of notes), got out of class and watched the end of fight club with my friends, drank some beers, ate for the first time that day, and felt GREAT. Basically I got more work done today than I did all of last semester. I drank a lot of water, pissed alot, smoked a lot of cigarettes, ate very little, and was in an overall good mood. As im sitting here I feel a little bit of the 'nervous anxious' feeling and a bit jittery, but maybe thats because im sitting here and not out and about. A couple of kids died from ephedrine, big deal.. what the news doesn't tell you is that they were probably cokeheads at the same time or tried to take an insane amount of pills at once or something obscure.. The way I see it, there are bigger risks with drinking and driving, smoking, etc etc and most of us do those without thinking twice anymore. Its like the being scared to fly in an airplane, when the chances of you dying in a car accident are far greater.. don't listen to anyone else, take a little bit at a time, if you can handle it, great, if you get sick or bad side effects, just stop taking it.. no big deal

That's what I found...I did not consume much caffiene prior to taking the Xenadrine, and in the first week, I felt much more energetic and great while taking the capsules.

Yet, by last week, I felt little effect taking the Xenadrine as I think I developed a tolerance to it. So that definitely has an impact.
Yet, I don't know why you'd want to take 2 caps at 9am and then want to fall asleep again! Besides, once you take Xenadrine, I hope that you cut out all of your caffiene intake (perhaps a coffee a day at best, while on the capsules). Also, drink plenty.

No, that's probably because you slept just three hours and you needed to sleep!! Also, it was combined with the fact that you took THREE Hydroxycuts (how many mg ephidrine per capsule??). The MAXIMUM single dose is 25mg!!! And you should not, IMO, exceed 40mg per day!!!!

If each hydroxycut capsule contained 10 mg ephidrine, then my friend, you exceeded the maximum single dose resulting in the way you were feeling when writing the post!!!

Really...if you needed a 'boost' from sleeping little, you could also take lots of coffee, or caffiene concentrates, but not the ECA stack!

Update!! 4th week Body Fat results

I managed to lose 2kg (4lb) this week, which was great and something I was happy with, and I managed to incorporate my new diet (see above), without any problems, and felt good throughout the week.

I also got my BF checked on Wednesday and the results are as follows:

1st week: - to recap - 94kg 19% body fat.

4th week: (combined with strictly keeping to my diet and the training resulted) in 90kg and 14.7% body fat!!!

I was very pleasantly surprised with the results...cutting my BF by 4.3% in just four weeks. Prior to the test, I was a little frustrated with not pushing my BF down further and was beginning to think that the Xenadrine may have been a waste of money...I guess I gained muscle as a result, and because muscle is heavier than fat, I thought I was losing less fat, when in fact I was adding muscle.

I took the BF test in the morning, and recreated the circumstances, to get an accurate measurement as possible...although I know that the BF measurement is not always accurate.

Nonetheless, I have 2 weeks left of cutting, but since the amount of work I have to undertake is quite large in Uni, I will take a break from cutting for 3 weeks now, until I meet some deadlines...before I carry on my cutting cycle aiming to get it between 10%-12% before bulking once again.

I'm surprised about the gains (or losses :D) made last week...and this stuff has worked for me...when it was combined with a sensible diet and working out.

I saw this thread while running a search, and wanted to resurrect it real quick...

I have a couple questions...

First off, you're taking the Xenadrine and Zinc right anakin? Anything else??

I just started a cutting cycle according mostly to DIESEL's guide, and Here's what I have right now. CLA, Multivitamin, Flax Seed, Whey protein, and BetaLean ephedra free.... I just got the BetaLean tonight, and I can tell a bit from taking some...Upped energy, warmth... kinda feel jittery.

I wanted to know if anyone knows of any bad effects from taking a fat burner and CLA... they both seem to add the same thing... and I don't know a lot about everything. DIESEL suggested both...

Also, I wanted to know of Anakin's progress, and had a quick question.

On your HIIT, what do you do. You said 12 mins... does that include warm up and warm down??

Here's my reason for asking. On my HIIT days... I do about a 4-5 min warm up jog... and 6 - 20 second sprints... Each followed by a 10 -15 second rest. And man... I can't finish all 6 balls out yet... I can do about 4, and the other 2 aren't fully balls out... it's hard...
But, fully, the 5 min warm up, sprints, and 3-4 minute jog to cool down comes to about 12 mins...

that's why I'm asking....

Yes. Here’s a quick list of supplements I take:
- Normal protein
- Whey Protein (only taken immediately post-workout)
- Vitamin tablet (slow-burn)
- Vitamin C supplement
- Xenadrine – only for cutting cycle –

Personally, I don’t use flax seed oil in a cutting cycle. As a student, not enough to buy glutamine (prices in Europe are ridiculous) otherwise that would be my next addition..

Of course, judging from DIESEL’s posts, he is far more knowledgeable than I am, and I have learnt a great deal from his posts, and perhaps he can give you a reason why he suggested taking CLA and a fat burner together.

From what I understand however, "CLA appears to be very helpful in helping people control weight," says Pariza. "It's not going to cause you to lose fat [N.B. I think that statement is sh!t, Anakin - but importantly he says..], but once you have achieved the weight loss that you want from a traditional diet, then at that point you could use CLA to control your weight, so you don't gain it all back -- the old yo-yo syndrome." Good. Last time I checked my bf, it was 11.5%. When I finish my current cutting cycle, in three weeks, I will take a 2-3 week break while gently upping my calorie intake and get ready to bulk up.

On your HIIT, what do you do. You said 12 mins... does that include warm up and warm down??
An important note about HIIT. Firstly, only introduce yourself to HIIT if you can maintain aerobic exercise for 30-45 minutes under normal conditions. If you can successfully do this – only then attempt HIIT.

If you undertake HIIT, do not feel that you have to hit the 12 minute mark at the beginning. Nevertheless, no matter how fit a person is, I do not think they should exceed between 15 minutes of HIIT.

Yes, my original 12 minutes included a warm-up and warm-down…note however that my warm-ups were 60-90 seconds, the same as my warm down. Now, that would be a maximum of 3 minutes of both warm-up and warm-down.

Ideally, it has been recommended that each HIIT ‘set’ ought to be 30 seconds hard (sprint) followed by 30 seconds joggin pace. I found that I could do this for the first few sets, but especially in the beginning, my sprint sessions fell to 25 seconds, and my recovery sessions increased to about 40-45 seconds.

Do not keep to 12 minutes. At the beginning, you may find that you only last half this time. Measure your progress personally and adapt it to yourself. When you feel like you are f***ed, ease into a warm down of 60-90 seconds and stop. This is how I do it .. but if someone knows better, I’m all ears!

I guarantee that if you do this 3 times a week, you will improve your stayability and the amount of ‘sets’ you do will increase, with time…Something I mentioned earlier in this thread, if you can, HIIT is best on a machine, like a gym bike, treadmill, cross-trainer that measures your heart rate (best IMO). Even better if you can measure your heart-rate. I found that, if I wanted to, I could push myself beyond my MHR (max heart rate – measured by 225 - your age and 80% of that) but obviously I did not and kept myself within the 160bpm (beats per minute) range, which I found the ideal range personally. Now that I’m using the crappier (but cheaper!) Uni gym, I have to be more self-conscious while on Xenadrine, because, speaking from personal experience, it enables you to push yourself harder.

To recap regarding HIIT:
- Do not attempt this, unless you can maintain a state of aerobic exercise for 30-45 minutes.
- I kept my warm-up and warm-down to 60-90 seconds.
- In a ‘set’, ideally keep yourself to a 30 sec sprint, followed by 30 sec ‘recovery’ period
- HIIT better done on a machine, esp. one where you can measure your heart rate.
- do not exceed your max heart rate (225-your age…and 80% of that figure)
