for the past month things... there not good. i think i have been handling them well. though it's getting worse.

my home life isn't great and to say my Christmas was good. is like saying romro can throw a football. he can't. there are so many goals i won't to complete this year, though right now i don't feel as well as i want to mentally. ( mainly because i went to see that girls I've been texting. it didn't go well though it didn't go bad i don' think. i need to be more aggressive. )

there are 2 sides to me right now. the one that pours out for attention like this. IE post this thread. and the one who says just get on with the fookin job. there as been so many threads i would have maid though this second personality kicks in and says it's not worth it.

it's so hard to explain. i sit here hung over, annoyed i went to see the girl i am fall for ( yeah, i need to get more girls) and i'm pissed i never kissed her. sure i don't think the opportunity came up last night, but i could have just grabbed her and done it, but i didn't. it's like, " i don't know how" but when you think about it it's easy. you walk up to her grab her face and kiss her.... so why is it so hard?

I've had an easy life, and everything I need ( food shelter clothing and few extras on the side) has been given to me. i feel bad, becuse i WANT to go sort this out, but i always feel like I am a poosy for doing so. like my problems are nothing. it's just me being less of a man or something... i'm not quite sure.

i don't really have anyone i can talk to about this stiff. my folks are kicking off here and i am in the middle, my dad is an alcoholic. my mum just dose most of her things out of spite and is annoying as hell. i really would like to just press ctrl alt del and find the escape key. it's too much for me. everything too much for me it's so pathetic. like i have a good life. i mean everything is handed to me. the ONLY thing i have ever had to work for is my cert 3 in financial services. witch i got! i'm so proud of myself.

I've always been told i am a P.O.S from every one in high school, to my mother on a dial basis. since school was so crazy ( teacher fooking the class over) i haven't had time to think. i'm on 6 week holidays. so straight after the stress of school i found a depression witch i haven't felt since i was 16. it was pretty alarming. i spent a week staying up all night till the dawn and watching skins. ( don't ask me why i don't know why it was skins, though i really felt for the char. in that show)

i think i NEED to go so i can get my head right, it hasn't been right for a long time. i know that, if i'm going to make the lofty goals i have set myself for this year, ( will post them up later in a different thread. ) then i will have to get my mind right so it can focus on the task at hand. not trying to to wort out the mess that's up there.

i just want to be stronger mentally because when i come it comes to **** tests, I'm failing them pretty bad right now. maybe i just need to have 1000 of them so i have the reference exp. but being more mentally sane right now can't hurt.

we was coming home from the casino last night in a taxi, i was next to the girl I've been texting and i pointed to one of the tall bank buildings. i said " i'm going to be working at the top of one of those one day" i smiled when i said it. it made me feel good. just to say it out allowed. i'm smiling right now as i say it.

i know this is one hell of a crazy rant, but my question is do you think it would be worth the money being spent on going to see a psych? I've been to one in school, only because they made me. it wasn't for very long and i hated it. ( the person i saw was Russian and i hated her. ) maybe if i mind the right person it might work out.

Packers2010,

It appears that yes, perhaps seeing a psychiatrist might not be a bad idea for you.

There is a lot going on here. Very deep, and has been going on for many years. So a lot of what is going on is deep rooted.

What will help, although I dont know how willing you are to do it, is to actually start focusing on certain things.

Identifying things, is a good step to understanding. Understanding things can then help us resolve, or solve them, if they are problems, and help us build a more solid concept or our circumstances, our reality.

So I ask you to take a moment, today, and write down, in a list...

each thing that you feel has had a Negative Impact on you.

Write out each incident, experience, etc.

Then...

Write out what is it that you DO appreciate now? What do you feel IS good in your life , now?

Remember, this is a real Mission. This is part of Men's journey, and quest in life. Its no joke.
You have to take time to reflect, and identify, and then work on solution.

Write down a list of Goals, accomplishments, and experiences you want to accomplish.

Last, look at each bullet point from the Negative list, and the Goals list.

Leave the Appreciation, Gratitude list alone for right now.

And on the previous lists, you will have to decide if there is anything, any real solution, resolvement, whatever...that you can Control.

If its someone else's problem, you have to decide "Can I fix it? Am I responsible for this?"
So for each issue, you must decide if you can change it, and you have control over it.

If you dont have control over it, and cant change it. Then you have to find a way to make peace with it.

If you DO have control over it, and you want something different, then you must make a plan.

Because you are kind of all over the place, YOU are a person who needs to accomplish this Mission. No one else can do it for you. No one else is in your head and heart. No one can sort out your problems.

So you have to make an effort, here and now, to step up for yourself. And begin the process of sorting these things out for yourself.

If you take the time to write out these things, and read them, and start the process of actually comprehending them..then you will have something tangible. Something to work from. Something to inspire and motivate you.

You can look down and in your hands you see your life reflected.

One of the things you must do is doing things you enjoy, and leave you feeling fulfilled. You MUST start doing certain activities that bring you joy.
You must recognize that being Depressed has its own weight, and consequences, and it drains the joy out of previous joyful activites and experiences. Armed with this knowledge, you must act, and counteract it.

Things like working out consistently.
Motivating music.
Taking time to be out in nature.
Doing creative activities.
Even things like training in self defence helps too.

You must feel your life is Worth it. So you must do. You must act.

The energy you get from that will help propel you further, and motivate you.
If you feel your life is worth it, you will have more reason to do the things you love, and feel enough desire to act on a plan to change your circumstances.

This in turn will help you be better prepared to meet with a psychiatrist to help you sort out what patterns, experience, behaviors etc you can identify, and work on changing.
Youve trained yourself to think of things in a certain way for so long, you believe there is no other way to look at things. But there are.

So take your time to Identify what is What.
Take the time to assert yourself against your conditions and circumstances.

This is the first step. This is being Mature, and Responsible.
This is being the Warrior. Be aware you will have ups and downs. But what you learn will help keep you more on an even keel.
Every dog has his day. Every warrior sometimes takes a knee.

But you need to look at this long term. And recognize these are habits you must form for your future.
You have to be your own drill instructor and mentor.
You have to assume the responsibility for your own Well Being.

People dont talk about it. But it exists.

So take a moment, and start your preparations for these things.
And realize there is no going back. THIS is what you do from now on.

Recognize each point. Identify it. Meditate on if you can change it or Not.
If you cant, you must get to a place of peace with it. If you CAN, then you must decide if YOU are worth fighting for. And then ACT on it.

You are on a Mission now, P2010.
How well you DO on it depends only on you. Have strength. Have patience.

Understand that at some point everyone must realize these things.

People change with irritation. Something always changes.
We all live in Life's "pressure cooker". How we come out on the other side has a lot to do with US.

Start facing this.

Go get started.

Good luck.

Bradd, you are mistaken. Psychiatry is very valuable.

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.

I agree with Brad here, we've become a nation of pvssies where we plead for help every time we run into a bit of a problem. Packers in not suffering from some kind of mental illness. He's not a schizo, nor is he homicidal. He may have had a bit too much to drink lol but that's not really a sign of a need for psychiatric services. Some of you guys talk about seeing a psychiatrist as if it guarantees it will help Packers solve all of his problems. I can't tell you how many people I know have seen a psych and were terribly disappointed with the service they received.

Packer is just going through some tough times, and it isn't anything that can't be solved by a little bit of good old fashioned manning up. Maybe Packers can keep himself busy, he's doing very well in school so far, maybe he can find some more hobbies or as brad suggested become more active and fit.

Sometimes we need to just man up and solve our own problems without depending on other to solve our problems for us.

I would say he just need to find something to do, something who keeps his mind a little busy like he said he is on vacantion possible he don't leave his house too, he don't get much sun and don't talk much.

best he can do now is go out and think over other things, let things settle on his mind before he do anything.

psychiatric is a valid thing? it will depend on how much the person who is working and who you are, I know for sure will not work for me, since I kind read a lot of this things and most of what he talks I will just shield it like a way to manipulate me in a way to or lower my standard or will find something wrong with is not wrong, it also depend on if you are the kind of person who like to talk about things or not, if he is not it will not work.

just find something you like do it for a time and let your mind settle a little then you should solve things, work for me several times, i'm doing something then out of blue my mind come to a solution because or I saw something or I was cool enough to let all thing settle then I ideas come to my mind.

but like all people here are saying its up to you to see what will work most for you.

I went to see one and I kept it at one session. In all fairness, this was just a session to get to know the problem, but for me it was enough because of all the BS she told me.

Basically, I started feeling so negative about myself after my latest breakup. I got into this thought pattern that I was not worth anything. This was at the age of 20. But OF COURSE everything for those psychiatrists boiles down to the fact one of my parents died when I was 12. Yes, it was harsh, but I got out of it and had a normal youth. I just know it's due to this girl, but no, not for them. I tried to talk about this break up, but she always changed the subject to the death of my parent.

Don't waste your money.

i'm not expecting them to solve them for me. i know i have to come to the conclusion myself. i just have NO one to talk to. my home life is a **** storm and no one REALLY knows about it. i just want to tell some one about it. you know.

today for example. i work out the reason why i keep fantasizing about have a family with this girl i met is because I've never really had a family. i mean. i have family MEMBERS but it's never been am family.

i had to get there on my own. i lay down on my bed and talk out loud to myself for 30 mins while no one was home.

Okay bro. I was in your situation. Even worse. Attempted suicides because of the past haunting me.

Listen after me. YOU DON'T NEED PSYCH.

Most of them are complete freaks. It's your subcouncious thing. And FEAR.

Something is dragging you down, ruining your confidence and you need to turn inside of yourself.

Man at one time I thought I had schizophrenia all of the stupid things coming in my head. The more I was afraid of them, the worse it got. Obviously psychiatrist wanted to put me on meds ( DON'T GET INTO THAT ****).

All I needed is to simply... Stop. Ignore everything around me and listen to myself. I concluded all the great things I did so far in my life, and the ones that affected me.

Then I visualized them while playing guitar ( I sucked but it was form of meditation ).

It's all in your mind. You control what you are, your emotions and how THEY will AFFECT YOU.

I'm no master in this. Still many things affect me. But before I would cry like a sissy girl for just being yelled at by someone... Now... and then... I feel like I killed my old self...

When it comes to depression, listen to music that has a lot of power to it.

Heavy Metal has always been my favourite type , since it encompasses everything from sadness to ' LET'S KICK THE SH1T OUT OF THIS PLACE ' thing...

Work out ( run, weight lift, train something).

Get into social circles , just be friendly , be around people that are funny ( I never knew I actually am good at jokes ) , and keep talking to yourself ( THINGS WILL GET BETTER, AFTER EVERY DARK NIGHT A SUN COMES UP ! (2pac rocks ) )

When I sum all things up. Man I never knew I'm suck tough motherfcker. Psychologist asked me once " How come you didn't end up like those kids in America killing the whole classroom ? "...

BALLS OF STEEL. Just keep pushing and everything will be FCKIN ALRIGHT.

I promise. It always works.

NOW HIT THE LIGHTS !

Psychiatrists do not solve problems for you. You don't understand psychiatry. Psychiatrists (who are physicians) are perfectly able to tell you that your condition is mild and something that you can solve without intervention if that is the case. There is no shame on getting an expert opinion. You and I are not mental health experts. Many mental illnesses are life threatening (and easily treatable), so I suggest that you keep this in mind when advising people not to go to the doctor.

I had two girlfriends whose mothers were psychiatrists.

One would take a shoe and throw it through window ( and break the glass) because she couldn't tie it properly.

Other kicked her 15 year old daughter out of house because she didn't achieve the desired overall score in school ( which was to be highest, but she didn't achieve only 2 subjects to highest, but to 2nd place... She was still the best in class ) , and she spent next 3 months living in houses of her friends..

Still think they are normal?

Pft I cant believe they are able to call themselves "physicians" now. Makes me sick to my stomach. I think they leech on other peoples problems to make themselves money for the problems that those people could have fixed themselves in the first place. Psychology hasnt even always been called a "Science" by definition until recently it has changed to involve using psyc to understand biological reasoning.

Mental illness, you mean treat them with more drugs? thats all they do. They do not fix anything, they treat them with drugs. Drugs drugs and drugs.

Go see a therapist if you want someone to talk too, dont let a psychiatric doctor give you drugs just because they dont want to talk to you and just make money off the prescriptions they hand you. And yes therapist and a psyc. doctor are different... very different. Psyc. doctors are where you get prescriptions filled and therapists are where you can actually talk out your problems.

Therapist > psyc. doctor if you had to choose one. Ergo brad is right, they dont do sh1t.

They think all illnesses are made by disorders of hormones and neurons.

They think a pill will solve your problems. You're better off doing Heroin in vein than taking that ****...

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

Psychiatrists have always been physicians, maybe you are confusing them with psychologists? You are correct, however, in pointing out that they use medications for treatment (like all other physicians). Psychiatrists have among the lowest salaries of all physicians, so they definetly didn't go into the field to get rich. After undergraduate they have 7 years of additional education and accumulate hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition loans to pursue the field they love. Psychiatric medicine in evidence based, meaning that it is a proven fact that the medicines save lives and reduce symptoms. Ignorance about psychiatry and the stigma that "bros" perpetuate by saying that it's not "manly" to use a psychiatrist is the reason why people with treatable conditions don't get the help they need and sometimes die as a consequence. I have nothing left to contribute to this thread and won't be reading it anymore. Just realize that it is sometimes OK to give advice on something that you know nothing about (eg, dating tips etc), but when lives are at stake you should leave it to the experts.

Well, on 1 hour of sleep I can see why I mixed them up haha. Disreguard that statement I made then . I just hate the word "bro" .... I never said it wasnt "manly" im just saying you dont need a substance to bring yourself back to baseline. Just because its a legal drug doesnt mean it helps your body. For example, adderall, most abused "smart" drug out there. Adderall is a legal amphetamine and it is horrible for your liver, catabolic to your muscles, and is addictive. I dont even like taking medicine as is, even fvcking all that Dayquil etc destroys antibodies in your immune system. Hence why not using medicine is actually better than using it. OF course we want "fast" recovery so many people would opt for the medicine to get better than to let it pass/work on it yourself.

some actually are and the funny part is you can THINK your self into something like depression. You know people have actually died because of organ failure caused by being depressed which was induced by THEM? Your mind should be your strongest muscle (even though its not one :p) . I think its funny how you can think yourself into anything really, the mind is one powerful presence.

let's suppose you go see a therapist for a while and it works out for you, how will things be different then? what do you expect to have happened?

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.
