Why hot girls choose to sit next to others on the bus

Weird title perhaps but it's something I've been thinking about for a long time.

Whenever I get on the bus to go to town, hot girls rarely sit next to me, often choosing overweight middle aged women instead.

At first it made me wonder, but examining it they seem to evade the other young men who dress well, again in favour of the ugly members of the crew.

Now there's no way on earth they actually prefer sitting next to some middle aged woman than next to me.

I smell nice
Dress well
Have good hair
And have been told I'm good looking

So why do they sit next to other people?

Well cast a mind back to your AFC days.

When you got on a bus did you sit next to the hot girls or did you find an empty seat in the corner, or perhaps opt to sit next to some ugly stranger?

I know what I did, and it wasn't sitting next to the hot girls.

Why did I do this?

Intimidation caused by lack of confidence.

In those couple of seconds after stepping on the bus and assessing where to sit, you think about the options.

"No way, she's pretty, she won't want me sitting next to her etc etc etc"

This is what goes through a girl's head.

Maybe you think I'm being incredibly arrogant here, but why else would they choose to sit next to some old woman over me?

Even if I didn't dress well and didn't wear nice aftershave and the like, do you honestly believe that a middle aged woman is preferable?

No is the obvious answer.

Obviously this is only one example but the actual intimidation factor can be applied to many areas of life.

Btw, when I'm in a bus, I get a empty spot, and sit next to the *hallway?*, not on the window.... why? No, not because I want to be alone etc... but because I don't fit and need the extra place to the sides so that I fit.

Those were the first 5 that came to mind, I'm sure that there are others. I highly doubt the only reason they don't sit down next to you is because they are so massively overwhelmed by your rugged good looks and killer fashion sense that they can't bear the thought of being next to you for fear you might reject them. Then again, that's just my .02

When you have other options, choosing to sit next to someone is tantamount to approaching them.

I think girls would rather avoid that possibilty if they can, expecially when there not in the place (eg, a club) where they plan on actually interacting with guys.

Overanalysis. There is not significance to be drawn from every action of a person.

I'll give you a better reason and more viable reason if you are still seeking one. Its the same reason why a lot of girls will have a friend who isn't great looking at all who they hang around with. It improves everyone else's framing of them. Everything happens in perspective, in determining the worth of anything we will forever compare. If a girl is framed with a weaker product then it gives the perception that she's even hotter than she is. The same will work in reverse, if you're out and one of your friends is a model or a celebrity, even though you may be great looking and have an excellent success when you take a night out, because you are framed with a better product, or what they perceive as a better product you've got a little more of an uphill struggle than you would normally!

... and you ride the bus! Where I live, a bus is called the "loser cruiser".

You like these hot chicks on the bus because their appearance is important to you, and their status isn't so much.

They don't evaluate you in quite the same way.

You don't score very many points that you are the same as they are (dressed well, good-looking and taking the bus, just like them).

Last time I took the bus it was because I ran into a bit of trouble after 20 miles of a long run. I was dressed in running gear, didn't smell good, and my hair was a mess! The bus is on a route toward a university campus. I got on, water bottle in hand, and said, ah man, once in a while you have to give up after 20 miles and take an emergency ride. It was obvious that I didn't know the routine of getting on a bus and paying or what the fare amount is, etc. I caught like four good-looking girls checking me out.

When you are taking the bus, strike up conversations with people. Within earshot of the hot girl, mention that you are on your way to pick up your car from the shop where it is being performance-tuned. Jingle your car keys and ask the rhetorical question how anyone can stand taking these buses day in and day out, and point out how the bus has been passed by several cyclists going the same way due to making so many freaking stops. In a humorous way, not like some whiner, of course.

They're just intimidated. Don't think too much about it, and go sit to the hot girl when YOU take the bus. Also, sometimes, you'll find a hot girl who's ballsy enough to sit beside you... But I agree with the initial post though.

i had this same observation for years......whenever a girl walks into a waiting room of any kind they always sit next to the oldest most unattractive person in the room, i believe its either because:

1. Thats the only loser in the room who won't try and hit on her

2. She wants to look stunning sitting next to an ug

3. She wants to look compassionate sitting next to an ug

and thats all i could ever come up with......who knows how chicks think

I dont sit next to girls on the bus, no matter how hot they are. The bus just isnt a good place to pick up. I mean, bums sleep there forchrissakes.

Women do this to avoid being hit on by strange guys. They know that IF they sit next to a guy when there are other places they could sit that the guy will assume she chose to sit by him because she is attracted to him or something.

I don't know where you live, but in MY town anybody who would do that is risking recieving much hate from whoever hears that, in the very least. Is like sitting in coach and *****ing about why they're not passing mimosas like in First class - your usual accomodation. U feel me? You don't come across as whiny, just plain snotty...

Ok then let me satisfy your curiousity.

Fine women are used to getting hit on and looked at all day by perps. Guys can't wait to try to get their attention.

Secondly fine women like to compare themselves to other fine women cause many are suffering from low self esteem.

So if your a pretty girl on a commuter full of guys you wouldn't give a dam about...where would you sit.


Why, next to another pretty woman who shares your same fate. Atleast you know this woman will not try to hit on you like the multitude of desperate men out there, and for just a brief moment you have a respite from all the attention...and what better way to check out the competition.

I hope this satisfys your curiosity, so you can let it rest and then start working out ways to approach these fine babes and become one of the many who hit on her all day long.

Agree that one has to approach and convey confidence, but perhaps maybe, just MAYBE, the content of what you say might have a little effect on the whole ordeal.

Come on, a guy riding the bus telling a stranger (who, for all we know, rides the bus every day because he can't affoard to buy a car) that besically riding the bus sucks, and making noise with some keys? Aside from praying to god that someone doesn't say that they've seen you riding the bus before, the guy in the example is trying to PROVE HIMSELF, making excuses to appear better in the eyes of someone. And girls can totally see through that.

What I'm talking about isn't about approaching or being confident, it's just about not being an arsehole.

I NEVER sit next to guys anywhere. Simply, i dont want to be hit on and have some lame-@ss guy strike up a conversation with me and make me uncomfortable. Plus, i have a boyfriend and whenever i say that i'm taken, guys always think i'm lying and they get all mad, saying that i'm making an excuse not to talk to them. Simple as that. Coming straight from a good-looking female.
