WHY does the media openly promote AFC'ism?

Was flipping through the channels the other day and came upon "Made" on MTV, this kid was trying to become a rapper apparently. Halfway through the show he is trying to ask this girl out, and when he finally gets the balls to walk up to her, he has ..... SURPRISE SURPRISE some "home-baked" cookies and a few flowers

Now, I kinda suspected from his girly-ish voice/demeanor that he was AFC from the start. But seeing him baking COOKIES for this girl while asking her out? :crackup: :crackup: :crackup:

So this got me to thinking ... pretty much all forms of media show the "nice" AFK guy ending up "getting" the super hottie at the end. This seems to be the recurring theme in 95% of TV programs and most movies.

Then I thought, what's the point of all this? Why encourage men and boys for that matter to act like total pu$$ies??? I just don't get it, on paper it makes no sense whatsoever, unless there is some hidden agenda. Is it just feminism?

Nah, its not feminism per se. To quote one of my favorite movies High Fidelity: "What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?"

People like this sh1t because they can wallow in their misery if the protagonist loses. If the protagonist wins, the AFC watching feels like there is hope for him. Its mental masturbation.

Corporations put this stuff out there because people are willing to swallow their garbage. Same concept applies to why crap bands like Nickelback are popular.

its because its an ideal, and said character dynamics make for certain interesting stories. its all storytelling, people. stop taking it so personally. society always changes from one ideal to another. independence, however, is represented as well. casino royale is centered around how becoming vulnerable with an untrustworthy trickster woman almost cost him his life and identity.

This is interesting.... and a real eye opener. I believe this is unconsciously true, since not everyone can be heroes, since heroes need followers. The card industry, candy, flower, are notorious for spreading AFC ideologies. I believe TV advertisers have spread AFCism because they target women in masses... since they buy usually wit emotion, and emotion sells.

Pat yourself back for not being in the matrix. :rockon: AFC behavioir is rampant because as the saying goes.... " when in rome, do as the romans do". Since most of the population is AFC, advertisers will target them with their same ideologies.

when i slowly started falling out of AFCism,
i started realizing everyone BUT me was benefiting from what i did.
when you're a AFC people get you to do what's not in YOUR best interest, while making it seem like it is.

who's gonna support the kid a girl birth that's not his ?

AFC and can be manipulated much more easily then any other type of person. That's what creates the subconscious resentment that causes most AFCs to fall over to the dark side and never come back. AFCs but their asses out on the line and just get shafted from every angle, by women, by the media, even by their own parents. Only a few wake up or have the balls to step out of the cycle. Look at that show The Hills? If ever there was a film with AFCs, that would be it. You really think Spencer and Cody and Brody and all those Abercrombie-types are examples of real me? NOT too many mouths to feed. Don't know where you got this idea from. The planet is more than capable of providing for many times more than our current population, it's just a matter of economics.

As for the whole keeping the population under a certain number, it's true that there are people out there who believe that, and they have bullsh*t statistics to back up their claims

Promoting AFCism is a literary device used by the media because it works. Women are empowered by it because they're seeing AFC's placate them and beg for their attention on TV, and most men enjoy it (because most of them are AFC's) because it gives them hope that their AFC ways are actually going to work one day. False hopes anyway.

There are many different types of people, and many challenges we must overcome. You can compare AFC media to this thread - it is mental masturbation and lets us surround ourselves with the type of values we are comfortable with. If you want to bash aspects of society and blame them for whatever, then go ahead - you may be right, but it accomplishes nothing other than making you feel relieved that others share your values.

It's not necessarily telling people how to live their lives, its about helping out your fellow man. It's only criticizing these people if that the way they CHOOSE to live their lives which I doubt many do. This AFCism is imposed.
