Is it evolutionary?
I see it over and over. Women genuinely think some straight guy who hangs around them is doing it purely because he enjoys their friendship. Do they subconsciously know that they are stringing him along (and the guy is letting himself be strung along), but rationalize it that they enjoy each other's platonic company? Is this really what beta-orbiters are all about?
Obviously, there's a difference if a guy is drowning in *****, so the effort to get the girl isn't worth it versus having her company/social proof. But most guys aren't.
I've also heard some girls rationalize this as they want the guy to "prove his worth" to them. To which I reply: what makes YOU so special versus another girl he could replace you with in the next twenty seconds?
It just baffles me. Usually if a guy is "friends" with a woman, he is attracted to her and wants her at some level. And females completely ignore that last part and think he's willingly just wanting to be friends.
A lot of these are hot/high-value females.
