Why do so many women think that slender women are "unhealthy looking"?

I see Leann Rimes once or twice a month lately, in person, and there is definitely something weird going on with her looks. Maybe too much make up or maybe it is drugs like someone mentioned?

But as for the weight issue, definitely bigger girls feel much freer to comment on skinny girls looking unhealthy, then skinny girls commenting on big girls looking unhealthy. I've been tiny all my life, and it gets on my nerves when someone tells me I am too skinny. But I know without replying that while I can (and do) eat anything I want, and all I want all day long I will stay at just around 100 lbs. She who makes the rude remark probably must restrain from eating a piece of pizza or indulging in an ice cream cone.

So that is the trade off. I used to have a huge complex about being too skinny, but now I feel blessed.

You should. Too skinny beats the hell out of too fat any day. For health reasons alone...

A lil off-topic, but being "skinny" is in no way proof of good health.

You can't escape metabolic syndrome just because your body doesn't store fat like people who are fat/obese.

This is getting a bit black and white. This thread is about girls that are too skinny not too fat. Just because a girl is not too skinny doesn't logically mean that she's too fat.

I suspect what we're talking about here, is women that are so skinny, they lose their curves. Kate Moss is an excellent example. To me, her body is not womanly enough. There's nothing happening for me. Now the next man may disagree, and have a much higher threshold of how skinny they'll go. That is a matter of taste.

The other thing to take into consideration, is that some women actually suit being skinnier than others, depending on the overall look and vibe of the woman. If she's a burlesque dancer, she has to have curves really, but if she's a supermodel that's a different vibe and she can get away with being skinnier.

It is possible for a skinny woman to also have curves and a fat woman to have no curves at all.
To me, it's not a matter of skinny and fat, it's a matter of proportion. Give me that hourglass figure, and I've actually got quite a range of body type I'll go for in a woman, all the way from svelte athletic to mildly plump. Now that's quite a range of body sizes. But the curves have to be there.

My last girlfriend was diefintely built for comfort in a kind of burlesque body type. Lovely breasts, a real handful, and a good spankable ass.
My girlfriend before that (who I might add was 20 and I was 33 and I enjoyed her for 4 years after that - I'll accept money, not applause  Haha ) was a lot taller and more athletic.
Both however were very curvy girls and both were equally as enjoyable. Both of their asses looked fine when they walked and did that up-down side to side thing that I love. Especially in heels.

Variety's the spice ;)

True. The curves are where it's at.

My last girlfriend had a thick a$$, now she was in shape, ran, lifted, and worked out. However, when we started living together I saw that she had a junk food addiction. Her thought was, that she didn't have time to eat healthy. I called BS on that. I could see that if she slowed down at the gym we were headed towards land whale territory. Sexual attraction dropped.... and I was outa there. Of course shaming ensued... I apparantly am a bad person for making such a choice. Lesson learned...

I recently hooked up with the skinniest chic in my personal history. 5 ft even and 83lbs with fake tits. At one point, while hitting it doggy style I thought about what my friend said about her and almost lost my my erection. "Dude, it's the closest you'll ever get to banging a 10 year old boy". The short bob hair cut didn't help at all. Then she did this move that made me forget all about that.

Having gone from both ends of the spectrum, I'll take a skinny chic over a fat chic and a normal healthy in-shape chic over both.

I hate to be the one to point this out, and please don't anyone take this as a flame, but I can't help but notice that it's a uniquely White Knight habit to publicly defend a woman's body image insecurities in order to get the identification / affirmation strokes they believe endears them to women. I hear these guys parrot back the same lines women self-affirm when talking about their body shape or trying to disqualify a sexual competitor, in an effort to be more 'like' the women they hope to get with. The idea is that they believe they'll be rewarded for taking the "fat acceptance, love-who-you-are" tact and be perceived as more modern or up with the right conventions, and that guy's who actually have the temerity to say they prefer a tight body are the neanderthals (again, to disqualify their own sexual competitors.)

^^^ I agree. That's a certain kind of man trying to suck up to get laid. In the UK I'd call him a "creep" dunno what the yanks call them.

I still maintain I like 'em curvy though.

Sorry samspade, but both buxom and voluptuous (esp the latter) have been co-opted by the landwhale brigade.

The problem with the word "curvy" is it's been co-opted by women to include any and all tubs of lard out there.

Man: I like curvy [J-Lo] women.

Women/AFCs: Real men like curvy [Oprah] women.

We should stop using this word and find a more palatable substitute. Perhaps buxom or voluptuous, as sex appeal is implicit in their meanings. The only thing implicit in "curvy" these days is "mercy fukk / drought stopper."
Yeah agreed. "Curvy" doesn't mean "Fat".
Jennifer Aniston, Dita Von Teese, etc. = "Curvy".
I think "Voluptuous" is a good one. "Buxom" seems to conjure up fat again in my mind - or disproportionate.

Curvy, Voluptuous, etc. does not mean fat, it means Kim Kardashian or Katy Perry. Katy Perry is the best example, IMO. There are some guys who would call those women fat and prefer to see rib and dangling skin. More power to them, but I don't think they should be setting the standard.

I won't be shamed into thinking this:

is hotter than this:

Good examples there, FortyOz. I agree, a girl can be too skinny. I never liked that anorexic model look. But I guess ultimately it's a matter of taste.

When I was a young man (many years ago), "curvy" never meant fat. It's disappointing to see it used that way today.

Women who think other women are to skinny say so because they are ashamed that they are fat. Of course there are exceptions as some of the models are ridiculous with their rib bones poking out, their skeletor elbows, stick arms and legs.

I like women to have some meat on their bones. However, most women are too fat and so they're basically shaming people who might call them out for not being in shape by creating a situation where they want people to normalize their fat figures as socially suitable when in reality they are obese and unhealthy.

There's a reason why obesity has reached critical mass in US society. Part of it is that people are way too accepting of obesity.

Go to Europe you really have to try hard to see really fat people, whereas here in the States you can't go 10 feet without seeing some sort of whale.

Another thought - to me, I associate skinny ^^^ As descirbed in the second sentence of the post above with old. Like old pensioner old. The way a lot of old women turn when they get about 75 or 80. All bony and suchlike when they shrivel up. Ewwwwww.......
A little bit of meat (like Kate Perry) conjures up a woman in her prime, or youth.
It suggests healthy and youthful.

That's horrible. I bet that girl looks 10 or 20 years older than she really is.

I was reading this article about newlywed LeAnn Rimes. in which there is a nice sexy pic of her. Evidently, most of the women reading this think that she is too skinny and therefore unhealthy.

Is it that a proper looking, high sexual market woman is a threat to all the chunky women out there?

A lady friend of mine would always say the same thing. (BTW, she's 5'6" 260# now, and her husband traded her in for a woman at half the weight.) When an attractive woman would be shown on TV and the men would ogle, she would say, "she's not pretty!" But then when someone like Oprah would be on, "she's pretty!"
This is a USA/UK/CAN Woman thing.

Women in South America, upper classes of Mexico, most of Asia, Central Europe and Russia expect to be thin and they are. I have heard, but do not have proof, that over the past 35 years dress sizes in the USA have not only increased on average, but that what was a size 6 in 1978 is now a size -0-, what was a size 20 is now a size 14, and 14 is the average dress size.

US women are just fat.

Funny thing is, the more they spread awareness about healthy choices and obesity, the fatter people get. You're my age. When I was growing up I barely remember hearing about obesity. When you heard about women and weight it was usually about eating disorders, anorexia and bulimia.

The problem with the US is the diet. People eat the wrong foods and have gotten used to huge portions. In Asia and Europe for the most part they don't even have to worry about getting fat because their diet is sensible. They don't even have to think about it.

Agreed, and its because everybody focuses on the wrong thing. Everyone worries about carbs and fat, when in reality it all comes down to QUANTITY not quality. I do disagree about portion sizes though. I mean sure its an issue, but the single biggest factor in gaining weight is SNACKING.

Picking at things here and there. Grabbing that single donut (then an hour later having some chips, then a soda, then some candy later on, then more "oh one bite won't hurt", etc etc. If these people just allowed themselves one single big plate of real good food, they'd be much better off.

I've been losing weight steadily for a while now, and on good days you should see the size of my dinner plate. Its huge. That's because I space out my daily calories to allow it, and it works for me. I need that one big meal a day.
