Aluminum suspension on most Audis is a pain in the butt. It is comfortable, no doubt about that, you don't feel bumps with it, but on bad roads you have to replace it every year, and you can't just replace stuff that is broken, you have to replace everything. Same with BMW X5 and X6. If something in suspension goes, replace the whole thing. Factory originals cost a lot of money, while chinese crap is cheap, it won't last as long. So each year you spend some serious money on those cars.
Most people that buy those cars, either lease them, or buy them 2nd hand and drive until something brakes, then sell them. That 2nd scheme is how majority of used car market works. So you end up with "nice" cars for 10 or 20 thousand euro that appear to be "nice" until you find out about the maintenance costs.
This does not mean you have to go out and buy a cheap car. Because car is first of all for you, only then it is to show the world what you have achieved. Mostly young people buy certain cars to impress women. Women dig cars, because a car has certain romanticism to it. Any woman is yours if you have a cool BMW, just drive up to them, and there you go you open them. Same is not possible in a Ford, or a cargo van, or even worst, a mini van. From the car, you should get excitement, that is the key thing. Your car should not bore you.
But take any vehicle, and you dig into it, you soon discover that excitement costs money. The more exciting a car is, the more money it costs to buy, and the more money it costs to maintain. So us poor people end up with cheap cars, not because they are awesome, and not because we don't need awesome car because we have a big ****, but because we can't afford anything else. That is the brutal reality, we drive what we can afford.
