What's it like working in a bank? Have you ever worked in public accounting?
Banking is still a good industry from my viewpoint, it's been a chaotic year however. I'm in a role where I get to be involved with our SEC/external reporting, but also work on the internal operational and strategic components of the business, it's a good gig.

Interned at one of the "Big 4" public firms, but declined their full time offer. A bank I'd also interned for offered me a job straight out of college, and since I reported to a CPA, they were able to sign off on the experience requirement for licensure.

Sounds like a good career choice.

Does your brain ever get tired?

Burnout is a real thing. We have long hours certain times of the year, usually one month a quarter (60+ hours), but we make sure to take advantage of the down months with time off and reduced hours.

I can't imagine the burnout. I've worked 60 hours in a week twice during tax season as an intern. The only thing that got me through it is OT pay and knowing it was going to end. After the deadline, a lot of the clients filed extensions to October, and they let the interns go.

Took me about a week to recover. And that was just once.

Mainframe Computing. I work shift work, 12 hour shifts. 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off. 7 weeks Rec Leave per year. So in effect, work less than half the year.

Wouldn't be a bad idea. Anything that strengthens my brain or ability to think is always a good thing.

Also, which languages do you know?

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.
