What's it like working in a bank? Have you ever worked in public accounting?CPA working in finance for a bank.
Banking is still a good industry from my viewpoint, it's been a chaotic year however. I'm in a role where I get to be involved with our SEC/external reporting, but also work on the internal operational and strategic components of the business, it's a good gig. What's it like working in a bank? Interned at one of the "Big 4" public firms, but declined their full time offer. A bank I'd also interned for offered me a job straight out of college, and since I reported to a CPA, they were able to sign off on the experience requirement for licensure.
Burnout is a real thing. We have long hours certain times of the year, usually one month a quarter (60+ hours), but we make sure to take advantage of the down months with time off and reduced hours.Sounds like a good career choice.
Does your brain ever get tired?
I can't imagine the burnout. I've worked 60 hours in a week twice during tax season as an intern. The only thing that got me through it is OT pay and knowing it was going to end. After the deadline, a lot of the clients filed extensions to October, and they let the interns go.Burnout is a real thing.
