The anti-minimum wage argument is BS. Do you not know your history, STR8UP?
If left to its own resources, the free market results in great masses of people working 80-90 hours per week to make barely enough to
survive, just like the Di
ckensian sweatshops of the 19th century.
The argument only applies in a capitalist closed system in which there is no public alternative mechanism by which people can earn a living.
There are plenty of
resources to easily provide for everyone's needs, while other enterprising people can still get mega-rich. The only thing that keeps it from happening is people's
tunnel vision.
One can try to justify the insanity with pejorative terms ("Robin Hood," "conspiracy theorist," etc.), but if the blinders come off, people will
demand it. It's already happened in much of Europe ( the nations in which the quality of life is considered better than the US, despite
way less natural resources), and is the direction in which the evolution of economic systems is ultimately heading ...
