For those of you who have seen Landman, the main plot may be a little off based, however, the way the ex-wife behavior is scripted , and also the daughter of the landman, are relevant. I did see parallels with regular white girl behavior. Unfortunately, these are less than optimal behaviors, nonetheless I’ve seen this so clearly in the real world, that I recommend the series almost as a case study.

On another note, I sometimes go to bars just to watch people’s behavior. I though I would share a couple of things I have saw:

1) most solid looking guys arrive with their girls already

2) men that appear to be hunting the dance floor are usually in a group of men, and I’ve seen multiple approaches: some just sit down and watch from the sidebar sipping a beer, once they establish eye contact they might move further if the interaction is favorable. Some just stand there talking among themselves and might do something if they receive an IOI.

3) Whenever I’ve seen a guy acting alone, it’s usually a 6’4 bulky type of guy. The last example of this was this guy just walking directly towards a pretty girl in the dance floor and asking her point blank: do you have a boyfriend? Girl said yes, and the guy just walked away from the bar, I assume to another bar? I could picture this guy having an strategy of doing this in 4 to 5 places to find a girl each night.

4)Then there’s the shorter, not so solid looking guys that seem to know each other, stick around and try to dance with random girls in the crowd. I’ve seen some of these guys score with girls that are already drunk by the end of the night, or make a connection for a next time.

Group 1 usually dances, group 2 usually doesn’t dance, group 3 doesn’t dance at all, group 4 dances.

Curious to know how similar or not is your experience

Are you trying to learn something from our experiences? Like is there a broad question you're looking to have answered?

Because bars are a really bad place to observe successful behavior, since you'll see it so rarely.

Most people in America are overweight, underpaid, and married to unattractive women. If anything, these observations should tell you to do the opposite of what you're witnessing.

@parabellum I'm glad you mentioned Landman, I was going to ask if anyone ever dated women like the mom or daughter? I had a girl that was just like the mom. Fun, flirty, outgoing, talks to everyone, and insecure. Train wreck looking for a place to happen most of the time.

My favorite scene was when Angela and her daughter get drunk at the country club and Tommy tosses her in the pool.
He is pretty good with handling her.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

That makes sense. A guy going for women in a place with alcohol needs to be able to defend himself, or at least appear somewhat intimidating.

Another good Case Stud
Do you lift and know a martial arts?
yes. yes.
But I’ve never been to a bar/club where people get violent. I’m sure it happens. For whatever reason, people don’t harass me. I doubt it is because I look scary.

I don't know, if you look anything like your avatar...

Men, women, and alcohol is a recipe for violence. And some guys are just plain mean drunks. I knew some big guys who used to go to bars with the express intention of getting into fights, so there's that too. There are factors at play though. If you're a regular, if you're with friends, if you are seen as well liked by the group, etc.

I think I got the sweet spot. Being facially attractive, I get the Halo Effect. Paired with being short means I’m not a threat to men. So
I get treated well by everyone. I’ve spent time in bars/clubs in over 40 states & never once had a violent experience.
As an example. A buddy & I were at a hard rock club in Wichita, KS. (Rock Island). A random dude came up and promised to guard my back. And later. A girl hit on me & bought me a drink.

Landman is a great show. Exaggerrated, but not by much really. Angela & Ainsley are both charicatures but again, not by much. They are women who have been taught to get by on looks....and they know they are hot & what men want. They are also insecure, because yes, they rely on looks to get what they want...

They are also very transactional in relationship. This is spot on accurate according to my ovservations from real life of this archetype of woman. Tommy knows how to handle Angela, but he can only handle just so much. He knows she is hot....he takes that in stride by not paying it to much attention, he loves her....but he knows her.

Frankly I find the characters of Angela & Ainsley so over the top as to be an embarrassment compared to real life, and of course that's the point. There are women like that and they are hot messes without exception. The character who embodies a woman of character is the young Latina widow. Her character is what a "virtous" young woman should aspire to as to her character, as in her values and how she behaves. She's a solid woman who happens to be pretty. And I like Tommy's son too. Again a very solid person. Demi Moore plays Monty's wife & represents well the archetypal Texas baron's wife. Very supportive & in the background, but prepared to step in and handle a crisis if necessary.

Tommy's character is throwback Texas bad ass, handling everything and taking it in stride. My father would have loved the show.

Read a book called The Big Rich if you like the show. It chronicles the Texas oil barrons and is a very colorful, uniquely Texas, interesting read.

It’s older, & I’ve probably mentioned it before, but MadMen is very real. What Don Draper experiences is actually what really happens. If you wan’t a Black Pill of what life is like for a GL guy. This is it. If you’re wondering if you are GL. Watch this. If you have experiences like Don. You are GL.
