Canned tuna fish - it's a convenient source of protein, but by itself it's so dry and tasteless that it's hardly appetizing. And sometimes preparing it is such a damn hassle when you're in need of a quick protein fix.

After a bit of experimenting I've found a good and pretty tasty way to eat tuna right out of the can - just empty out two packs of ketchup (the kind they hand out at fastfood chains) into a can of tuna, mix throughly, and eat.

It's a bit primitive and may sound gross to some, but it's actually very good. Don't knock it til you try it. And other than the sodium from the ketchup it is a benign and healthy meal.

And since we're on this topic - does anyone else know ways of quickly and instantly preparing canned tuna for consumption? Adding salt and pepper does not count. :p

Add salt and pepper. :p

Anyway, I'd take the tuna fish and since you're Chinese, I believe your parents could cook you fish. Mix that tuna with the cooked fish that your parents made.

Try eating tuna together with steak.

LOL! :p That made me laugh out loud. Thanks for the suggestion... I think.

PS: I'm Korean, but that's just a minor point. ;)

I would use caution when eating large amounts of tuna fish. Try to stay within the FDA guidelines and eat no more than a can or so a day. I forgot the exact amount but it was somewhere around there. To help remove the high sodium you can also rinse the tuna off, works well and helps the taste I think. Relish with tuna is also a good meal.

I myself ate canned tuna for several years with no problems, and until recently cut back severely. Personally I think protein is overrated, 0.8grams of protein per lb of bodyweight is more than sufficient so you won't be cutting yourself short by cutting back. Goodluck:)

Keep in mind that Ketchup and BBQ sauce has a good amount of sugar in it, which is not good if you are trying to drop fat.

if you wanna bulk seriously you need to eat more than 1gram per pound

if you want to stay "healthy" thats a different story

HOLY ****!

I tried to eat a tuna a day. After a month I couldn't look at it. I almost got gag reflex at the end. :(

So now I just switch tuna/chicken/beef/eggs/beans. Can't complain with the gains.

BTT:

I usually put some fat in my tuna. Like a teaspoon of veggie oil or mayo. Yeah, I know, calories, but I am bulking right now and I need lipids to build the cell walls. :p

The FDA recommends no more than 1 can a day due to high mercury levels. I also know people who have eaten tuna for years with no problems, this includes myself. Whether you eat tuna or not is your decision, but being aware of the risks is always good.

There are multiple studies that show that no more than 0.8 grams of protein per pound of lean body mass is needed. This is the "agreed" upon amount in the scientific community for bulking, cutting, whatever; because any more protein than this is simply not useful.

Tuna is tasty, indeed. I normally eat it straight out of the can, without any additives, such as salt, pepper, BBQ sauce, ketchup, etc. For a tasty treat, I have low-sodium corn chips in which I scoop the tuna onto the chip for a tasty meal.

Another good protein fix, other than tuna, is cottage cheese.

my tuna casserole:

boil some egg noodles ( however much you need they are cheap and fill you up) in a pot of water. when they are done - drain them in a strainer. ( they are done when you can chew em)

put them back in the empty pot.

open a can of tuna and drain it. then put it in with the noodles.

if you like cream of celery soup or mushroom add it.

add a little bit of milk.

salt and pepper.

throw in some cheese. my kids like velveta.

stir and simmer on low until the cheese melts.

some people put peas in there cause they are good for you. i dont bother cause the kids just pick em out.

hell yeah to ketchup and BBQ sauce. I did that on my 2nd can ever becuase the taste was too dry. Drink a liter of water or so when u eat it, its good for ya.

OK, i got one. how can i eat 150-200 g of protein a day? i dont have whey, and even tho i stuff myself and eat around 450g of carbs and 90g of fat a day, i only hit 110-120 protein.

Chicken breast is 25g
oatmeal is 14
eggs is 6 each

I cant eat that much oat/egg/chicken a day, PBJ kills me already!
