If you think this jury cant see a case for manslaughter here, I think you need to take some law courses.

Dont ignore todays testimony by Dr Rao and Osterman. It helped the prosecution and can certainly sway the jurors feelings regarding Zimmermans story and credibility. Also, do you not think the prosecution will mention Martin's desire for self defense in closing arguments? With 6 women on the stand, dont you think a smart prosecutor will paint a picture to them where its very reasonable that someone being followed and stalked in the dark be allowed to defend themselves?

Again, murder 2 is not likely. But manslaughter is very likely a conviction.

^You really dont know how juries work despite your education then. Their own personal feelings and biases get involved much of the time, despite the idea of "beyond a reasonable doubt". Its like expecting them to completely forget testimony that judges tell them is stricken from the record.

People dont work like that.

Again, with 6 women on the stand, a smart prosecutor will paint a picture to them where its very reasonable that someone being followed and stalked in the dark be allowed to defend themselves. Women, being the weaker sex and very much vulnerable to being stalked and harmed, will definitely be susceptible to having such an argument ring home for them.

At the end of the day, it doesnt matter what you or I think. What matters is how these 6 women interpret the facts and testimonies in this case. If this guy does get any jail time, I can only imagine how some posters here will react. I expect some typical put downs of the female sex lol

Some people seem to be missing the fact that Martin called Zimmerman a cracka AND a nigga. In which case he was just using both terms as a descriptor of "some guy". Some folks out there are latching onto the white slur, but ignoring the black slur. In any case, a lot of young folks speak like that. Id say the language would be more damning if Martin didnt use the N word right after saying cracka.
Wait...what? Are you serious? You are black right? Do you HANG with black people?

"Nigga" is meant in general terms. "Cracker" is not. I have never EVER heard a black person refer to any other black person as "my cracker" and never will. The first is absolutely an insult (not a terribly insulting one and actually pretty pathetic when it's used) for a WHITE guy while the second can be a couple different things including a term for just some guy.

Also, this idea that Martin thought Zimmerman was some gay dude on patrol is idiotic. Black folks dont call gay people creepy. If we wanna outright call someone gay, we call them gay, homo, on the down low, fruity, fag, suspect, etc.
To be fair, if he said any of that there is NO WAY the witness would say that in the courtroom. Also, as I said before, none of those have the same ring as "creepy ass cracker."

Although I'd love to know what you think "creepy" means. You call a MAN following you in the DARK "creepy" it can only mean one thing. Gay or ghost. Funny that you believe everything this witness says (although she is a admitted liar) but disagree with her opinions (which, of course, aren't lies because they are opinions!)

Gotta love these complete morons with an agenda "The Young Turks" on Trayvon Martin.

You can't make this sh1t up.

The only way Zimmerman gets put away is because they don't want riots. Which most likely will happen regardless. This case against Zimmerman is pathetic. The whole situation was a tragedy yes. But it's become pathetically desperate for certain groups looking for "justice" = obvious agendas are obvious and they've got way more than to do with Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman.

It's really not that serious. Whether George goes to prison or not wont change my life. That's the honest truth. Both were idiots that night and both could have prevented the final outcome. They both deserve the same fate. That's all I have to say.

I find these discussions fascinating for many reasons. I won't go into the details of the case because most of it is speculation, but I think it exposes a lot of ugliness mostly on the part of Zimmerman and his defenders. The case boils down to: Trayvon Martin was black and acting in a 'black' way and therefore killing him was fine. Take out Zimmerman's claims of self-defense and that's still what the Zimmerman side is claiming.

Also, this clip might be of interest:

Exactly, all that really matters is whether or not Trayvon first attacked George and if so George acted in self defense. It appears all the evidence available says that's the case. George should've never been charged. Sometimes there's bad luck and happenstance, people do stupid things and bad things happen, but that doesn't mean there's any criminal responsibility. Everything else is just bogus excuses, subterfuge, playing the race card, etc.

It doesn't boil down to that at all. There is no logic whatsoever that he was "acting black" and that is why George was concerned.

The ugliness is that people have no idea about anything on the case.

  • People mistakenly believe that George was told by police not to follow Trayvon, when he was told "He didn't have to do that" by a dispatch person with no authority.
  • People still believe that he tackled Trayvon and shot him.
  • Even Jeantel said that Trayvon began the confrontation by confronting and saying "Why you following me for?".

Bottom line, whoever threw the first punch, is the guilty party. If George did, then he deserves life in prison. If Trayvon threw the first punch, then George deserves to be free.

No laws were broken until the first punch was thrown. It is as simple as that. The first one to violate the law is the one who caused this tragedy.
So, Martin 'began the confrontation' by asking the very reasonable question of why some guy he'd never met (who was following him) was following him?

Wow. What a deformed world you live in Danger - or think you live in. So any armed weirdo who thinks I look suspicious can follow me around and shoot me if I don't like it?

Even in the most pro-Zimmerman scenario possible, Zimmerman's paranoia and recklessness caused the death of someone who was not engaged in any criminal activity. If Zimmerman had minded his own business nothing bad would've happened.

And OF COURSE race is a factor. If Martin were white or Asian Zimmerman would almost certainly be in jail by now. It's only because so many people think (whether they are conscious of it or not) 'Oh my goodness, a black kid in his neighborhood! I'm surprised he didn't open fire right then!" Try to imagine Martin as a different race and this whole scenario becomes unimaginable.

Anyone who thinks being black is an advantage in our legal system, or being white a disadvantage, or thinks that it's more likely that they'll prosecute a white guy for killing a black guy instead of vice versa is out of their %$!@ mind.

We are still discussing this? Anyone who watched the trial has seen that the prosecution has nothing. Zimmerman should walk if everything is fair. That's really the end of it, none of our opinions matter. With a jury full of women you never know though. But I'm pretty certain their will not be a unanimous guilty verdict.

Disagree. Just because there are more blacks in jail per capita does not mean they are treated unfairly by authorities. It just means they commit more crimes. No conspiracy exists, no matter what you want to believe.

Dress and act like a criminal, you'll get treated like one. PERIOD.

Read that and come back and tell me that the judicial system never puts away people who dont deserve hard prison time. And many of those kids were minorities. Things like that get even worse when cops racially profile people and stop them based on how they look. The NYC Stop and Frisk procedure comes to mind.

Not buying it Gaylan. That has nothing to do with race.

Most cops I know, black or white, are usually a little more hesitant about pulling over a ghettoed out cadillac with tinted windows than they are a nice SUV with a Romney sticker on it.

Which one of those do you think is safer for the cop? Can you start to see why a cop uses more caution when approaching a car like that? Do you also see where I didn't mention the race of the drivers? THAT is the fact of the matter. It's your APPEARANCE, which is MUCH MUCH more than just the color of your skin.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Dafuq does that mean? How does a criminal dress? Act? I thought this was a free country...unless you're actually committing a crime you're supposed to be able to dress and act how you want.

The Wall Street types who took TRILLIONS dressed in suits and ties and drove nice cars...and they did more damage than all the street thugs in the world.

Dont even give me that.

Explain the Robbie Tolan shooting incident....former MLB player Bobby Tolan's son.

The dude was profiled and followed for being black with a nice car in an affluent neighborhood. The police never could explain why they tried to arrest the guy. They just assumed 2 black guys in a nice car, in a nice neighborhood, stole the vehicle. They didnt think long enough to figure out that maybe they lived there.

I'd go and link the countless stories of thugs shooting cops in routine traffic stops if you like, but I really don't want to waste the time.

Either way, the cop was cleared of any wrong doing in that Tolan case because it was part of an investigation. And they were out at 2 am. Had the guys not gotten aggressive, it wouldn't have come to that.

I don't think I've ever met a more racist poster on the net than Jaylan but then again I don't go lurk at stormfront so I can feel relevant, self-righteous and superior.

And to support Jaylan, for the record if you have worked in the Criminal Justice field you will see racism all the time. It happens. The solution is of course not to screw EVERYONE over to create equality(whereas before it was just black ppl getting screwed) but to end the racist war on drugs.

Black people are racist as hell these days. I have experienced it myself at work.

No. There are many, many situations where one can throw the first punch and still be defending himself. There are a lot of ways to threaten someone and give them a reasonable indication that their life is in danger without physically attacking; what do you think a mugging is? Saying 'I'm gonna kill you' or pulling a gun are two of a thousand possible cases where I could punch someone in self defense without the other person touching me.

I'm not going to explain this any further. if you can't understand it then I can't help you. It's obvious to most people, it's obvious to me.
