This could be a cultural phenomenon at work again. The Western World follows the U.S. lead and we all eat a Big Mac and copy the latest thang, especially dialect and even dress. That is where the similarity tends to end. Americans are more likely to fall for DLP than a European/Australian. That is why you can have shows like Sally Jessie, Maury Povich, Oprah Winfrey, Ricki Lake, Jerry "somebody" and Dr. Phil. An Australian audience would not attend and a European audience the same. Your culture is about power, strength and purging your thoughts without necessarily resolving anything. Look at Blair, Howard, Cole and Bush....spot the difference? The first three can read/write/speak and digest information. Bush can gush a few catch cries and a "God Bless America" and you swoon. Anthony Robbins can scream "you're cured" and you swoon.
Look at European phsychological thrillers and dramas and look at your own. Detective Gorhan cracks the case via his witty pursuit of a packaged mental health disorder. Then look at Cracker and see something resembling accuracy.
DLP has massive failure, as matter of fact it has very little success. It works "in the venue" but three weeks later?, three months later? You walk accross some coal and your miserable life is cured. Read "Darwins Worm", life simply is a struggle, from the lowest life form to the most complex life form. Those people who actually self actualize (2%) usually achieve it in their seventies and usually after years of therapy. The rest is "pretence" and just layering another onion ring over the problem.
Women, believe it or not, are all individuals with individual needs, aspirations and desires. Some generalizations do hold true.
So, while DLP says, divert, shut down and make the negative behaviour dissapear through fear, I say, "Don't just do something...STAND THERE".
