I am just making the paradigm shift from an AFC to a MAN. One thing I noticed which can be a little unnerving an make you feel like your on a island unto your own is that the world believes and supports the AFC way. What I mean is you look at Hollywood, TV, songs on the radio, your sister or mothers advice or some old lady. They all subscribe to the AFC mentality so just be aware that as she begin the journey to Don Juan greatness. You will be hit from all different directions that will indirectly challenge your new found believes and attitudes so just be ready to deal with them. Know that you had the wool pulled over your eyes and that you are happy now to know the real truth (sorry kind stole that from the Matrix)

One thing that used to happen to me is that I would just pissed that world could preach such inaccurate information. Now when I doesn't make my stomach churn I muster up the strength to laugh at how funny the whole thing is.

Songs are the killer

I have a wide variety of musical taste, mostly R & B and R & R, but a common theme -- even amongst my favorite groups -- is desparation and AFCness.

Some examples:
Matchbox 20: Great group, but if I hear Rob Thomas say he feels "stupid" one more time, I'm gonna scream! The guy begs and whines on almost every song!

The Temptations: Legendary group and I love this song, but upon closer examination, it's an AFC theme song: "Ain't Too Proud to Beg." My God, just listen to it.

Just got a Blackstreet CD, and one song is called, "I'm sorry" or something to that affect; and various other whinings about losing women.

Even my fave, the Beatles, where Lennon says on Rubber Soul CD, "I'd rather see you DEAD little girl than see you with another man." Sheesh, John, lighten the f' up!

If you go through your CDs or listen to the radio you can't help but be bombarded by AFCness. It's brutal.

Amen brother, as I type this I am busting laughing because I
majority of music talks about desperation other AFC behavior.

Glad I'm not the only one that sees the humor and at the same time frustration. I really wish a Don Juan would write some good music. I would certainly be a fan. I really wonder though if his CD's would sell though, AFC's wouldn't know what to think and I am sure women initally would be apalled.

It doesn't really frustrate me; I actually find it funny, but then again I get a sort of thrill from being in the minority. Plus, my religion supports DJism (seriously, I've found some stuff in the Bible that provides backup for just being a man, and not a jerk or AFC)

So basically the human race puts together these meanings to feel more comfortable with things, and to define them, and you know, that has its place in the world and life, but also it becomes blinding. Whatever you believe, that’s going to highlight what you see and pay attention to, and the things you don't believe, you may miss. You may miss feelings and experiences and in some way you're blinded to what things could come from them. People will just see "the path" as opposed to new experiences, because they're reference points are from the path.

My opinion of the whole world being AFC goes much deeper. The term AFC usually refers to just dating, where most people carry that philosophy into other aspects of their life.

I've said this many times that unsuccessful people will ALWAYS give you advice, that if followed, will make you unsuccessful. If you want good advice about your career, talk to somebody who has been a success in theirs. If you want good advice about dating, talk to somebody who is a success in dating, etc. The one thing all successful people have in common is they take action!

In this AFC / loser culture that we were raised into I find it amazing that most people can tie their shoes in the morning and start their car. I personally know folks that have b1tched about their dead end relationships / jobs / life for 20 years and never took any steps towards long term fufillment.

Should this AFC society discourage you? Hell no, it just makes folks like us who strive to better ourselves daily stand out that much more, and reap more of the rewards, while the losers sit around rationalizing our success by saying things like "Yeah but I'm not as lucky / smart / talented / good looking as you."

So be a man, take chances, don't be afraid to stand out. Find out what you want in life and go get it. Anybody who tells you something can't be done is wrong, and most likely projecting thier own insecurities on you.

Let the world be AFC. We are the Don Juans. The world is our oyster.

This is exactly the way we want it to be.
Let the world continue to brainwash all of the flaming AFCs out there! Less real competition for me .

Every once in awhile I'll get pissed off at all the stupid, ignorant people I have to deal with in my everyday life. But, then I take a step back and realize it's all the stupid people that make me such a valued commodity. If everyone was as smart as I am then I wouldn't be special.

The fact that the world is full of AFC pu$$ies is what gives us DJs the competitive advantage that we want. Don't get angry at them. Pity them.

I also have noticed the same thing. My favourite band is Bon Jovi. I love a lot of their songs but sometimes I want to b*tch slap Jon ten ways from Sunday.

In countless songs he puts women on a pedistal, always appolagizing etc. It drives me mad.

However, AFC is what sells these days so they are doing something right......

I also remember something Doc Love wrote about, saying how in the latest star wars film, Anakin was a AFC. This made me even more aware of men acting like AFCs in films and tv shows.

Unfortunately there is not much we can do, but make sure we don't 'try this at home' lol.
