I think the real question here is where the hell are you supposed to learn some of these obscure fighting styles? Sure, anyone can go to a local gym and learn to box, or hit up the nearest Karate place and get your fill of Tae Kwon Do or Judo or whatever.

My real question, and pardon me if I sound sarcastic, but I'm truly interested in knowing...where the hell are you supposed to learn Israeli Krav whatever?! You guys throw these specialized martial arts titles out there...but honestly, I've never ever seen a sign advertising, "Learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!" or "Fight like an Israeli warrior!" Somebody wanna clue me in here?

You live in California. There should be a center to teach you Krav Maga or Jujitsu with in 10 miles. Unless you live in that "middle" part. Check your local UC or CSU, they normally offer some introductory courses, but given your SN, I assume you live in San Fernando valley. You shouldn't have any difficulty finding a gym/dojo.

And again, this debate won't get anywhere.

That blog is too damn long lol. From what I read it looks cool, is the teacher based in
Canada?

There is a fortunate paradox, in that the better a fighter becomes, the less likely he is to fight on the street.

In a street fight, most likely your opponent will be untrained, insecure, drunk and fearless. He will not use advanced jui jitsu, but rather sucker punches, weapons, group beatdowns, etc. He will likely be a poor white trash guy, or a teenage thug trying to emulate his favorite rapper.

World martial arts champions, will likely be friendly and pleasant, and will probably even turn you down if you challenge them to a fight. There is simply nothing to gain and too much to lose for Randy Couture to turn you into a pretzel, or for a prime Joe Frazier to knock all your teeth out.

I presume the courts would be much harder on pro fighters than an average 175lb drunk if a fight broke out. War Machine of ultimate fighter 6 fame recently beat up some guy with little provocation, last I heard he was eligible for 7 years in prison, which is a long time for punching someone and putting them in a choke hold.

The guys I'd fear most are the ones in between, the local fighters who are insecure about their abilities and still have the mentalities of trashy lowlifes, and will use both dirty tactics and their martial arts training to fuk you up.

Do you think that an organized match is in any way similar to a real street fight?

MMA is the most similiar type of training to a street fight that you will ever find. It covers all aspects of what to expect in a fight. If you go to the local blockbuster and Rent UFC 1-6 you would see its pretty close to a street fight. There were no rules practically everything goes except eyegouging, biting.

So broken bottles, clubs, knives, 3 on 1 odds are all permitted by the rules? I find that unlikely. I assume firearms are at least discouraged? Is one fighter unaware the fight has started until the first strike? Are the fighters sometimes drunk?

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.

Awesome link. don you eeveeer do deeees!

No question about it, Bas Rutten is a beast, and hilarious too. His accent makes him unintentionally funny.

He's apparently a very friendly guy to boot. The world is actually safer with guys like him around, they don't start trouble but know how to punish those who do.

why this is wrong has been covered many times, heres another reason:

street fights are rarely between trained people. the best trained fighters usually avoid fights, especially against equally skilled opponents.

cage fighting may be similar to street fights in some senses, but only at low skill levels. sticking two random drunks in a cage and watching them fight MMA is more simulative than pitting world class MMA opponents against each other.

The old series bumfights was probably the closest to a real street fight.

You moron the gracie championship doesn't take place in ohio. They take place in LA. There is no 205 pound weight division in Grappling tournaments you fvcking phony. You must be talking about naga in ohio. In bjj belts do mean something. Roll with a blackbelt. I don't care if the guy is 50 years old he would kick your azz. Now shoo you fvcking pest. I will not come down to south florida to take some idiot on who does not know crap about fighting.

You fvcking idiot your friend will not beat twelve guys in one day at a tournament. Even if the division is stacked you will fight 6 fights at the most. You just proved yourself to be a liar. I can't stand liars and I am done with you you fvcking pest.
Yes, there was a gracie nationals circuit in ohio last march. look it up. He had 5 matches in gyi competition, was disqualified for throwing someone into a table. And it was either at 205, or 200, I forget which. Switched over to the no gyi, and won 6 matches plus the championship match= 7 matches. +5 matches with a gyi=12 matches in one night. I'm done arguing with you as well. Just because you don't know **** doesn;t mean that I am a liar.

Okay I just looked up his old pic on my comp, and it was the 2006 gracie nationals and it was 185-200lb no gyi amateur division(plus the 5 matches he had in gyi competition before he was dq'd) I have the pic if someone can tell me how to upload it. But anyway, he was catch wrestling and he f ucked up alot of your precious BJJ practitioners with various different colored belts that night. I would like it if someone could host my pic or tell me how to upload it so I can shut up this one dimensional moron.

Just going in circles.

The most effective is the one that gets you out of the club and down to the next club 90 seconds before the fight *starts* between two idiots you don't know and don't care about.

Lol...I live in the "Middle Part" as you like to call it. But yeah, I'd actually really be interested in learning a martial art just for the hell of it...but I don't wanna do something dumb and generic. I'll look into it.

Kung fu video was interesting though. I don't know enough about kung fu to tell you if the guy was any good or not. But it is interesting to note how his stance did exactly what it was meant to: keep his opponent at an appropriate distance.

Kung fu guy got the job done but you have to understand that the kung fu guy is probably 5"9 165 pounds. His opponent is probably 5"4 120 pounds. He would have won that street fight without the kungfu.

Of course 4 guys that want to do damage on you are going to fvck you up no matter how strong you are. I don't care if your the strongest man in the world. Noone can go against a firearm. Kravmaga teaches that stuff but its BS. Going against knives and multiple attackers your pretty much done.

I am talking about a one on one fight. BTW people talk about mike vallely beating up those 4 guys. LISTEN THOSE 4 guys were YUPPIES who have never been in a street fight. That **** would not work against an mma fighter. Do you think he could have did that to 4 brothers from the hood. THe answer to that is fvck no. Watch the tape the 4 guys were fighting scared.

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.
