There are very few men who don't have at least one good facial feature. It's important to focus on the face because it IS important and there are a lot of things a guy can do to make his face more appealing. Hairstyle plays a huge part in framing your facial features. Facial hair can cover flaws. Contacts can replace glasses. Grooming of eyebrows can make a HUGE difference, too. Men shouldn't ignore their faces as if they don't matter. They should make the most of what they have and improve other areas of their lives as well.

I agree with you that a man should do what he can to make himself look as good as he can.

But in addition to outright neglect, which is obviously bad, there's the other extreme. If a man starts judging himself according to his looks, then he's either going to end up some flaming metrosexual or an extremely depressed self-hating wuss, neither of which is a good thing to be. Personally, I have no illusions about my looks (which suck), but beating myself up over it doesn't motivate me to make things better.

Perhaps it comes down to motivation - why do you want to look good: for yourself or for women?

Or how much do you think looks matter? Are they everything, or are they just icing on a pvssy-quakingly masculine cake?

How does lying to each other saying that looks don't matter or help you benefit anyone? No one should be so preoccupied with their looks that it affects their moods and mental health...but they also shouldn't convince themselves it doesn't matter, either...because it does.

Because, Wyldfire, I'd be willing to bet that fat/ugly people (of both sexes) have such a low opinion of themselves that, far from being motivated to improve their bodies, instead see themselves as totally unworthy of the effort ... and of the opposite sex.

A person whose body is approaching "perfection" is extremely motivated to get rid of that last little bit of cellulite or to gain the next inch on their pecs. But a person whose body could not be further away from this high level has a very different view - they're trapped in this vicious circle of self-hatred and inaction, and apathy is really the only way out for them.

Not all fat people have fat faces. There are a lot of plus size models who have beautiful faces. By definition, a lot of them are obese, although not "morbidly" so.

The guys who found their way here did so because they were motivated to improve themselves. In my opinion, that is the best time for honesty and is when people are most open to it. Now is the time for truth and encouragement to make the most of what they were given. Lying has no place here.

Looks vs Personality

This is a very silly arguement. Diferent girls value things diferently. In other words, some girls want a good looking guy, others want the Personality/Social Status. Most likely a combination of all these elements is what she really wants. So don't be one sided in thinking it is one or the other. It is about the total package and not just one or two nice features.

Why is it so incredibly hard for you to believe that women really are drawn to a good looking face so much so that other flaws are accepted as are (being cubby, slim, too tall or short)

Get on any chat program and ask the women what do they look at first in men the face or the body? they will ALLL say face. There is even some *Science* behind it but I am too lazy to post a search. Basically the female brain can instantly recognize a face while us men build it up first ( like a webpage loading up very slowly ) and most of you will say "No, I recognize a face instantly too" to which science says "No you didn't, it just happened fast enough for you not to realize it but you DID build it up piece by piece" That is just a nugget of information. Don't believe that? Go do a search online if you want to educate yourself a bit.

Now I do believe that if you are GREAT with your verbs you can do incredible feats as well but how often do you come across a male or female that is REALLY THAT GREAT with words? And I am talking about Tony Robbins good! around THAT level (not oprah level)
