Very true. And not only is there self selection bias in threads like this, but online tests often inflate the scores because they try to sell you things such as more detailed reports, and people would rather read about how they're a genius and didn't even know it, than about how they are entirely average.

Note, the above also applies to all penis size surveys. Subtract an inch and you're probably closer to true average. For IQ, subtract about 25 points.

There is one category of people who actually gain by admitting absymally low IQ scores. Idiot savants.

Ten years ago, there was a show on a local radio station called "Stump Ruthie." It consisted of this old woman named Ruthie—I think she was the aunt of one of the radio jocks—and it was a trivia game whereby a caller would try to stump her. It could be any question so long as the trivia was authentic and no matter how obscure the facts, never once was Ruthie stumped. She could even tell you the weather report on this day twenty years ago.

I consider myself relatively intelligent. I've never actually taken a proper IQ test but am going by the fact that I usually got roughly 3rd to 4th best results in my class (not year group) throughout high school.

One thing I have trouble with is however sarcasm. never seem to get it or atleast not until it is too late. Anyone got any ideas why that might be the case? Is it likely that I'm not as smart as I'd like to think I am, or is there something else to it?
