No im going to stick with rippetoe for a while anyway, im pretty sure i can adjust fairly well...

Plus that workout is too similar to what i had been doing months ago before i stopped!
Doesn't mean it isn't what is right for you. Many on this board have done very well on it, including myself.

Maybe i'll swap over in a while but after hearing all these great reviews about rippetoe im gonna stick at it for a while...no point changing after week 1 because i had a little teething problems! we'll just see how it pans out!

As for that other program, I am sure it works but just hoping that this will shock my body and give a little more growth..remains to be seen

Sure enough, better to see how things are after 3+ weeks.

I'd stick with the Rippetoe routine tbh. Looks very solid, multiple frequency = faster strength and size gains for newbies, compound based and proven to work. Also gets you squatting and benching more frequently which is a very good idea IMO.

Perhaps you are not new to lifting, but your numbers are at beginner level.

As its the weekend im off the gym and only working on eating.

My diet is completely unstructured however I always make sure to get my 6 meals in a day!

Note: 3 of these meals are protein shakes with about 65g protein in them each, which obviously is a fair amount of protein.

I eat 3 other fairly large meals if I can with lots of meat.. to be honest I do try cut down on my carbs tho as I am starting to put on a little fat!

Heres whats I had today:

Meal one: cereal plus protein shake (3 scoops)

Meal 2 : Large beefburger with bacon :D

Meal 3 3 scoops of Protein

Meal 4 Peppered steak beget and chips

Meal 5 1 1/2 free range chickens in tortilla wrap with chille sauce (awesome)

Meal 6 3 scoops of protein

yesterday I was in a rush as it was a party nite and was looking to go out, so i didnt get and warmup sets done and the rest inbetween werent long enough but it will have to do!

Squats 3 x 5 65kg (upped from 60kg from friday and my legs are ok this morning..definitely becoming more adjusted to them)

Military press 3x 5 30kg ,32.5kg, 35kg

Rows 3x5 50kg, then last set upped it to 60kg

closed grip pull ups 2x5 plus one 'superset' of bicep curls

Today was good!

Squats 2 x 65 kg 1 x 67.5 kg

Benchpress 3 x 65 kg

Deadlifts 1x5 90kg (PR)

Dips 1x10 felt too easy so next set did weighted dips with 10ks between my legs for 8 reps

1 set of tricep pulldowns x 12

Weighed myself today: 167 lbs, good improvent

pretty happy with the above workout..progressing along nicely! legs are definitely adjusting to 3 times a week so next week may up the weight a little more!

I found out that previously I was doing barbell rows as opposed to pendlay rows that rippetoe suggests!oops, corrected that today however! Form is good I think, I get my partner to check it out the odd time so I don't have a problem in that area I think! Over the weekend I will just concentrating on food! over and out until monday

LOL you remind me of my mate Matt, one time I saw him doing pullups and it was poor compared to his other lifts. I asked him why and he said it's because he never does them, but he does most other things. He said that he'd become awesome at pullups in a few weeks by supersetting CG Pull Ups with machine preacher curls, made me laugh haha. Don't think I've seen him do any pullups though since that day. :D

pull ups are hard but im getting better at them!

As for the reason for supersetting bicep curls after its just to get a little more out of my biceps for growth as they seem to be recovering quite well so far and its therefore within my limits

yeah well maybe not 7..when i said on my first post I weighed 160 i wasnt sure exactly, it could have been 162 for all i know! But definately made decent gains so far! Imo I think diet is the key, as in the past 8 weeks since I have been lifting ( i was using another program before that and wen up 10lbs at least) the weeks I made the biggest gains was the weeks I ate the most)

I wouldn't add weight too fast mate, a key mistake people make including pros is bulking up too quickly and adding too much fat when they bulk up. Trey Brewer is one of those guys, remember that adding muscle is a long, slow process.

i don't worry about fat gain too much due to my natural frame! It will pile of if and when I want! My goal is to reach 180lbs in the next 2 months!

Why? If it's fat then what good is that?
